I can't decide what i find more compelling:
1. Jon lies about his age, but it's completely believable bc he's such a depressed sopping wet tired cat of a man that he genuinely looks 10 years older than he is
or
2. Jon lies about his age, and absolutely no one believes him. They don't bring it up bc there's no reason to, so he thinks he's sneaky while everyone else knows that he's an idiot.

jon being silly-goofy for so much of season 5 ("methinks the spider doth protest too much," playing I spy, etc) but it's because the eye is in full power and pumping him with so much dopamine that he actually has the energy to goof around. he's full of energy and endorphins but it's all because he's powered by everyone else's suffering. makes you think.

Theseus Ship Jonathan Sim is my favorite interpretation of Jon. Jon, who's still full of humanity, but it isn't his humanity, its not real normal humanity. It's the humanity that the few pieces left of him want to have, so he builds it he chooses to be human while claiming he's a monster. Its all the humanity he decided he still had when he woke up, Jonathan Sims, who has decided there IS a door between him and the ocean of knowledge, Jonathan Sims, who has been slowly losing pieces and hasn't gotten them back, but instead has found his own new pieces. Jonathan Sims, who has rebuilt himself from what is at this point is almost from the ground up, is he the same person, is he still human, at what point does it stop? He doesn't know. A facsimile of humanity, Jonathan Sims. Jon who's simmaltainously not human at all anymore, and is pure human, pure, unadulterated humanity.

If you're a horror fic writer, and a fan of TMA, there is an entire secret subgenre of fic you can write where you just make Jonathan Sims read statements from witnesses of your horror fanfictions.

and furthermore, unlike most of jon's other big displays of loyalty, burning gerry's page isn't even a guilt-fueled passive suicide attempt. he's not even having a menty b and trying desperately to wrench back his humanity by proving to himself that he's still in control. it's just pure love of the game (doing something niceys for someone). until that point, he hadn't done something so genuinely altruistic since he asked martin to sleep in his bed.

You all need to hear this:
1. You probably dont suck at your craft as much as you think you do, I bet a lot of people are amazed at what you can make, and
2. If you actually are the Literal Worst In The Whole Wide World at your craft... who the fuck cares? What are they gonna do, call the police on you? Keep making your shitty little things, youre the boss of you, fuck the haters.

man, The Character really strikes me as someone who would struggle with Same Problems I Have, for no apparent reason

Some Museum Storage Notes for anyone writing Artefact Storage in TMA:
They would likely have a warning tape system.
What I mean by this, is in typical Museum Storages, there is some kind of warning tape labelled on boxes with items that may contain things like arsenic, which I imagine Artefact Storage would have its fair share of trouble with, cursed aside.
In the case of a Museum Storage, this tape works just fine, but for Artefact storage, they have a lot of other risk factors to take note of, and so, my best guess of how they handle that, is using different colours of warning tape to indicate the danger level of an item, whether that be supernatural or not.
The tape would also be accompanied by an explanation of why the object is dangerous, for example, a strip of bright yellow and a note indicating there is arsenic present in the object. I can see Leitners having their own colour indicator as well, alongside a danger level indicator.
Yes, they have the Eldritch Horrors to worry about, but there are also the mundane handling issues that want them dead as well.

good smut is really a character study and that is final. i need it to be about vulnerability i need it to be about trust or lack thereof and most of all i need it to be emotional agony. thats what sex is for

i just imagine jon and martin during the scottish safe house period doing all their post-pining domestic stuff and going grocery shopping
and they’re in the checkout aisle and the cashier looks at jon and asks how he’s doing, if he wants a bag, etc etc, and they have a full conversation, check out, walk out side of the store, and jon turns to look at martin with the most confused and vaguely horrified look on his face
and he’s like what did i say something weird
and martin just deadpans:that person spoke in the heaviest, most incomprehensible scottish accent i’ve heard in my life. and you understood them completely.
and jon’s like: ah. oops?
and that’s how they found out jon’s powers of being able to understand people goes beyond language, and applies to accents as well :D
