Each and every State that had broken away, formed their own governments, and had been asking for independence and recognition for 11 years. They can go. But since US States are sovereign as it is, they can do this at any time, so not a fair comparison.

Self determination is an inherent human right. Pretending the "SMO" is an invasion by a belligerent country is to ignore the realities.

LPR and DPR declared independence in 2014. They have been fighting a civil war with Kiev regime since. Russia recognized the independence of those republics and signed security agreements with them in 2022. The LPR, DPR, and Russia, supported by their allies in the CS, gave Kiev an ultimatum to end hostilities and leave the sovereign territory of those republics or face military action. When the deadline came, the LPR and DPR began an offensive, supported by Russia, Belarus, Chechnya and a few others. That is what you call the 2022 invasion. In 2023, LPR and DPR voted to join the Russian Federation.

All combat operations currently going on the ground are taking place on the LPR, DPR or Russian territories. Not in Ukraine.

The counter to this is that self determination is not a right and the LPR and DPR could not sever political ties with the Kiev government. If that is your opinion, then the secession was illegitimate. The LPR and DPR are non- States and the support of them is terrorism and Russian/CS troops in the Donbas are an invasion.

You have to choose the liberal democratic ideal of self determination in order to support the Russian side, or you can deny that right to support Kiev.

It most likely is the case that Ukraine (Kiev) and the Donbas Republics are simply pawns of Westen Europe and Russia in a geopolitical power struggle for dominance on the European continent.

As another option, Americans can say "A pox on both their houses" pop some corn and enjoy the show. Not an unreasonable position for an American to hold.

Very creepy: the exact same words and the exact same clips of Jan 6 and Elon with the chainsaw in all of them.

Practically all career politicians are just puppets and mouthpieces for shady and unelected forces bigger than governments. When something like the above happens on such a scale, it's a clear sign that those forces are feeling particularly threatened and close to being exposed.
