Reasons to Support “Home”
As you should know by now, the lead is an adorable lil 15 year old who goes by Tip and is voiced by Rihanna. Let me tell you more about Tip:
She and her mom (voiced by Jennifer Lopez) are both immigrants from Barbados
She’s a big nerd and, as she proudly says more than once to Jim Parsons’ alien character Oh, got an A in geometry
She was treated different by the other kids and had trouble fitting in
OK LOOK AT HER. SUCH a realistic body! Unsexualized, normal clothes, beautiful curls…love her.
Anyway, this movie is about imperialism. It’s not even trying to be subtle, like, first minute, bam, imperialism. So sassy.
Tip’s mom is looking for her, and describes her as: “she’s got big green eyes and beautiful brown skin.” Score.
The crowd shots in this movie are the most diverse I’ve seen; you can tell what an effort they put in to incorporate people of all races and body types. There was even a casual Muslim couple conversing with another pair (don’t remember their races), several dudes and ladies with dreads, just so much diversity I couldn’t even take it all in.
Dreamworks needs your help!!! They’re in a bit of a financial pinch, and this studio is too good to go under.
This movie rocks so please, please go see it!

“You Came Back!”
I just wanted to take a moment to talk about my favorite moment from “The Return” that I haven’t seen anyone mention. The majority of the episode deals, not with the return of the Homeworld Gems, but with the Crystal Gems sending Steven with the evacuees to protect him, as well as his eventual decision to go back into danger to protect his family. When Steven returns to the group, Garnet and Pearl are terrified for his safety. It makes sense. They are the most “Maternal” of the group, and in there mind Steven has no way to protect himself. On the other hand, Amethyst is is obviously happy to see him. She is so relieved that Steven came back, and when we look back at Amethyst’s focus episodes, it makes sense.
In Tiger Millionaire, it’s Steven who unquestioningly supports Amethyst’s wrestling, and later convinces Garnet and Pearl to let her have this one outlet for her wild personality. Steven looks up to Amethyst just as much as he looks up to Pearl and Garnet. She’s not “wild,” “childish,” or “irresponsible” to him. She is fun, she is strong, and she is relatable.
In “On the Run” even though Steven is confused and frightened by the kindergarten, he never connects it to was Amethyst is. True, he doesn’t have a real understanding of the implications of Amethyst being grown by invading Gems, but even when Amethyst is screaming that she is a parasite and a monster, he doesn’t believe her. He tells Pearl that she has to talk to Amethyst, that Amethyst’s feelings are important.
Steven is ostensibly the only person (other than maybe Rose) who has never tried to shame Amethyst for being herself. He has always defended and stood up for her. It’s obvious that she feels safer when he is around. So when he shows up at the showdown against the Homeworld, Amethyst takes it as a sign that everything will be ok. Because everything has always turned out okay when Steven is there.
tl;dr I have serious emotions about Amethyst. She is a small child.

CHALLENGERS APPROACHING!
You all asked for more, so you get more! Here’s Part 2 of my Super Smash Gems series! Since Part 1 was so popular, I couldn’t just leave it at that, so a follow-up was inevitable! It took a while to put these together, but I’m very happy with the result!

This is Jedi Master Karymis Mar-Klaar. Today, history was made as the first female Jedi Master taught the Jedi Training Academy at the Disneyland Resort. Needless to say, it’s easy to see that she has worked hard to earn the title of Master.
