[A Notice from The Sodor Heritage Railway]
We apologize for the delay of our usually scheduled programming. As the controller currently exits Tech Week and takes some time to recover, we should be returning shortly!
Thank you for your patience!

Note
You never said in your Dos/Don'ts, so I'ma ask. . .
DO you have any ships/relation ship headcanons for the Crew?
2. Are there any other drivers coming, like Percy or Toby?
Oooooh- good questions! I definitely see a mentor relationship between Edward and James, as well as Edward and Thomas. I love James and Thomas being like brothers, and Gordon eventually having that mentor relationship with Thomas.
As far as romance- I am a sucker for Thomas/Percy/Ashima (don’t ask why- the brainrot hit after The Great Race), I also really like Duck/Donald. Gordon/James is a guilty pleasure, but I don’t believe I’ll be incorporating much in terms of romance on this blog.
And will we be having more drivers join the railway? Hehehehehehe, I do have many ideas to bring some others on board. First of which definitely is Percy! He’ll join us sometime soon. [My other job is about to start soon so I may get really busy coming up, but I’ll do my best to keep up with this blog, as I’m having a lot of fun with it.]

Note
Ooooh, questions for the crew! Thomas; Is Gordon actually as tough as his picture looks?
Mr. Pettigrew; . . . just how old are you exactly, if you don't mind me asking-
Henry; Are you a natural red-head?
Gordon; How long has your hair been grey?
James; Is that eyeshadow your wearing? If so, please give some advice!
Creator; What was your thought process behind making the characters (like, choosing designs, ages, and all)

Railway Fact - The Larger Seagulls
Hello everyone!
My name is Edward, and I’m here to tell you a few facts about the locomotive that I drive! I do hope that you enjoy.
He’s a 4-4-0 heavily modified Furness Railway 21 class- often called “Larger Seagulls” and were created by Sharp, Stewart and Company in 1896- making him one of the oldest of the main running engines here on the SHR.
Tumblr media
This particular loco arrived on the isle of Sodor in 1915, and was fitted with a cab that had dual glazed side windows- a much more characteristic feature of North Eastern locos! He also features tapered, non circular spectacle windows and a higher boiler line- making him much more reminiscent of the NER Class R1.
Tumblr media
There were only 8 Larger Seagulls produced, and they were in operation up until they started being withdrawn from service starting in 1929. By 1931, they were fully withdrawn and scrapped. Making Old Iron here, very special indeed.
Tumblr media
Although smaller than some of the other tender engines here on the railway, their tenders carry up to 3,000 US Gallons of water, and about 3.6 tons of coal! To visualize that, imagine piling two cars into the tender back there. Small, but with certainly enough puff!

Railway Fact - LNER Class A1s
Our number 4 express engine is based off of Nigel Gresley’s LNER Class A1 with a 4-6-2 configuration. That means that this express engine has 4 leading wheels, 6 main running wheels, and two trailing wheels. Many engines can be classified and organized by wheel configuration.
Tumblr media
The A1 class was initially based on the 1914 American Pennsylvania class K4 Pacific, but unlike those engines, the A1s were built with round-topped fireboxes that were more in line with the Great Northern Railway traditions.
Tumblr media
Gresley Pacifics were built to the maximum limits of the LNER loading gauge with large boilers and wide fireboxes that had a large grate area.
One of the most famous engines of this class is No. 4472 The Flying Scotsman, built in 1923 and retired from service in 1963. January 7th, 2016, Scotsman steamed up again and began running on the line as a heritage passenger train.
