“              soooo,              ”               the brunette said,               raising an eyebrow.             “            what did they do that you had to talk to them              ?              ”

     “out after curfew on the second night of school. not a big deal, really, but still had to talk to them and escort them back to their houses.”

PHILIPPA:

  though she was still a little irritated, she joined him at his table.  she crossed her legs delicately at the ankles, her uniform socks catching on the fishnet tights she wore underneath them.  after all, accessorizing was the only way you could be an individual when your school had a UNIFORM.  “ excellent. “  she put her binder down, letting the planner flip open to the various sections, charts, and lists she’d compiled over the last few days.  given that the witch enjoyed planning, it was no surprise she’d gone to such lengths to organize her thoughts … and their prefects.  “ i figured you and i would patrol together.  unless there’s someone else you’d rather go with ?  at least this first week. “  she flipped through the next section, pointing out the new prefects.  “  i was thinking hufflepuff and slytherin together.  since they both have common rooms in the dungeons.  “  she paused a second, thinking.  “  it’d be smart to pair a returning prefect with a new prefect,  right ?  to tech them the ropes ?  i remember it being a wee bit overwhelming when i first joined. “  she also remembered her fellow prefects dodging out on rounds, leaving her to patrol by herself in the dead of night.  that part, she hadn’t loved.  

     asher nodded a long with what the head girl was saying, he too had a bit of a rough time his first year as a prefect.  “i agree. we could also use this to promote more inter-house interaction and pair them with a prefect from another house, beyond just convenience of common room locations. for example pair say the slytherin seventh year prefect with the fifth year prefect from your house. two birds with one stone sort of thing: the younger years learn how to operate as a prefect and we support professor dumbledore’s message of family and unity within hogwarts. what do you think?”

IRENE‌:

“     true,     but it doesn’t mean i’m looking forward to it.     ”     it was true.     she’d been there for asher and he’d been there for her.     their first year at hogwarts was in fact,     a bit     DAUNTING     for the pair.     “     that’s true.     i think i’m just going to sit next to you during those classes then.     ”

     “well i hope so, ren, i don’t really want to sit by anyone else   --   requires too much forced interaction most of the time,”  the head boy laughed.  “are you joining anything new this year?”

“decent, thank you.” kaia’s smile was genuine, and she leaned forward to talk to the boy. “excited to start your new duties, boss?”

     “i am actually, i enjoy having things like being head boy to keep me focused   --   not to mention that it’s nice to have my own room. not that i didn’t enjoy rooming with zach, of course.”

SOLEIL‌:

          if soleil was supposed to care, the look on her face plainly stated that she didn’t.  whether he was working on his homework or trying to build a model quaffle was of no consequence to her. the only reason she was speaking to him in the first place was because an incensed head of slythyerin house had crossed paths with her on her way to the great hall. she’d be eating right now if asher knew how to listen.  she was near seething.  thinking about what would happen if she hauled off and punched the head boy was what kept her calm, a deep breath taken before speaking again.  “i don’t know.  i didn’t ask.  he looked pretty pissed off though.  have you done anything STUPID lately ?  “

     “no, not at all,”  asher frowned as he thought over the last few days.  “no matter though, i’ll just   ...   go see him myself. uh, thanks for letting me know that professor snape was looking for me, soleil. i appreciate it.”  as he said this, the headboy stood up to his full height, gathering his books and bag quickly.

kaia grinned. “too much room, levitt.” she sat down, placing her books on the table before her. she’d never gotten along tremendously with ravens, but the head boy seemed nice enough to her. “how was your summer?”

     “sorry,”  he repeated with a slight wince   --   he really should have realized that he was being rather inconsiderate.  “my summer was fine, thanks,”  lie,  “and how was yours, kaia?”

none of that read true to brandon, but he wasn’t gonna push someone who didn’t want to help into anything.  “thanks. fuck knows i lost half of it over summer, but i think i can make that work.”

     “i’m sure it’ll come back to you once you settle into the familiar environment of hogwarts since you’ll really have nothing else to do but focus on it.”
