reblogging just to say I have finally set up aforementioned blog!! it is @skydrifter; you're welcome to follow but keep in mind it isn't a gw2 blog - there will be some gw2, but it's more of a general "video games i like" blog where i will also be posting a lot of my own OCs, both from my head and various media!!

it might be obvious that i haven't been as active here anymore, and honestly i'm just not feeling gw2 tumblr as much as i once did, for a variety of reasons. so i think i will be keeping this blog up as an archive, because i have a lot of stuff here i'd like to keep, but moving to a new, fresh blog where i'll mostly be posting about my own characters, and also other games aside from just gw2. just keeping it small and chill and what i want it to be!!

i'll probably still be making gifs and the like because i genuinely enjoy it, but i am taking a step back from the gw2 space here. i've met some wonderful people through this community that i'm very grateful for, and it's been a good source of support over the years, but if i'm being honest participating has lost its charm for me, again for a number of reasons that i won't go into. it was nice while it lasted and i hope you all stay well <3

that old “you need to relax or the stress will kill you before the thing that’s meant to kill you gets the chance” thing is like genuinely kinda helpful to me when my brain goes prey animal dumb mode and idk how to feel about that

I hate when something has the most delectable lore that just itches your brain perfectly and makes you feel like you’re a hamster about to die a very dramatic death.

But the source material itself either doesn’t go into the lore, or it does but the fandom focuses entirely on other things.

There’s many a time where I finish some media or other with the most 5-star 3-course gourmet meal lore and go online eager for fun speculation and theories and. It doesn’t exist.

My controversial game design opinion is that "environmental storytelling" should be actually, tangibly present within the game's environments. Hitting the player with a paragraph of lore every time they click on a random item in their inventory is not environmental storytelling – it's just hiding an epistolary novel in your game's UI.

rating things that have been said to/about my dog, jasper

that’s a beautiful dog: 6/10 very appreciated but not the word that first comes to mind

he’s gorgeous: 7/10, same as above but slightly higher because the woman saying it sounded genuinely adoring

cute little thing: 9/10 very correct he is a little thing that can be very cute

can I have him?: 5/10 amusing at first but the insistent repeating of it was a bit concerning

what is he?: 10/10 excellent question
