Spells & Cookies: Chapter 3
The entire phenomenon was so bizarre that it left Lee flabbergasted. Did the cat just do magic and summon two random strangers into my house!? Wait is he even a cat? Her brain was thinking a mile a minute as she kept on staring at the cat. She was so lost in it that when one of the women spoke, it startled her. "Please excuse the sudden intrusion dear." She gave an apologetic smile as she continued to speak. " Our familiar here has taken a liking to you and wants to adopt you, so I would like to officially welcome you into our coven." "Adopt me??? What do you mean adopt me?" Hearing this the other woman stepped forward and said, "Allow me to explain but before that do you mind if we sit and have this conversation." So, all four of them sat down and what Lee learned in the next hour blew her mind. What Beatrice (the witch who explained) said was something like this. Something went wrong when Earl (the cat) was casting a spell, resulting in him getting accidentally stranded in the human world. The accident had also rendered him unable to do magic for a while. But after fully healing with Lee's help, Earl had summoned Beatrice and their wife Eleanor. "Take your time and give the proposal a thought, okay?" Earl said after Beatrice had finished explaining. Lee nodded her head approvingly upon hearing that. Knowing that magic and witches even existed felt surreal to her. Just a few moments ago she was unaware of their existence yet now she was sitting in the presence of three magical beings. Lee felt like she needed some time and a goodnight's sleep to be able to digest the facts. As if sensing her thoughts, Eleanor stood up and said, "We would like to return home now. If you decide to join us then call out Earl's name and he will take you to our home." Lee bade them goodnight and watched as they teleported. Laying down on her bed she pondered about the proposal. The thought kept her awake for the entire night.

Spells & Cookies: Chapter 2
Over the next couple of days, Lee spared no effort trying to find the cat's owner. She scrutinized every single missing cat poster to see if they matched his description but had no luck. Meanwhile the cat and her had gotten closer to each other a lot. He had started to greet her at the doorstep whenever she returned home and even accompanied her to the cafe sometimes. His wounds were also healing nicely, making him look much healthier. The days were flying by quickly and over the time their bond had grown even stronger. So much so that even the thought of saying goodbye to the cat had become a nightmare to her. Lee was thinking about all these when she abruptly came to a simple conclusion: She will adopt the cat herself. She looked at the cat and asked him, "Do you wanna live with me?" The cat tilted his head and meowed as if agreeing to her proposal. Lee smiled at that and continued with making all the plans. She had never felt this excited ever in her life. However, there was a break in her thoughts when a hissing sound went to her ears. She looked at where the cat was on the sofa but couldn't find him. Meanwhile the noise kept growing louder and louder. It was seemingly coming from her bedroom and Lee rushed to check what it was. The sight upon opening the door though - was truly astonishing. The cat was sitting on the floor surrounded by a glowing golden circle. He appeared deeply focused and was murmuring something. Lee was so stunned that she lost her voice and just stared at the scene. The circle grew bigger and bigger till it transformed into a huge orb of smoke. It emitted a blinding light and then suddenly popped like a bubble. From within all the smoke two women emerged.

Spells & Cookies: Chapter 1
When Lee finally closed the cafe, it had already started to rain. It wasn't her fault though. She had fallen asleep while waiting for customers and by the time she woke up, the last bus to her neighbourhood had already left. Cleaning up and closing the cafe, she started heading back to her apartment. It was a fifteen minutes' walk and on her way she decided to get some take out. She stopped at a nearby food truck and ordered tacos for dinner. Just as she was about to leave something caught her attention. A scrawny looking cat was sitting at the corner of the truck. It was drenched and seemed to be in really bad shape. Lee approached the cat carefully so as to not scare it. It noticed her but remained calm. He meowled softly as she picked him up. While the cat settled in her arms, Lee checked him for any injuries. His right leg had a big gash and he was littered in bite marks. It was nearly eleven and all the veterinary clinics had closed by then, so she decided to take him home. The rain had settled when Lee got home. She patched up the cat as best as she could and gave him some time to rest. After freshening up a bit when she got to the living room, her furry friend had made himself comfortable on the sofa. She offered him a bowl of food and watched him gobble it up. Lee observed that the cat had long, chocolate colored fur that looked well maintained. He was definitely someone's pet and Lee made a mental note to look for his owner the next day. Seeing as the cat had settled on the sofa, she bade him goodnight and went to sleep.
