For bookish asks: 1, 17, & 43! 📖
Hiiii!! Thanks for asking! <3
1: What book did you last finish? When was that?
Last book I finished was 'Beren & Lúthien' by Tolkien and I finished it July 10th! Fantastic book!!!!
17: If you owned a bookshop what would you call it?
Okay so, an old friend of mine and I used to talk about this and we wanted to open a bookshop / coffee shop and/or tea shop and we wanted to call it either "Busy Bees Books & Teas" or "Busy Bees Books & Brews" and lowkey I'm still quite fond of that name
43: Are you the kind of person who reads several books at once or the kind of person who can only read one book at a time?
Several books at once I fear, I gotta have options! I usually have 1 poetry, 1 fiction, and 1 non-fiction book going at all times. I don't have a poetry book going right now because I fear I've uhh run out and need to buy more...... but I think I'm going to start re-reading some until I get around to getting more so
#ask meme#atlanta rambles#oh to run a little book shop#oh the dream#oh to be a little cat lying in a puddle of sun in a bookshop where the customers all coo over me#the life truly

30, 39, 50 for the book ask game!
Annaaaaaa <3
30: Who’s your favorite author?
Oh god, that's such a hard question. Like, for poetry authors specifically, I can hands down say Richard Siken is my favorite. But god for fiction? I love love Maggie Stiefvater and of course I love Naomi Novak so I think I'll go with them!
39: Name one of your favorite childhood books
I loved loved the book series 'Tales of Rowan Hood' which was a series about Robin Hood's daughter and her little band of people she gathers, truly A+ - lowkey I do want to re-read them sometime because I vaguely remember one of the girls having a really kind of fucked up storyline considering that's a kids book but my brain cannot remember exactly what it was
50: Why do you love to read?
It was the main thing I did as a child! I had terrible allergies and asthma as a kid so books were a fun thing that did not involve me struggling to breathe! And then of course I just kept reading and reading and now we're here. I love the worlds and seeing what wild things people's brains can come up with!
from the bookish asks meme
#ask meme#atlanta rambles#also shoutout to#Trixie Belden#Nancy Drew#The Boxcar Children#those were also a few of my favorite favorite book series as a kid

6, 8, 35 for the bookish asks!! :D
Hi! <3
6: Which book was the last one you really, really loved?
The Silmarillion hands down no contest tbh considering I finished it at the end of 2024 and have thought about uhhh basically nothing else ever since I think we can safely say it takes the cake <3
8: Paperback or hardcover? Why?
Hmmm I usually buy paperbacks if they're an option - I like hard backs! But paperbacks just feel nice in the hand ya know
35: Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated
Can I say The Silmarillion again, no no I'm kidding I'm kidding - honestly I don't think people talk about 'The Scorpio Races' by Maggie Stiefvater anywhere near enough and tbh I'm not sure tumblr knows 'A Consuming Fire' by Laura E. Weymouth even exists and ALSO 'The Darkness Outside Us' by Eliot Schrefer deserves a cult following and I'll die on that hill god I need to re-read that book - I don't read much scifi but that book god god god !!!!!!!! insane insane plot twist and just MWAH beautiful plot lovely fantastic jaw dropping Anyway. that's three books but tbh you should read them all
For the bookish ask meme

This has been a topic in one of my discord groups today and I’m so curious what everyone’s approach is as a writer.
Writing linearly means starting at the beginning of the story and writing each scene in chronological order from beginning to end.
Writing non-linearly means you might start midway through the story and write the beginning later, or you might write scenes at random and join them up later, or you add in placeholders as you write to go back to later (like “add action scene here”).
Outlining means coming up with a sequence of plot points to guide the story - i.e. planning/mapping out what the main story beats will be throughout it.
Personally I’m a linear writer, and I don’t outline. I have a loose idea of where the story is going to go, but that’s it. And I can’t skip scenes or use placeholder text — my brain starts shrieking at me lmao.
#9 times out of 10 I write linearly#my 'outlining 'is kind of screwey these days though#didn't use to do it at all#but now I do like scene blocking and will write the first however many sentences of a scene#for however many scenes there are#and sometimes it's a sentence or two sometimes it's like ..... half the scene#so like kind of non-linearly too i guess? even though really that's me outlining so idk

I was watching my silly little smosh videos and y'all look at this ugly little guy - I love him so dearly
I went and looked up some more pictures of him though and honestly they're kind of fucking adorable if you get their good side (granted these are the only two pics I found from a quick image search that are cute.... the other pictures are uhhh not cute. tis a tiny little demon actually but I still love him) (also they're endangered apparently so i love them doubly)
okay also actually the Wikipedia page is very interesting
#atlanta rambles#aye aye#long fingered lemur#random side tangent of the day#they're just little guys#little demonic looking guys granted#but you know it be like that
