Once upon a time

Gamora was only a young child when Thanos arrived on her planet. The planet was not in the best of states, but her family was happy. That was, until Thanos killed half of the population and took her, training her and raising her as his own. With her sister, Nebula, she was trained in the different forms of combat, often being forced to battle her sister to see who was stronger. In order to appease her father, she won over and over. At the rate of victories over Nebula, she quickly became Thanos’ favorite, traveling around the galaxy and killing a number of threats to her father.

Despite her loyalty and “love” for him, she despised him. He had killed half of her people and turned her into a monster. She waited for the day she could finally betray him. She saw her opportunity when Nebula and herself were lent out to Ronan to help retrieve an orb that Thanos wanted. Her plan was to steal it and sell it to her own contact - the Collector, but she wasn’t counting on Peter Quill to ruin her plans. Much to her surprise, she joined forces with him and became a Guardian of the Galaxy.

As a Guardian of the Galaxy, it was their job to protect the Universe from all threats. And after hearing about S.W.O.R.D, the Guardians aided in the establishment of Peak. After all, it was the Earth’s way of defending itself from the likes of the Skrulls….again. Gamora did not care about the trivial matters of Earth, seeing the bigger picture of the universe, but following Peter’s lead, she, too, signed the Act, if only to appease the humans.
