'Stag meeting a Unicorn'. Historical artwork from 'The Book of Lambspring', (1749) edition, showing a meeting between a stag and a unicorn in a forest clearing. In alchemical tradition, the stag sumbolises the Sun and the Unicorn represents the Moon - a union of opposites, harmony of energies.

I last read...
Terrible Worlds: Revolutions by Adrian Tchaikovsky
what I wanted: this book was a gift so I had no idea what to expect
what I got: three very different novellas
what I thought: This is a cool collection because the three novellas all have the same theme but the writing style and tone is so different that they all feel very unique.  I enjoyed Ironclads the most (because the combination of the humorous style and the serious action was just so well-balanced) and would rate that 4 stars, but unfortunately the other two stories are lowering the overall rating a bit for me. They're still interesting reads, but were not as engaging for me, which is why I rate the overall collection 3 out of 5 glimpses into strange worlds.
