ASTRA: The hacker that caused $361 million in damages.

This post is gonna go over ASTRA himself! This is just gonna be a general overview of him and what he did. I dont have much to work with in terms of sources and information when it comes to ASTRA but this post complies what i do have available in my own terms.

ASTRA, whos real actual identity has never been revealed to this very day since his 2008 arrest, was responsible for causing $361 million dollars in damages for France's Dassault Group and stealing weapons information and selling it off to around 250 buyers from across the world on online spaces. He sold to buyers from country's such as, Brazil,France,Germany,Italy, and South Africa. He also sold to people from the Middle East and Asia. He had a suspected accomplice living in Great Britain that was helping ASTRA find buyers online and like ASTRA his identity has never been publicly announced and it is also unknown if he was even caught in the first place.

He was caught by the Greek police on January 25th of 2008. He is known mainly for the millions of dollars of damages he caused and ironically hes known for being unknown since his identity has never been revealed to the public and possibly (in my opinion) may never be revealed to the world due to it 15 years since his arrest and the only thing that is known about him is that hes a 58 (at the time of his 2008 arrest, as of 2023 he would be 73/74 years old if hes still alive currently) Greek mathematician.

He avoided detection from police and hid by using fake names and renting in different areas in Greece. The last town he hid in before he was caught by Greek police was Athens. ASTRA was classified as wanted the year 2002 and he was able to get away with stealing weapons information and selling it off for 6 years before he got arrested.

After ASTRA´S arrest he was given a sentence of 6 years (which in my own opinion is kind of a light punishment for causing $361 million dollars in damages but hey good for ASTRA!) If he served his full jail sentence of 6 years he would have been released around the year 2014.

Lastly, why did ASTRA commit the crimes he did? Well, theres been no official statement from him of course, but the most probable answer for our question here is that he just really wanted to make money, but there very well could be another reason as to why he did what he did,but for now, the public may never know.
