Double the Joy with Identical Twins Leia and Lauren
To see more imaginative photos of the twins, follow @leialauren on Instagram.
“Raising twins is nothing short of chaotic, but the joy is also doubled,” says Amber Yong, mother of 1-year-old identical twin girls, Leia and Lauren (@leialauren). Amber and husband, Peter Lok, live in Singapore and document their girls on a daily basis. “They grow up so fast and these moments are so precious,” she says. The twins — who were a miraculous surprise to the parents-to-be early in the pregnancy — have appeared in dozens of adorable matching outfits, but their unique personalities always shine through. “Leia is reserved and watchful whereas Lauren is sociable and jovial. They balance each other really well.”

This judge had exactly the right reaction to the shameful way nonviolent prisoners are treated in US jails
A woman was denied pants or tampons after being arrested for not completing a diversion course that was part of her sentencing from a shoplifting charge. But see how the judge reacts when she finds out that the prisoner’s humiliating treatment is apparently routine.

#BREAKING: 45 Burmese fishermen rescued from years of enslavement and abuse.
“We were beaten on the boat and were not allowed to rest, even when we were sick,” said one victim. After an agent lured them to Thailand with false promises of jobs, they were forced to work on fishing boats. Their pay? Not even a cent for 3 years of labor.

Goodbye 23
I think you are up there in the count for hardest year ever. But the thing is that this was a hard year because of the choices I made. No one else was to blame for choosing to sit in the dark. I had no one to blame for the mess in my apartment. I was to blame for my life blowing up. I let pride consume me to the point that there were days where suicide seemed like it was a better choice than telling someone I wasn't okay. It is never a good day when the darkness seems like it is better than hope. But the thing is that at the end of the day, people aren't going to shake the darkness out of you. You have to make a choice. You have to tell someone you aren't okay. You can't climb out of a well alone; you have to have someone pull you up. Its impossible to stay there alone. Community is one of Gods greatest gifts for us. But if we choose to cut off others; to stay in the dark...to call off work and stay in bed, we will hear the lies that anxiety or depression is our only name when we are called beloved. And I think that even though it took me 23 years to learn that is okay. It might take you 70 to come to that conclusion yourself but I hope you learn it so much sooner. That you step out and choose hope. Choose to be thankful. Choose joy. You get to choose how your life ends up. My greatest resource in this was Joseph's story. I thought my childhood was bad. But verse 20 of Genesis 50 says "what you intended for harm, God used for good." Joseph gave life to others even after he had faced a life of injustice. 23, gosh you were so hard. But thanks for the lessons, because you have set me up to discover so much in year 24. So long.

“My grandparents abused me because they hated my mother. I decided when I was eleven years old that either I was going to kill them, or they were going to kill me, so I went to school one day and told my teacher, and they placed me in a group home for nine years. That’s how bad it was. It was so bad, that even at eleven, I knew I had to get out and break the cycle.” “What cycle?” “The cycle of people taking out their feelings on their family.”

Robby Novak is a ten year old boy living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a brittle bone condition resulting in bones that’re easily susceptible to damage. His spirit? Not so much.
Robby is full of life and ideas. He’s also Kid President.
Kid President was created out of the simple belief that children have voices worth hearing. You can find Kid President doing anything from giving Pep Talks, to dancing, having conversations with President Obama about world change, and doing homework for his day job - being a 4th grader.
Kid President reminds us that in spite of the things we face on a daily basis or the trials we go through, we are still important, still necessary, still just as loved.
In the words of Kid President, “Love changes everything, so fill the world with it.”
