Playing with new brushes and testing it on the first page of a new project - It's going to take a longggg time to finish, but I'm excited by this start! I think I've landed on the brush I like for my line art.

Not a WIP. Just a meme I want to put in ye olde artist-memory-bank. Despite being SUPER on top of it this past year, getting DnA's taxes sorted makes me look and feel like this by the end. It took roughly 5 hours to reconcile everything / prep it for our tax professional. Instead of profit increases, my real marker for progress as a small business is going to be how long prepping our taxes takes each year.... Decreased time? We succeeded.

Also for future Alex - it's 3 am. Two days before the deadline to file. Please don't do this again.

Working on the 2024 DnA tour tee design!

Last project of 2024 (excluding a CRAZY amount of weaving and knitting...) -- Mom's annual journal. I custom designed the internal pages based on her preferences, and bound them in a leather she picked out. She really liked the gold ribbon accents!

I've done it! I'm in a little bit of disbelief... but I've ordered my riso prints to make Phoenix!! If all goes according to plan ((OMG PLEASE LET IT)) these will premier as do-si-do folded risograph comics at CAKE! If it doesn't go to plan... I can always print the color version as it is 🤷‍♀️

Inked my next mini comic today! Hoping to debut Phoenix at CAKE in Chicago this coming weekend... To make that happen I have to get all color done tomorrow, print Wednesday, then feverishly fold Thursday and Friday... stay tuned for this truly dramatic timeline lol.

Tonight's project! A little hand-bound, graph paper notebook for my weaving patterns. I'll be updating it as I successfully collect new patterns and figure out their draw downs. I'm happy with this little guy, and proud of myself for doing this instead of spending money on another notebook lolol.

All caught up! This is the progress on my weaving tonight. Practicing patterns on smaller strips so I can get the hang of them and then experiment with variations in the patterns + yarn types. Clearly still learning a lot since I manage to mess up the patterns at the beginning on both of these tiny babies... But I find patterns very satisfying when done (even though they can be frustrating in the frame loom weaving process lol).

Finally caught up to the present! This week we learned interpreting weaving patterns, and this was my first go with following then distorting a pattern. Annoyed one edge bowed out - but overall a good first attempt!
