Rudy sighed and shook his head as Carol described Susie entering Dess’s room and messing with her guitar. Noelle didn't stop her...? She knows how precious it is to the family...!

The red guitar. How the thought of the guitar being the last thing December touched before she disappeared. How, out of all the instruments they gifted her, it was that red guitar that she cherished the most. That, alone, made it priceless.

...damn. Damnit! If only he wasn't stuck in the hospital, this wouldn't have happened. He would have had the girls work on their project downstairs. If Susie asked about the room next to Noelle's, he'd use some good-natured humor to divert her attention back to their studies

Rudy made a note in the back of his mind to talk to Noelle to get her side of the story. Especially to make sure Susie didn’t coerce their daughter to go in the room. He hated to think that happened, but... what could explain them going in their in the first place?

Something did seem a little off in Carol’s description of events. Noelle didn't tell him much beside 'Mom got mad at me.' And, also:
