O powerful Artemis, Thou wieldeth bow and arrows made of Gold and sorrow to the beasts Thou wandereth in glades and woods seeking Thy very prey flees for naught, O She-Bear! For nature's claw born in Delos comes for all! And She of the Golden Bow strikes true at every turn For no evil escapes thy sight unburnt. Come gentle-minded, helper of all who wander The paths of life in harmony with the green, So I pray, mighty Goddess, hearken to me! Bring confort and health, to all who breathe.

"Artemis with shafts of gold loves archery and the slaying of wild beasts in the mountains, the lyre also and dancing and strong-voiced song and shady woods and the cities of upright men."

Hi I just wanted to say since I’m new is it wrong to think Artemis should only be for women because mythological she is pretty much only women and I find her quite inspiring find her very girl power like. so sorry if I’m annoying you have a great day or night
Artemis loves women and hates men. Artemis is all about the pussy, she literally murders men who enter female spaces and doesn’t allow male hunters

thinking of Artemis, I do not think that seeing her as fully untouched wilderness, far from man, is correct—even in her mythology, she has followers that are wild in their rejection of society’s beholding. Rather, Artemis gives us a way to be in the wilderness as a caretaker of it, as fellow wild hunters, as nature has it. Nature thrives in our care, but it is imperialism that makes nature appear to be something conquered instead of the foundation of our lives—and also as something idealised in environmentalism, in which can fail due to cultural assumptions of nature.

I was only a crescent moon, a curved half circle, curved in gaping, dolorous craving, bowed around emptiness, arms surrounding to meet nothing, a line unfinished, a life unrounded, a curve unfilled, suspended over the world, pale with unfullness,

if OSA women are unhappy without fulfilling het relationships, that is unfortunate. i feel for them, but it is not separatists' fault that 99.999999999% of men are not viable romantic/sexual partners, nor is it our responsibility to pretend that they are or that pursuing them is a good idea. separatists are presenting an alternative to chasing unicorns in searching for the one "good man" out there--as if the demand does not exponentially, astronomically exceed supply by several orders of magnitude--and we are not "failing to take into consideration" the romantic needs/wants of OSA women. We are simply acknowledging the nigh on impossibility of having those needs/wants met in the world in which we currently live. we will not organize our female spaces around facilitating women's pursuit of het relationships and it is misogynistic to suggest we do so. Het relationships are not inherent to womanhood nor are they necessary for women's happiness. It is misogynistic to say that a woman needs a man to be happy.
Providing a safe base of operations for pursuit of het relationships, while helpful in at least providing some measure of protection against men, is not a feminist space. It does not lead to women's liberation if the goal of the space is still to find and pursue het relationships. Het relationships are not safe and they are not equal and continuing to pat women on the back and say "don't worry, he's out there somewhere" is just setting her up for more pain.
Not all OSA women will choose the path of separatism, and I encourage those who don't want to pursue it fully to choose the intermediary step of setting up the aforementioned safe base of operations from which to pursue their goals. providing safe space for women to live away from men is an admirable feminist goal, but orienting that space around pursuing men is not. it's just repackaged misogyny. "sure, you can live with only women, but the point of the space is for you to find a man :)" like what??? how is this an argument you're making? Men are not safe. Sorry, but that's the truth. Stop acting like separatists are being mean or exclusionary for acknowledging that reality. It is not separatists' fault that men are not safe, nor is it honorable to lie to other women that they are. I, nor any other women aware of this reality, cannot in good faith or in good conscience encourage other women to pursue relationships that could very easily get her hurt, abused, raped or killed¹. At the end of the day, every woman is going to do what she wants to do, but that doesn't mean I should lie to her about the dangers of the path she chose (or that I could live with myself if I knowingly did so); and nor does it mean that the action she took is a feminist action². I thought we were past choice "feminism"?
note: the goal of feminism is women's liberation from oppression. a feminist action is an action supporting that goal, or moving towards that goal. insisting women end up in het relationships is not a feminist action.
¹before y'all try and jump on me and accused me of blaming OSA women for the things men do to them, that's not what I'm saying and you need to develop your reading comprehension skills. Men's abuse is always, always men's fault.
²not every action a woman takes is a feminist action. not every action a woman takes has to be a feminist action. That is the reality. that does not mean we cannot acknowledge which actions are feminist and which are not.

She is nature embodied; Potnia Theron, Mistress of Animals. She is the birth of lambs in spring, she is the food that sustains us when the earth dies again each year, she watches and shelters over animals within and without. She is nature in her cruelty. She is nature in its life. She is the butcher. She is the deer being hunted, the hunter who chases it, and the arrow who hits its mark. She is the forest fire, the fire, and the person watching it. She is the cruel embrace the wild gives; she is its endless addicting impossibility. All we want is to return to nature, and all we fear is the wild unknown, from the safety of our beds and inside our walls. She is the creature watching us, and the dog keeping us safe. She is the mountains, the jagged peaks, and the deep abyss gaping before us.

The frequency that I am seeing people declare Artemis to be aro/ace as though they can change the goddess has me very frustrated. I think though that it may be based on a complete misunderstanding of her and a deliberate effort by men to make her difficult to connect to
Artemis has been a goddess who swore off men from early in what we know of her. The connection with virginity came later in her worship but was connected to it. When the concept entered her worship ‘virgin’ did not mean ‘never had sex’ it meant unmarried. Since marriage was an arrangement between man and woman with the purpose of children and when concept entered her worship it was also a transfer of property from one man to another as most women were seen as property.
So the oaths she swore became better understood as a swearing off of men and an oath of virginity. Which to those who worshipped her when that concept was expanded meant that she swore to never have sex with a man, marry or have children.
Artemis’s oaths were not a childlike swearing off of all sex ever. But a swearing off of males and a declaration of her freedom. She would never belong to a man in any way and no man would ever have claim to any part of her. She declared her freedom and fiercely defended all the women who did the same and ran with her.
This is why she isn’t some aro/ace mogai character fiction. The modern understanding of virginity was not the understanding of the word when it was entered into her worship to describe an element of her declarations. She is a powerful goddess who loves those women who love her (and all women, but like particularly those who also love her) she is not an eternal child or naive. And to declare her to be so is a vast misunderstanding of the goddess.
