An honest review of httyd 2025 by a httyd mega fan.

Going to preface this by saying i was the kid in school who was bullied for liking this movie. I learnt the runic alphabet and went to school with the different dragon class symbols scribbled on my arms in sharpie. I read and wrote fanfictions made amvs and did my hair like ruff for literaly about 5 years. I know the movie word for word. I had to change schools because of how weird I was and how bad the bullying was. 11 yr old me had no chill. I once cried in an arcade and managed to get an employee to give me a toothless plush from an arcade cabinet. I owe him my life.

The casting was fine. I am a twins supremacist. They were my favorites as a kid and i was a little unhinged about them. So. Ruff was awful. They ruined her. Where was "youre crazy, I like that" that line made me gay before I realised I was trans. Tuff was passable. But i did base my whole personality off of him so im willing to let it slide. The twins never got to be 100% themselves in the movies. They were always shelved till the shows. I like what they did with fishlegs. They made him super nerd. More than the original. They also managed to slide in him liking ruff wich i apriciate because i feel like them ending up together in 3 is forced and bad. I like it when snotlout is pathetic. Its funny. I'm on the fence about gobber. Some of his deliveries were a little off. Hiccup was always going to be hard to do perfectly. It's a big role that's pretty iconic. He did fine. Astrid was peak. They made her more badass. Stoic was always going to be incredible.

Why did they cut the terrible terror "not so fireproof on the inside" scene. It literaly sets hiccup up for knowing how to kill the red death.

The music was worth watching it. Hearing test flight and forbidden friendship in theatres again- chills. Literal chills.

Im trying not to be too hard on it because it was way better than any of the Disney remakes. Its on par with beauty and the beast. Its a good all round movie with good cg and good music but the casting on certain characters is questionable.

I truly believe that the twins should have been played by one actor, like glen and Glenda, in the chucky show. Ruff isn't meant to be a girls girl she's one of the lads and that is perfect for her. I am saddened and betrayed but I always was going to be about her. The casting was bad and they changed basically all of her dialogue.

Yeah its a soulless cash grab but it's not bad by any extent. It dosent need to exist. But it could have been so much worse. It lost a lot of it's charm and sarcastic snark but the dragon designs were great and so was the set and music.

TLDR: I could have played both the twins better but aside from that. It's aight. Worth the 20 quid to see it in cinema.

Biggest disappointment of How to Train Your Dragon (2025) is that Hiccup does not say

They made them too interesting looking. Same problem with ram. They're both super stylized so from a gameplay stand point I get why skins have to be to a certain standard of not hanging their silhouette. However. Twitter and Tumblr have both posted some top their concepts. Overwatch should do a dbd and host a fan skin concept thing.
