I was looking up paintings for something and there's a whole genre of art focusing on confessionals, and this one painting (that also inspired this illustration) (henri lehmann, le confessionnal) was giving off MAJOR pyramus and thisbe energy, to me, in the overall compositions (and intent) shared between them. so, again, my priest/knight agenda--

Hey folk, I have a non-tumblr request for y’all if you’re up for it.

For most of the last five years I’ve volunteered with a nonprofit that specializes in disaster response and recovery for zoological facilities. It’s honestly super neat: there’s a really unique skillset needed to help facilities with non-domestic species plan for, weather out, and assist after major natural disasters like hurricanes. Late last year, they contracted me to help with some of the communications work, and my current project is getting our Bluesky account up and running.

In short the ask is: if you’d be interested in learning about how zoos and aquariums and sanctuaries keep their animals safe from hurricanes and wildfires, and hearing about this mutual aid network that helps the industry community come together and support impacted peers… would you mind following the Bluesky?

I can’t emphasize how important I think this org is and how proud I am to be a part of it. I’m hoping to use the Bluesky to get more eyes on our work during active responses, but that means building a network now.
