Feeling incredibly unmotivated in art rn

So I wanna take a page out of my artfight book and experiment like crazy with other ocs!

The Houndoom in question had felt eyes on her. It wasn't malicious, but it still scared her. Curiosity tended to be just as worrisome as malicious intent for her.

When the Mew approached, she looked down at the small 'mon. "Tiny..." she accidentally mumbled, unaware she had voiced the thought aloud.

She huffed slightly, not really because of the Mew, more just due to her own troubles. " Uhm..." She didn't pause long, but it was longer than she should for a very straightforward question.

She stared down the Mew for a second before realizing she should probably say something else. That was the polite thing to do, right? She looked away.

" 'S a nice name."

She paused a moment. " 'M sorry if I come off uhm...rude. Not really havin' the best night. Not that it means I should be rude or anything...but uh..yknow...." She trailed off but then continued after an another awkward bout of silence. "...but...yeah. 'S the reason i just got here. Hadn't planned it. Just kinda stumbled 'cross it n thought it might uhm...improve my mood." Talking to others was hard. In awkward social moments like this, Yu missed not having to worry about things like this.

The Mew continued to float around the snowy landscape, occasionally chitchatting with the other attendees. After a while, he decides he should be getting back home. After all, he didn’t want to keep his friend waiting. One last look around at this magical place, and he’d be on his way.

The structure that the party is being hosted in is one he's never seen even back at home. For as long as he's been around, he'd thought he'd seen everything. He drifts over to the big tree, resting a small hand on it as he propels himself upward along it and eventually out of the top of the building.

It's gotten quite dark out. He can hardly see the sun. It was late afternoon when he left home. He can imagine it's starting to get dark there, too.

"Alright, I suppose it's time for me to get going. I could imagine he wouldn't be very happy if I left him standing out in the cold..."

He's about to focus up again when someone catches his eye.

A Houndoom? Or at least they resembled one. He hadn’t seen them before when he was conversing with others. Had they just gotten here? He's hesitant to approach them. It's not out of fear, more so their vibe. Mysterious and somewhat aloof. It reminds him of a certain someone he knows.

What really grabbed his attention were their horns. They appear to be glowing now that the sun has properly set. And that spiral pattern.

"How.. odd." He finds himself murmuring. He’s always loved different things, things that stood out.

Might as well introduce himself before they catch him staring...

"My name is Hathaway. Are you just now arriving?"

Yu huffs, her breath showing in the cold winter air. "It's...more complicated than that. I can make friends okay but.... they won't really ever know me." Her expression turns dark for a moment, illuminated by the faint but noticeable glow of her horns and pupils. "And that is my fault."

She quickly remembers she is being a bit rude and her expression lightens considerably as she tries to smile. "But um. Thank you for trying to cheer me up." She takes the cookies and candy into her hands as if they were treasures, clearly unsure if she should eat them or not. After an awkward moment of staring at them, she eventually takes a bite out of a cookie and her face lights up with childish wonder. Her tail wags as she eats the rest of the cookie rather quickly. As she finishes she looks back at Alicia and she freezes, suddenly remembering someone was watching her.

She clears her throat. "Thanks." She puts the candies in her pocket and mumbles something about other worlds' delights before adding "for the treats n everything. Excited to try the candies too. Heheh....heh.."

"Hello, not to really bother you or anything, but you're not looking that great now. Really hope this would make you relax here. Can you tell anything that bother ya? If not, that's okay, I'll give you some treats if you want."

Yu looks down at the morpeko, at first caught off-guard by the question. Even with Alicia being a quite tall 6 feet, the strange houndoom scarily manages to beat her height by a decent amount. The rodent seemed nice, and while they were clearly a bit uncomfortable, Yu did not shoo the other away or glare.

They looked at the ground instead, clearly debating an answer. Their face contorted, trying to smile but giving away how terrible they were feeling, though it somehow only added to their intimidating image at the moment. "Mmg..."

It took them a moment, but they eventually came to an answer. "M' not sure if I should keep tryin to bel-uh" They cut themself off, clearly not liking their wording. "I can't seem to get...close to others... It's my own fault, but I just can't bring myself to be ehem...open. Yeah, that." They started trailing off, the last sentence was probably only for themselves to hear.

They shuffled around for an awkward amount of time then added, "I could...go for a treat. Maybe......."

The sounds of whispers were heard in their living room, a conversation she knew was about her. The whispered conversations without her in them tended to be nowadays. Not that she'd ever say that she knew about these conversations to them. They always tried so hard to make sure she wasn't around. Like always, she couldn't bring herself to let them know she was there now, that she could hear them. So she crept back to her room, loudly opened her door, and called out to her partners. To give them time to recover before she officially saw. "Hey, I'm gonna head out for a while, so don't wait up for me, alright?" She turned the corner she had been hiding behind mere moments ago to see the girls looking a little shaken, but hiding behind slightly-forced warm smiles, she knew them enough to know that. A pang in her heart stopped her from saying more besides a goodbye as she grabbed her coat and walked outside.

Yu walked for a while, no destination in mind. She needed to clear her head. She huffed, her breath acting like dragon smoke, escaping her fiery jaws. She eventually found herself seemingly in front of some large winter event taking place. The lights drew her weary heart and mind in. She might as well stay for a bit.
