I hate to break it to y’all but the “cringe” that kids are doing on TikTok (and some of the famed Tumblr cringe for that matter) doesn’t hold a torch to the shit my middle school ass got up to in Scratch fandoms as a kid, circa 2015.

Yes, there were fandom communities on that little coding website with the cat.

Yes, they were godawful.

In my first week on it I got flamed by members of the Mario community because my shitty recolored Luigi OC’s backstory went against an established character that the fandom had already decided was the fanon #3 brother or whatever stupid shit.

The Splatoon OCs were so cringe that a Sonic OC maker would laugh at the unoriginality.

The comment sections made YouTube childrens’ comments look like they were written by child prodigies.

It was noxious, toxic, stupid, and cringe.

And I loved every fucking minute of it.
