This is how I draw hands. I simplify the shape and then later I will add the necessary details. It makes it easier to get them right. But the only way to learn how to draw hands is to just keep drawing them.

Nostalgically I was looking back to this 5 years old sketchbook (was at highschool at this time, 2013, I was 17/18 y old..), and I’ve find back this old study I had done from one of my favorite film at this time, MR NOBODY by Jaco Van Dormael, with first knowledge I had of storyboarding. By watching it back today, I realize clearly why this sequence had touch me that much ; if it’s about the montage, clarity of emotion, composition, rythm … it’s really rare to see such well done sequences today, and I’ll try to remember this reference, it’s a really good one :)

A tip for blending when painting digitally: use a transition color! I quickly made this when my brother asked for art advice while I was working on a painting for my best friend. (I was watching a lot of makeup videos to pick out her gifts).
