Happy Name Day

In the Greek Orthodox Church each day of the year is assigned the celebration of one or more Saints. Every Greek person is named after a Saint and on the day that their Patron Saint is honored, they celebrate as well. On this day the celebrating person tends to bring in treats like chocolates to offer to their classmates/colleagues/friends/family. For some, the Name Day is more important than their birthday!

On April 10th, the Orthodox Church honors the 40 martyrs from Africa amongst who is Saint Heracles.
