DESECRATION // DECONSECRATION :                  i am this; salt strewn into the fields like a curse. holy water, this soupy brine – unwanted cross, unbearable light. i, the incandescence, the unholy songs, the candles without flame. i am this stripping; this hallowed become hollowed. this deconsecration, this bitter medicine & violent graffiti of scripture. i am in desecrated earth, violated ground of rotting mushroom ( wine & scorch ).

so i just want to throw this out there : ae-sook will introduce herself by her anglicized name, artemis choi, 99% of the time. she uses this name as her public persona, for any new people she meets, and it is her legal name in america. in narration, i will refer to her, and she will refer to herself, as ae-sook, because that is her name. that is who she knows herself as. but people don’t usually know her real name unless they are super close and / or family.

   her attentions focuses back on him, and she raises her brow. her expression falters, a narrow of her eyes.   “ you don’t know who i am? ”    she’s joking, entirely. a dramatic sigh breaks her lips before she reaches out to take the wine glass being offered to her by the bartender, a thankful smile in their direction.    “ i’m not sure if i should pay for your drink now, i’m offended. ”   the woeful tone behind her last words, matched with splayed fingers to her chest, makes it an obvious joke. she looks at him, a wry smile.    “ my name’s artemis. you can call me ari, if you want. ”

           he’ll peer down at his cast, his broken leg throbbing inside it before his attention finally turns to the girl next to him, quickly moving his crutches so they wouldn’t accidentally hit her if they fell. “ya’ can buy showers?” tongue almost feels like wet sand, hasn’t used it in awhile. also hasn’t talked to anyone other than himself and a few others that never lived long. he doesn’t count them, of course. “a drink would be awesome, luv’. ‘m trevor, by the way.”

      a laugh, she readjusts herself on the bar stool to turn and look at him. she glances briefly toward his leg. a curious furrow of her brow before her attention is back to his face. “ i meant --- i don’t think i can buy you a girl. i think that’s illegal. but i’m no cop. ”    she rolls her shoulders in a shrug before she grabs the attention of the bartender with a wave of her hand.   “ i’ll have a glass of your house chardonnay, and whatever he wants. put it on my tab. ”
