anyway.... what are some tropes you'd like to see more of, especially in a supernatural/horror setting? i need some inspiration for new skeletons since we're running low.

I joined a pay-to-rp group (as in, you pay the $40 or so fee to join the group) and it has been amazing so far. Everyone there actually wants to be there and uses high quality gifs and themes. I think the problem with the f2p groups is that people are flaky and don’t care about the time and energy put into the group, so I’d highly recommend a p2p group for people who want something more consistent (and supporting local content creators)!

if the taken list is mostly or even 1/3 influencers. vinnie hacker, cindy kimberly, leah helton, and whatever other instagram face is trending that month. it’s such a huge turn off because i feel like 90% of the time these fcs are just used for people to cosplay as a hot tiktoker.

also, duplicate fcs but the only fcs being the same 5 popular white people. drew starkey, sabrina carpenter, sydney sweeney, jacob elordi, glenn powell. YUCK!

i've heard about the drew starkey multiplets and i'm crying that's so funny. same as my last message to whomever really loves drew starkey... you keep doing you. we'll be doing our own thing over here, but i am being genuine when i say i hope you're having a blast. life is too short to let judgement get to you.

on that note, i literally have glen powell on our banned list. why? something about him is deeply unsettling to me and not in the way i want this group to be deeply unsettling. if you like him, cool. i... can't look at him. i can't do it.

i think we did have sabrina carpenter on our wanted list at some point but that was before she became so controversial recently. also, i don't think any of us in here have ever really written against her but i get the sense its the same situation as the victoria secret models, tswift, and so on... she's gorgeous -- and any gorgeous, successful person is bound to get a lot of admiration -- but such a prevalent face really kills my ability to see the character past the fc.

there is always that fear that people playing these big stars are doing it for more personal reasons but i won't touch on those here. i'm not in the business of bashing on people, i just want to dig a little deeper into the minds of the rpc today. give me more! i know we all have fcs we hate but what else really puts you off a group so quickly?

still on summer hiatus until at least end of july but we have an au event coming up shortly. more skeletons to come once things start really moving again.

this is petty, but if i go in a server and the taken list looks like a 2010’s nightmare i’m leaving immediately. i’m not joining anywhere that some of the only faces taken are like, taylor swift and ariana grande and selena gomez or the one direction guys and justin bieber. and you’d be shocked by how often that is still happening, even in regular ass town groups with no oc fame element. it feels like time travel of the worst kind

this shit right here, though. honestly if that's still your thing, enjoy your life to the fullest. as long as you're not hurting anyone, don't let anyone else bother you.

this anon and i are in the same boat, though. those stars don't have great associations for me, rl or rp-wise, and i feel such big stars like that kill my immersion. any of those faces will send me running, too.

i don't want this to devolve into a 'i hate these fcs specifically' conversation entirely but i want to keep this conversation open! what makes you want to leave a rp server immediately upon joining? keep it coming, i wanna know.

former anon here: i mean for servers where the app is in the server or if they offer the link on the promo/nav on the blog. i've been burned by so many groups in the past its like i join via link. and look around before i apply. does that make sense?

ahhhhhhhhhhhh... tbh i'm not even sure which previous anon this references but that might also just be because i'm drunk for the holiday. regardless, everyone has their own process. no need to justify, i'm just eager to know more about how other people work & maybe even see if there's any way i can make things easier for anyone if they come a'looking our way,

like, me? i have a very brief checklist: is the plot cool? are there diverse muses? is there anyone there i hate? if those check out, i'm down to at least try to interact with the people there and see where things go. i haven't run into too many convoluted apps recently but i can definitely imagine that would deter me, too.

sometimes i join just to poke around and get a real feel for how people actually interact instead of the "we're so cool!" that's the usual from admins. if it's clearly been dead even in ooc a bit i'll bail.

see this i have further questions for, though. do you mean you fully apply and check it out and then leave if it's not up to par? if so, i get it. for me, if i don't see many actual threads IC and the OOC is like one person talking, i'll bail for sure. how do you tell from the outside, though? i see far more people flee before they've even hung around a day, nevermind gotten through the application process.

i typically leave servers if there are people in there i wish to avoid. sadly the discord rp circle is a lot smaller than dash roleplay and its easy to run into the same people over and over again

i feel this so damn hard. there's a handful of people i've never even written with that i've blocked and i feel like i see them everywhere still.

sometimes i just join impulsively and then im like wait I didnt mean it. or if the application process is daunting/takes more time than im willing to spend on an rp im not even sure about, or if the server itself seems overwhelming/ hard to catch up with

completely valid. one of my concerns with our lore is that it seems hard to catch up on and i've been in that same boat, struggling to find the time to dive into everything and actually understand it. one of my biggest fears is applying anyway and looking stupid.

what is it that makes you leave rp servers instantly. tell me. i wanna know. i know what my dealbreakers are but i'm curious what others consider an immediately 'no' for rpgs.

it's been a while. puffala and i just got back from vacation where we got to meet each other in person for the first time! now that we're back, we have lots of plans.

first and foremost, we are placing the group on a summer semi-hiatus. this means we are reducing the activity requirements for the moment as half of our members have already been been occupied with new jobs, summer classes, or just trying to keep up in the heat. we still expect people to keep in touch in the activity and ooc channels and intend to put out numerous prompts and a couple of mini & au events to keep the muse flowing.

at this time, we are still welcoming new members. this may be a great time to join if you prefer to get involved at your own pace. ooc is still plenty active and we plan to regroup mid-august with some new skeletons and major plot developments we'll be working on in the process. feel free to check us out. otherwise, happy summer!
