I miss you so much too, girly! I was in the airport a few months ago and saw a Lufthansa flight going to Zürich, and I tell you, I was sooo tempted to force my way onto the flight so I could come see you!!🩷

Anyway, here's your long-awaited request written in hopes to help cheer you up today. Also, happy Solar Eclipse Day everyone!! :P

Baby, You're a Firework

"We should have brought earmuffs for him. I'm afraid the fireworks will be too loud."

"Phoe, we're literally a mile away from the shoot-off point."

"I think we may have an extra pair in our car from that air show last weekend. Bobby, would you go check?"

"I'd say you could borrow Willow's, but with her hearing problems, she kind of needs them."

"It's fine, Roost. Nat's just overreacting as -"

"I would stop that sentence right now if you ever want kids again, Bagman."

Jake promptly closed his mouth and grimaced at the buffalo-check quilt they were situated upon. Beside him, Bradley snorted as he resituated Willow and Evelyn on his lap. Across the blanket, Bob sent Jake an apologetic look as he rose from the blanket in favor of the royal blue Pacifica parallel-parked between a grey Tahoe and a black F-150 on the curb a few yards away.

"Fine. Tash, I'm sorry. I promise I wasn't trying to be difficult," Jake finally broke the silence, scooting closer to his wife who busied herself with situating baby Jeffrey on her lap.

"I know, I know," Phoenix muttered, brushing her infant son's raven hair when a mosquito flew a little too close for her liking. "I just wish I hadn't forgotten his earmuffs. I had them right by the door."

"If it makes you feel any better, we took Carole to an air show when she was about Jeffrey's age without ear protection," Jenn offered, watching as Lewis and her eldest daughter ran around with their diecast planes a few feet away.

"She didn't even bat an eye when the Blue Angels flew over our heads," Bradley chuckled in remembrance, jutting out his legs in a 'V' shape so Willow and Evelyn weren't so squished together.

"Oh, how neat! Lewis was so sad when the 'Blue Angles' as he calls them didn't fly at the show last weekend," Amanda laughed as she handed Lauren a package of Goldfish from her Vera Bradley backpack.

"I found them!" Bob broke into the conversation, jogging back to their picnic blanket with a honk of their minivan behind him. He slowed his pace as he came closer to his pilot, handing Natasha the pair of light blue earmuffs.

"Thank you, Bob," the raven-haired woman extended, situating the protective device over her son's head, ensuring they weren't too tight. "What would I do without you?"

"In the sky or on the ground?" the WSO quipped with innocence, making the three families laugh, save for Natasha, who simply shook her head at her back-seater with a fond grin.

"Look, they're starting!!" Jenn mentioned, drawing everyone's attention toward the horizon, where colorful blasts of fire exploded in the atmosphere.

The three couples gathered their respective children and watched as bright greens, reds, pinks, purples, blues, and other various shades from the rainbow shot into the sky. The fireworks were accompanied by clear skies that illuminated the stars twinkling behind the blasts of fire. It was the perfect summer night for some fire in the sky - at least, that is what the daggers and their families claimed.

At long last, once the finale of every single color in existence exploded in a loud hurrah of booms and crackles, the three families applauded and rose from their blankets to put the children to bed, exhausted from the days excitement of juicy hamburgers and melty popsicles in the Floyds backyard.

It wasn't until Jeffrey was settled into his crib that Natasha had forgotten to return the earmuffs Bob loaned her.
