Saint Patrick's Day
Since it's Saint Patrick's Day, I've decided to dedicate this blog post to some of my favorite current working Irish actors.
Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan has been one of my actresses for a while now. She has also starred in some of my favorite films ever: Ladybird and Little Women. I think she's an excellent actress, which is quite obvious as she got nominated for an Oscar at just 13 years old!
Barry Keoghan

Barry Keoghan had quite the year in 2023 as he starred as the lead in the hit movie Saltburn. However, I was introduced to Barry in 2017 as I watched him in Dunkirk and The Killing of the Sacred Deer. I think he is one of the best working actors of today and I'm glad he's finally getting recognition for his performances.
Paul Mescal

Paul Mescal has become one of my favorite current actors and I'm looking forward to seeing his future projects. He stars as the lead in one of my most anticipated movies of the year, Gladiator 2.
Extra favorites:
Cillian Murphy
Colin Farrell
Kerry Condon

My most anticipated films of the year
© UNIVERSAL PICTURES/ YOUTUBE
WICKED: PART ONE
Release date: November 27, 2024
Starring: Cynthia Erivio, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh
Director: Jon M. Chu
I cannot wait to watch this film. I tend to stay away from musicals, as they aren't my favorite genre, but there is so much drawing me to this film: the cast, the director, etc. I have seen set pics and the production looks huge, I'm interested into seeing how it looks on the big screen.
Gladiator 2
Release date: November 22, 2024
Starring: Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal
Director: Ridley Scott
I wasn't too interested in the movie until I decided to check out the first movie following the news of the second film. I watched the movie when I was in Italy after I visited the Colosseum and enjoyed it so much. I like the group of actors involved and can't wait to see the final product.
Other films:
Challengers directed by Luca Guadagnino
Cuckoo directed by Tilman Singer
Queer directed by Luca Guadagnino
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga directed by George Miller
The Crow directed by Rupert Sanders
Twisters directed by Lee Isaac Chung
Nosferatu directed by Robert Eggers

Movie Review: Dune: Part Two
© Photographed by Greg Fraser.
On February 29th, I watched Dune: Part Two. Dune: Part Two was one of my most anticipated films of 2023 until it got delayed into 2024 because of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Denis Villeneuve is one of my favorite directors ever and Dune has been a project I have been following since it was announced. I rated the first part a 3.5/5, I enjoyed it and thought it did a great job at world-building. It's not my favorite film but I do think it is a solid movie overall. However, I was blown away by the second part and can confidently say the wait was worth it.
Everything felt elevated in this movie. The action, the cinematography, the performances, and the amazing score by Hans Zimmer. While there were parts that felt a bit slower in the first Dune, my eyes were glued to the screen throughout the entire film.
Rating: 5/5

96th annual Academy Awards Wins

This year's Academy Award ceremony was a memorable one as it had all of these amazing movies, cast, and crew being put against each other for their respective category. 2023 was a major year for cinema where we received films, such as, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, and so many more other excellent ones.
At the end of the show, the awards for Best Actor and Actress were presented. Cillian Murphy won his first ever Oscar for Best Actor for his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer. Emma Stone won Best Actress for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things.
I think there were a lot of well deserved awards given tonight. However, I was surprised to see some films leaving empty handed. One of them being: Killers of the Flower Moon. I watched the movie and thought it was an excellent film with great acting performances and an important story. I was certain that Lily Gladstone would receive the award for Best Actress as I thought she was a highlight of the movie and deserving of the win.
Even though there are categories where I am not satisfied with the win, I still enjoyed the show. Although one might have lost an award, being nominated for an Oscar is still a remarkable achievement.

Oscar's Fashion
March 10th, the night in which the 96th annual Academy Awards was held to celebrate last year's cinematic achievements. The star-studded show was filled with some remarkable looks coming from some of Hollywood's finest. Two of my favorite looks of the night were by Anya Taylor Joy and Ariana Grande.
Anya Taylor joy was styled by Ryan Hastings and is wearing Dior. Ariana Grande was styled by Mimi Cuttrell and is wearing a custom Giambattista Valli Paris piece.
The carpet before the Oscars begin, where we see all these looks in full glory, is a show within itself. I look forward looking into the details that go into the styling. For example, Grande is wearing an all pink look as a nod to her character Glinda in which she plays in the upcoming 'Wicked' movies.
