I'm a fan of fantasy. I like reading and/or watching about characters and creatures in otherworldly realms. Especially when it takes place during a political instability or war. How empires fall. How society collapses. How protagonists overcome hardships and become revolutionists that would fight against systematic oppression!

But I notice that people would have more compassion for fictional characters in these settings. It is up to a point where there are essays after essays about the characters. They empathize with their struggle to survive, such as not having enough food to eat or losing their loved ones in a tragic death.

Seeing all of this leads to one question: Why isnt't the compassion and empathy being extended to the people in Ghazzah? They are genuine people going the most documented genocide we have seen, but there is so much denial and push back from the Imperial Core.

They are almost entirely out of money because of how expensive it is to provide for a family of 3, let alone 20+ people. Whether it is the threat of another attack, the dropping weather temperatures, or the prices for survival, they rely on your generosity to ease their suffering.

Most of us will never know the agony of being a parent that does everything to provide for their child, only to keep coming up empty. Of the immense suffering and self-loathing that comes with being responsible for this little life, and feeling like you're failing: to keep them safe, warm, sheltered, fed. Of holding your child, your toddler, your newborn, watching them slowly waste away from that relentless, gnawing hunger you can't stop (one that you feel yourself). Watching as they howl in pain, and the hollowness that comes when your child becomes too weak even to do that. All the while being totally helpless to stop it because it's not up to you.

Most of us will only see the aftermath of such a thing: a parent carrying the far-too-light shroud of their child, pictured under a headline that details how starvation has taken hold of some given population. Distant and removed from us.

Except that it isn't. There are so many desperate parents who've run out of options, for whom this isn't some abstraction, who are asking—begging—us for our help. Just so they'll be able to buy some of the shit canned food left from the last aid delivery, and a couple loaves of bread to feed their children with. Extortionately pricey because of scarcity, but it's enough to keep their children in a state of "acute malnutrition" rather than "catastrophic hunger", so they'll pay anything for it.

Attacks on NGOs & prevention of aid into Gaza puts every single person there at risk of a slow death due to starvation. Especially children, like Samah's newborn baby boy, her little 2 year-old girl, and their big sister (who's only 9). But we can help. What's pocket money for us, is an invaluable lifeline to parents like Samah. At a time when so many seem to have decided to live in an alternate universe in which deliberate starvation and mass slaughter of civilians is acceptable, we have to do what we can to oppose it. Not to push it away, to ignore it, to decide it's been going on so long we don't care or that it's hopeless so give up, but to grit our teeth, dig our heels in, and say "no, seriously, what the fuck are we doing here?"

Al-Habil Family Massacre

Maha @mahaibrahim12 has informed that the occupation has bombed the home of her husband Ahmed’s family. There were numerous martyrs, including Ahmed’s brother and young nephew. At their funeral, the Al-Habil family and their community deeply mourned the terrible loss. Ahmed held the body of his young nephew during the service.

Maha is terrified that the same fate for her family. Right now, it feels like they are just waiting their turn to become martyrs. Just the other night, Maha sent me a video of her children sleeping on the streets as bombing and shooting occurs all around them.

This family needs your support to both sustain themselves in the immediate short-term, and to be able to evacuate as soon as Rafah crossing opens. The only way they can do this is you. You are their only hope for survival under genocide.

A year has passed since that heartbreaking moment when my wife and children—Katya, Nabil, and Linda—were forced to flee to Morocco in search of safety, leaving everything behind. They departed with no bags, no money, no basic needs for life there, while I remained here in Gaza, unable to join them due to lack of funds.

This year has been one of the hardest of my life; my children desperately need education and a home to ensure their security and stability. However, I lost everything I owned in this war.

My home was destroyed, I lost my job, and I spent all my savings on their journey and to sustain life here. Now, I live in a tent with my parents and my brother, after we miraculously survived being buried under rubble following a bombing that demolished our house. My niece, Seham, was injured in the bombing, and we now have no work, no income, and no hope for a stable life.

I created a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe back in January, well-documented and legitimate, hoping to receive support that would allow me to help my small family and my extended family. Yet, to date, we've only reached 4% of the needed amount.

My family was stable, we lived in peace, and now all we know is the sounds of explosions and the smell of corpses in the streets. We are escaping death every moment. We struggle to get food and drink, as the video showed in a previous post. Video link:

My eldest son Zain's first year at school was a joy for his school, friends and teachers. His life was like the life of any child who dreams of everything beautiful.

My second son, Yahya, was in his first year of kindergarten,and he would wake up early, happy to go to his friends and play.

Or do they now wake up to the sounds of planes and explosions and feel ashamed when they stand in line to get food or water? A terrible difference between our lives in the past and the present. A year between our stable life and the life of war, no education, no games, no life, no security, and no source of income. How long, world, where is humanity, where are the rights of my children?
