eve taught herself martial arts and different fighting techniques and was ready to kick ass but the culmination of it all was to see her dancing at the wedding? why is s4 so dumb

Still can't believe villanelle had a worse death than any of the side characters she murdered on screen. Even her kills were more glorious than her exit. So lame.

THE FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE WITH THE FINALE

I dont think the issue in the finale was so much the death of villanelle as it was about the way it was handled and delivered. For four seasons they chase each other amidst useless filler only to finally be reunited and then murdered in the same breath by a meaningless execution. There's no other message besides "this character cannot live happily because she is wrong". Villanelle didn't even have a last word or some meaningful eye contact with eve (there was no closure). She just died, like she was nobody. And drifted into the sea to be forgotten. It's a completely bizarre and surreal experience because it's rushed and because the real killer is nothing more than the writers own flawed beliefs on normal society getting back at those who don't follow the rules. The 12 or carolyn or m16 or whatever never felt real or like a serious threat to begin with, and to think they killed villanelle is spitting at her intelligence to overcome this obstacle thats why it doesnt feel meaningful or realistic and alludes more to the latter point being made on who the real killer was.

And to add, their perspective on life is flawed. Villaneve ARE clever, and together they're cunning and spectacular. They can think of a way to get out together, and they can decide and have the final choice be in their hands on whether they die together or if they live together with the life they wanna live.

Furthermore, not to say it's a direct parallel, but the whole evil vs good and evil being punished is so false. Bad people are out there in the form of billionaires who hoard and use their cunning or money to protect themselves. They dont get punished. There's no writer writing their wrongdoings and punishing them fairly. It's so childish to think the finale should end with them getting punished for their differences. It's not profound at all, it's simply an internalized ignorant belief that they cannot live happily because they did bad things. Clearly, this shows that the writers are caged, unexperienced human beings who cannot think beyond the normalsy of societal expectations of good vs evil. And that eve needs villanelle to die to be able to kill her own dark side and be able to move on to live a better life as this evil that has taken root is finally conquered (I can go on about how this is homophobic but I know you guys see how)

They ripped away villaneves agency and imposed their own internalized subjective perspective on what is right vs wrong. And as a writer, that's a very unexperienced thing to do.

you’re telling me villanelle has been stabbed, shot by an arrow, hit by a log, tortured and whatever else has been thrown at her. but a random bullet without any real connection or meaning to the plotline is what does her in? like shes some side character or pesky fly that can be deleted without any theatrical exit? that bitch is charming, tenacious, cunning. and a random stray bullet does her in? its clear, it wasnt the 12 or the MI6 that killed her. but the writers. 

and to add shock value to shock value they had to just hone in the point with every shot: even if you have hope she’s alive (that you can make it in this world), you’re wrong, you’re wrong,  you’re wrong, you’re wrong, you’re wrong!
