RAINBOW and LGBT When you were a kid have you ever heard of rainbow brite? In my generation, yes. Rainbow Brite is a tv series named as the color protector. My Aunt used to draw Rainbow Brite where I am so amazed of when I was a kid. But I never thought that not only Rainbow Brite could make every kids' world colorful. Rainbow itself can make every individual's world colorful, and it could make the skyline colorful after the rain. But did you know that Rainbow has different broader meaning? In my searches, Rainbow has very deep meanings and symbols. Rainbow is a multicolored array and symbolizes energy, love and new beginning. It is also used as a common symbol of the International Cooperative Movement. Rainbow is used as the flag of World Peace, and Flag of the Human Race. Apart from that, it is famously used as a symbol of LGBT community and LGBT social movements. Gilbert Baker, an openly gay activist assigned eight colors with specific meanings of each color. Hot pink - Sex Red - Life Orange - Healing Yellow - Sunlight Green - Nature Turquoise - Magic/Art Indigo - Serenity Violet – Spirit In February 12, 2018 during the street carnival in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the 9 stripe flag of LGBT was revealed and shows a white stripe color in the middle representing all colors (human diversity in terms of religion, gender, sex preferences, ethnicities), and peace and union among all. Rainbow gives so much pride to every individual who carries it, to some, it is just a famous color but the fact is, it has deeper meaning. If you are wearing it, embrace it. It is just the same as what LGBT really means. LGBT is an initialism that stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. The initialism became the mainstream as a self-designation. The initialism is being used to replace the term “gay,” since most people are not aware of the different meanings of each initials and the purpose to educate the people of the different sexual orientations and gender identity in LGBT community. LESBIAN - is a homosexual woman who is romantically or sexually attracted to other women. GAY – refers to a person having the trait of being homosexual. It is popularly used in homosexual men who is romantically and sexually attracted to other men. BISEXUAL – are romantically and sexually attracted towards both men and women. TRANSGENDER - people have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from their assigned sex. Transgender people are sometimes called transsexual if they desire medical assistance to transition from one sex to another. In addition, there are other variants also adding initials like LGBTQ where the “Q” stands for Queer who are questioning their sexual identity. In this generation, LGBT community is being acknowledged in every part of the world, excluding the Religious sectors who criticize the community. To every individual who exert time and effort reading the blog, let’s be open minded, LGBT is asking for acceptance and equality. We are all human beings, if any one who have done wrong in the eyes of the people, then don’t put it in general, there are still people who have done good things behind your back. PRIDE is very important to these people, they had contributed a lot to the community. To the PRIDE people, embrace it, prove not only to yourself but to the other people that there are still some things that you should be proud of being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. Be proud! Salute!
