Jim Kirk is first in line, uses a urinal instead of a stall, and makes all the conversation despite the fact that Bones has better things to do than watch his bestie piss.

OK, but Bones taking urine samples from the very alien crew. I mean, drug testing is a thing in the military and what’s worse is someone has to be in the bathroom with you outside the stall to make sure nothing funny happens.

So he has to deal with weird alien piss and waiting impatiently while they use the john.

one thing that makes me sad about startrekverse is that alongside genuinely utopian things like “in the future there will be no poverty or hunger or crimes or illness” there is also “in the future there will be no religion” like what is this a john lennon song. i am sending you my least amused face

it saddens me that apparently a utopian future involves “”transcending”” religion which apparently universally and inherently holds humanity back?? whaaat. give me a break

i dont want to imagine a utopian SPACE FUTURE which has no, like, hijabi starfleet officers, or space rabbis bickering about what counts as “sunset” when you are on a space station. or what counts as “friday” for that matter

BUT MOST OF ALL

I DONT WANT TO IMAGINE A SPACE FUTURE IN WHICH EVERYONE DOES NOT VALIANTLY PRETEND THAT THERE IS NO ONE HOME ON THEIR STARSHIP WHEN THE MORMON MISSIONARY PODS COME BEETLING BY WITH THEIR DIGITAL PAMPHLETS

“Ah. Right.” Mika looked down at their daughter who giggled back at them and Mika couldn’t help but smile back. “And you weren’t raised in the same way other Vulcans were.” She bit her lip, knowing exactly who she had to talk to and she was pretty sure Sybok knew too. She was also sure he knew Amanda was coming to the house to see Val while he was away but he’d never said anything about it and she thought it best not to bring it up, considering the circumstances. “I’ll…I’ll take care of it.” She gave him a knowing look then picked up Val and sat the girl on her lap. “You know she adores you right?” Val’s tiny hands reached out for Sybok and her tiny squeak of daddy. “And, if we have another kid, we’ll at least know what to do with that one.”  

“No. I’ll take care of it.” Whoever Mika was considering going to, he wasn’t oing to take the risk that it was the same person he had in mind. Rising from his spot, he ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “I’ll send word to Spock. He has a decent control over his own abilities and would understand her unique position.” Sybok then smushed Val’s cheeks, smiling when she squirmed away from him. It didn’t diminish his concerns about her, but it was always nice to feel her rather innocent sense of the world. “And of course I know she loves me. I just wish I knew how to help her with what she is.”

Malcolm was surprised at the gespar being shoved into his mouth and he would have choked on it if not for the fact that he was snarling. Malcolm spit it out and frowned. “What the bloody hell was that for?” He stood chest to chest with Sybok and narrowed his eyes. “Why did you shove fruit in my mouth?”

“To prevent you from complaining. Fruit?” This time he held it up for Malcolm to take on his own, should hee want it. He really didn’t want to get in a fight and it seemed his original plan had been rather easily thwarted. “It’s rather fresh. I recently got it.”

Leonard nearly cursed aloud as he felt the Vulcan come up from behind him. As it was it took everything not to jolt in surprise more than he did. Leonard tried to pass it off as rolling his shoulders, not that it was very successful. The small tool in usually steady hands slipped from McCoy’s fingers to clatter on the counter when the hand splayed on his hip. Clearing his throat, the doctor picked the tool back up and glanced over his shoulder a bit at Sybok with a perked brow. “It was my tri-corder.” He smiled slightly before looking down at the bits and pieces of the taken apart device. It was kind of hard to recognize anymore. “I’m tryin’ to fix it. I could get a new one but this one is mine and I jus’ know a new one would be more trouble than ’s worth.” Bones barely trusted technology as it was so he was rather particular. Perking a brow, Leonard glanced at the Sybok again with a light smirk. “Never met a handsy Vulcan.”

Sybok felt the way he jumped at the contact so to try and hide it was illogical--but so very amusing for him. Almost as amusing as his attemp to fix the tricorder since he wasn’t entirely sure the doctor knew what he was doing. Reaching around him with his free hand, he picked up the device that the Doctor had been working with and pressed a little closer. “I’m not the average Vulcan and you aren’t doing that great of a job with this. Would you mind if I help? I know a few things about engineering.” Which was an understatement, but he didn’t want to intrude on the man’s work. With the tool in hand, he watched the doctor hopefully as he waited for an answer from him.
