OOC: Transfer to begin!

OOC; Announcement

Hey! As you can see, I’ve swapped back the URLs ( @asklusamine and @askpokepelago ) since the Lusamine / Type:FULL event will be closing out soon (before USUM releases is my goal).

If you’re new to this blog, missed parts of the story, or need a refresher, I have good news! I spent the last day updating all of the tags so anyone can read through any of the events in chronological order. The last three events are still somewhat in progress though and will be fully updated later as I transition everything back to normal. The update to the blog summary and the About page will be coming throughout today too!

After the Lusamine / Type:FULL event is over, all of the posts on the sideblog will be reblogged over on a schedule. I’ll post 1 more reminder when we’re about to start the queue. If you followed the side blog, you’ll just be seeing old posts again on your dash. If you weren’t, you’ll see posts but they may not be active events you can submit asks to. Either way, you can block these posts with “#sideblog transfer” tag.

Since I’ve used the break to have some exposure to tumblr’s rp scene, I decided it might be a good idea to make promos for this blog. Honestly, this is a great format for me to collectively write a story with people and not get bogged down in writing/artwork details, but it’s also really disheartening when nobody sends anything. So I’m going to be more direct about trying to get that interaction instead of feeling bummed about it- promos are a good start. I’m also going to try and make a schedule for myself instead of jumping between full throttle and nothingness (wish me luck lol).

For the story itself:

We will be staying canon to Moon’s post-game storyline. However, elements from UltraSun/UltraMoon may be mixed into the picture. No mention of US/UM will be made on this blog until after December 2nd, so if you send in asks with any spoilery kind of connotation, it won’t be answered /till the 2nd.

We will incorporate some of our hiatus time to a small timeskip when we return. You’ll be free to ask how our characters have come along in their journey.

There are two events I would like to do next when we get back to it, and I’m offering a poll to see which you want to participate in first! Click here to vote, do you want to see Gladion come to PokePelago and bond with Mohn or do you want to see Mohn finally travel to Melemele island and visit Moon’s mother, Hala, Kukui, Burnet, and Guzma?

Mohn, do you have any ideas about why the vast majority of Ultra Beasts we've observed don't evolve? I think I once heard from Professor Rowan that 90% of Pokemon from our world are linked to evolution, though that was before quite a few new discoveries.

“Not quite pal, you’re taking what Professor Rowan said out of context! Honestly, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard it though, so don’t feel bad or nothin’. He caught a lot of unnecessary flack when some goofball decided to snip that line out of his lecture.”

“Now this is a bit out of my own study, but I did see the real video from Sandgem Lab to know he was talking about the long process of change in Pokemon and the famous genetic link found in Mew. The context is 90% of known Pokemon to date have the capacity to evolve.”

“Anyhow! We haven’t had the chance to study Ultra Beasts but I… I uh, have definitely seen Nihilego change while in Ultra Space. If we can find an evolutionary link to them, it would be extraordinary evidence that Ultra Beasts are simply ‘Pokemon of another world’!”

“I can’t have you leave. Honestly I’d rather take care of them myself but there’s no helping it now.”

“But it’s stupid to send them on vacation then give them work to do that makes them sick for it...”

“Wait, I know!” He gets back on the phone. “Cipher, I can ask Wicke to send some Aether employees out there to help you take care of them! Would that be okay?“

“Hello! Yes everything is fine at Poke Pelago, don’t you worry about it. I had thought I would call to see how you were doing, pal!”

I think Ultra Beasts and Totem Pokémon can use the Ultra Space Infinity Emanation through that glows aura thing--can humans do it too, like Aura Guardians, but with that?

“Ha ha! That would be weird, wouldn’t it? I’m glad that isn’t the case!”

I wonder how the Totems got so much radiation here in Alola. Ooh, also--anything on Moon and Gladion's ally Beasts or Nebby?

“Oh, I forgot about Type:Null and Silvally! I don’t recall hearing anything about them being successfully brought into Ultra Space, but they have crossed paths with Ultra Beasts… All I’ve seen is total disregard for their value as living creatures though, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they never actually ran them for their Infinity Emanation exposure.”

“(…It’s no wonder Gladion is disillusioned by all of the adults.)”

“What is your take on Lunala’s absence of Infinity Emanation?”

“…She should have more Infinity Emanation than any other Pokemon we know of, but on the contrary, she has none. I don’t even have any hypotheticals to explore on the matter really. There must be something special about Lunala’s physiology to grant her such an immunity… Or perhaps she has the ability to shed her radiation and I’m thinking of it the wrong way?”

“…! Oh, You’re mauoli right? So is it true the Totem syndrome can be passed on to other Pokemon?”

“Our rituals state that ‘a Totem chosen by a fit Captain will harness the sacred power of the altar’, so it hasn’t been analyzed more in a scientific sense. I heard Wicke mention a theory about the Ultra Wormhole radiation falling down and co-mingling into the ecosystem of the area.”

Hey... What do you know about Pokemon or Pokemon inside of Pokeballs going through a wormhole? Well, I mean, UBs get the aura treatment but what of our world's species?

“Oh, I saw that report. So our current evidence draws a correlation to the exposure. As it stands now, Moon’s Pokemon measured lower Infinity Emanation than Lillie does, as well as Moon herself. Similar results were found in Lusamine and that Guzma guy’s Pokemon, though because their exposure was over a greater period of time, these Pokemon were considered to be at abnormal radiation levels just short of Totem syndrome.”

“Ultimately, this all would seem to indicate our Pokeball technology does manage to safeguard Pokemon from irradiation, especially when you consider they all use different types of Pokeballs.”

“...How-?”

“I hacked the data from Interpol’s servers.”

“You think it’s okay to just admit that to me?”

“Sure. There’s not much else the Police can do to punish me at this point and their compulsory need to control the situation is only squandering our time and resources in the meanwhile. It’s their problem if they want to treat me like a walking liability instead of an unique asset.”

“Heh. You’re quite a card, Professor. You’d be dangerous if your head was screwed on tight.”

“Are you speaking personally here, or as a perspective of the police?”

“...Sorry to put you on the spot. I sometimes wonder if they think of ‘Fallers’ as dangerous people beyond the immediate threat of Ultra Beasts to an area. It would answer why they chose to shelter Chief Anabel when she is so clearly willing to serve...”

“You encountered UB-03 Lightning in Ultra Space? How did you get away from it?”

“It’s... kind of painful to recall... ha ha... guess meeting UB-03 in Ultra Space was a... a shocking experience...”
