Abigail Ashe: when the quill is mightier than the sword. A little wish fulfillment of mine, that she accompanied her journal. I might work on this a little more, the photo isn’t great lighting. I’m happy with my Abigail. The other 2 were added with only clothing refs, so more sketchy.

Eta: Better picture - sometimes I’m too impatient to wait for daylight. This was about 6 hours over 3 days.

“ loving you is like something holy. ” - My muse to yours || ☂ for our muses to stargaze

Stargazing; this task was nothing new when it came to the odd pair of residents from Nassau Island. Abigail was fond of the stars, and in his spare time after a day’s work out in the sun, Captain Vane never seemed to mind laying out with her on the cooling sand, bathed in darkness and gentle cool of the sea breeze to regale the young miss of his affections with the teachings of the sky charts. He had a way about going on with it that kept her coming back for more. And whether that was intentional or not; she rather didn’t mind. 

This night in particular was no different from any other. Skirt plumed around her tucked up legs against the sand, fingers buried in the Captain’s locks as she absent-mindedly wound two strands together to fix the braid that had come loose during the day. The lion of a Captain that made home to his head in her lap cantered on about the shimmering glow above - gaining her attention only when his large hand would grace her peripherals to bring attention to the design of these constellations. She was learning; slowly but surely. 

However, it was suddenly when his hand fell, brushing the curve of her jaw that drew her eyes down towards him again. Doe browns blinked to refocus on him, as the words sweeter than honey drifted off his lips so suddenly. Though adored to be heard, Abigail was still quite un-used to such praise; a bloom of pink curling the high ball of her cheeks - rushing forth a clearing of her throat. “Isn’t it blasphemous to claim something heavenly that isn’t, Captain?” She countered, trying to take the sting out of her sudden fluster.

A sweetened ‘goodnight Captain’ was never a-miss without the signature forehead kiss. It was always the same, in the same spot - warm, and his mustache tickled the pale porcelain skin where it brushed. It boded protection, care - and was the slightest reminder that her caregiver, McGraw, was always in there. That this monster Flint had not swallowed his soul whole and darkened every last inch. He was still her tender father figure, and it was her and only her now who seemed to see this side of him. Swaddled into a thick blanket, tucked away into the hammock aboard the Man O War’s captain’s quarters was Abigail’s resting place night after night. And this night was no different like any other as her doe brown eyes rested gently with the sweet affection that lingered against her skin. This night, however, she’d giggle softly as the gingered man would pull back, curling the blanket up round herself further to turn face his way. “You need your rest too, Father. You’ve been up too long. But you’ll sleep well when you do, won’t you?”
