“I used to pay attention to the clouds in the sky… I paid close attention for a month to see if they ever repeated. They don’t repeat. And I don’t think life does either.”

I don’t know if I’m Christian anymore. I believe in God. I still love Jesus... but I don’t know if I want to be called a Christian anymore.
During my youth group days I was devout. I followed all the rules, loved God, worked on my spirituality, had a meaningful bond to the pastor and the leaders. When they told me not to listen to secular music, I didn’t. When they told me to stop watching tv, I tried. When they told me to burn books like Harry Potter and twilight, I burned twilight. (I would never burn my HP books lol) When they told me to give my entire life to Jesus, I did. I really really did. I was very afraid of the world. I was so scared that I would “fall” into darkness and evil.
The leaders made it seem like Christianity was being attacked. They really did and still believe that the country needs to be a fully Christian nation. The US was not found on Christian values... it was stolen and they used scripture to justify genocide and slavery. Expecting everyone to live by Christian standards is like expecting Americans to not have any divorces. It’s not gonna happen. What makes this country and world beautiful is diversity. Everyone comes from different places and they have different cultures and instead of embracing them fully, I see a lot of christians only accepting part of them. Sometimes they don’t even accept them as fully human but will tell you a fetus is a precious life to protect. Being a hardcore conservative doesn’t mean your a strong man/woman of faith. You guys are using religion as a façade so u don’t have to deal with the real world. The secular world is not as evil as u make it seem. All you think is, “they are so hateful towards us” but have you ever thought why? Probably not because all you guys do is focus on the lord right? Being ignorant of other peoples suffering is a sin too. Christian’s are wondering why people are ending relationships over their support for Trump. Blinded by thinking they’re actually saving innocent lives by banning abortion. If there’s a white savior complex, there’s also a Christian savior complex. That idea of “saving” people by making them Christian… it’s all so funny to me now.
Christian’s need to stop demonizing everything. Watching Pokemon is not a sin. Reading Harry Potter will not make us evil. A women having an abortion isn’t murder and won’t send them to hell. No where in the Bible does it talk about abortion but why are Christian’s so fixated on making it the greatest sin. No matter how many horror stories of self induced abortions we tell them, it doesn’t matter… as long as the unwanted fetus is born.
We tell you to listen to our stories, but u say the only story that matters is the Bible. They literally don’t know what it’s like to live in other peoples shoes. I think religion is used to keep you ignorant only to hold more control over you.
“Ignorance is strength.”
Religion, theology, faith... its all bullshit to me now.
