It’s not been long when a Texas strip club hosted a drive-thru event where the performers danced for their customers while maintaining the social distance. The club setup a drive-thru in their parking lot where they had dancers perform on the stages and the customers were told to stay in their cars.

The manager of the club said, “Texas Strip Club Hosts Drive-Thru Event With Socially Distanced Strippers & Dancers. The DJ would play two songs and the girls would dance on the stages. Guys were able to throw out some money. We had some buckets out there they can put some ones in, while you sit in your car social distancing.”

He also added that he wanted to do something unique for his employees because the club has been shut and they don’t know for how long. So, events like a drive-thru is a great way for his employees to make money.

The manager Cortez also said, “We did not think it was going to be that lucrative for the club. This was mostly for the entertainers, the independent contractors that work for us to come out and try to make a little more money and try to have a good time.”

Overall, it was a three night event that took place over the weekend. Although they didn’t confirm any dates for the next event, the manager said that it will take place again in the near future.

Not to mention that during the lockdowns, strippers have struggled a lot and almost all of them have gone out of employment benefits. Many of them were not being paid by their employers mainly because the clubs were closed.

A success coach for strippers named Chase Kelly told Forbes, “We are all out of work. There is little our clubs will do to help us. Still, some have been incredible. A couple of months before the year 2021, XTC Cabaret and the city sued each other in the wake of Northeast Side strip club’s shutdown. They did this because of the allegations of violating coronavirus orders.

Both the club and the city files lawsuits within one hour of each other on Monday afternoon in the state’s District’s Court. Each of them were seeking temporary and permanent injunctions.

Initially XTC sued, and it asked the court to restore its certificate of occupancy. This certificate was revoked on Nov 24, 2020 after the club received six citations from the city for allegedly failing to practice social distancing and also the rules requiring face masks.

Moreover, the establishment at 2023 Sable Lane also demanded from the court to prevent the city from enforcing any kind of Covid-19 rules that are not officially authorized by the Gov. Greg Abbots executive orders.

Not to mention that the city makes no mention of the Covid-19 protocols in its lawsuits. Rather, it has described XTC as a sett of criminal activity. THis includes prostitution, assaults, deadly weapons, drug dealing and more.

Just a day after the XTC’s occupancy was revoked, the Mayor Ron Nirenberg officially issued an 11th addendum to his public emergency heath orders, the club said in its suit. Read full story here.

A GoFundMe Page For An Injured North Texas Stripper Creates Controversy

Just a couple of months ago in February, a video went viral where an exotic dancer from Addison TX named Genea Sky got badly injured after she fell off from a 15-foot pole.

Despite her fall, without even missing a beat, Sky rebounded and continued to perform her routine. However, her injuries were extensive and she suffered from a fractured jaw, broken teeth and sprained ankle.

Like many of us would do, one of Sky’s friend set up a GoFundMe account to help cover the medical costs. Her friends asked for $20,000. Interestingly the account raised twice the amount as of Tuesday.

Of course the social media trolls were also there who mocked Sky for her fall, while others express outrage about the fundraiser.

Iris Muscarella, who is a gender-neutral swimsuit designer based in Dallas, worked as a burlesque dancer for around 10 years. She said that she doesn’t know Sky’s personality but she empathizes with her. She added that Sky got hurt, it was a serious accident and she needed help and prayers.

Sky also wrote on her Instagram post that she had a very difficult time processing all the sudden and unexpected attention. She said that she was very nervous because this incident started blowing up because people were cruel and it is quite sensitive for her.

All the negative reactions on social media range from disappointing to downright disgusting. Some said “Maybe she should get a better grip on her life”, while another one wrote, “Next time put a Mattress down to Break that fall…”

Some even took what-about-ism to the next level. One of them wrote, “Y'all really out her [sic] donating?”

Danielle Longueville, who is a digital marketing coordinator and burlesque performer, says that she has seen several posts making similar comparisons. There are several sick kids in the world whose GoFundMe goals have still not met, so why would we care about Sky’s injuries?

Longueville also added that in accidents like these, the sex work community has always bonded together. “Not just because they’re really great people, but it’s out of necessity,” she says. “Because we still live in a society that doesn’t view sex work as real work.”
