Expecting the full fic on my desk by next Friday
if you were incharge of casting a hamelt au of malevolent who would be who?
Okay so youāre gonna have to Hear Me Out on some of these but trust me I have a vision. Iāll admit this was harder than I thought it would be because all I had were bits and pieces of character pairings and I had to somehow turn it into a cohesive cast.
Also important note: this is a Benevolent Production, casted and directed by your very own Kayne
The casting and yaps:
Hamlet: John. Unconventional choice, but bound by choices all the same. (The patrons). Often caught up in plans too large for him to handle alone, although he feels he needs to.
The king/ghost: i might lose you here but this one would be Yellow. Thereās so much guilt between John and Yellow, and of course John feels like he owes Yellow something.
Claudius: the king in yellow. Self explanatory
Gertrude: okay donāt execute me but Iām going to say Lily. That source of light and helpfulness for John but ultimately not enough. (Also from the hospital and harpers hill which is tainted by the king in yellow)
The players: the dancers
Horatio: Arthur. Johnās other half, they keep each other balanced, they trust each other. Also Horatio is the only one left alive and Arthur doesnāt like staying deadĀ
Ophelia: Charlie. See essay I wrote about the symbol of Ophelia in malevolent. Also a win for Charlie/John shippers. (But at what cost)
Laertes: Oscar. Now before you leave Iām changing the dynamic of this family. Theyāre not father and his two kids itās more of like⦠these two wronged by hamlet are also under the charge of Polonius. Also I need Oscar to fight John
Polonius: Larson next question. Anyone ever tell that guy brevity is the soul of wit?
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: Parker and Eddie. Why? Kayne thought it would be funny. Also two people John killed, tragic and pointless and forgotten quickly.
Fortinbras: Kayne. He couldnāt resist a grand finale and joining in on the fun! He parades into the gorey mess of act five, and also gives me a chance to write arkayne at the very end. I serve my own purpose.
YEAH so thatās the casting hope you enjoy this was way harder than I thought it would be. Also thinking about the Lillith vers but I couldnāt get a full cast :(

No wait, random worldbuilding idea:
A people who have an age-old tradition, that when warriors left home to go to war, their family that remains home prepare funeral goods for them while they wait, sewing them the clothes and preparing the tools and all that they will be buried with - to emotionally prepare them to the hard possibility that the one who left will not return home alive. If the warrior returns, their burial goods are all burned in a bonfire that is lit for the celebration of their return.
And to this modern day, mothers of the culture will tell their children "fine, but let me take your measures for burial clothes before you go" as a way of telling them that something they're about to do is lethally stupid. Sharing stories about just how dramatic their mothers are, someone tells their group of friends that his mother once actually took out a measuring tape to start taking his measures when he said he's leaving home for a work trip.
And another one goes "pfft, yeah. This one time I went to a rock concert and came back home to mom sitting on her sewing machine, fucking making me a funeral coat."

Grave offerings and burying the dead with tools and goods is actually such a deeply human thing to do. It's not really even necessarily about how much you believe in a literal afterlife or them taking the tools with them. It's also just going Wait, I'm Not Done Taking Care Of You, let me make you one more pair of socks so your feet won't be cold when you go wherever it is where I can't follow.

I just came up with a really inconvenient, possibly unplayable four-player game: The Evil Advisor
All you need is a completely normal chess board and a deck of cards that you can somehow divide into an even amount of cards that mean "yes" or "no". Out of the four players, only two need to know how to play chess - those play the role of advisor. The other two play as rulers. At the start of the game, both advisors pull a random card from the deck, which dictates whether their goal is to win the game, or lose it. They keep their respective card, showing it to nobody else.
The rulers, who ultimately choose where to move the pieces, always aim to win the chess game, and also know that the advisor may or may not be on their side, and don't know whether to trust the advisor or not.
If the ruler wins the chess game, they win the whole game. An advisor only wins if they reach their own goal - if an advisor's goal was to lose, but the ruler wins, the advisor loses, and vice versa.

"Well, how do I look?"
"In my most humble opinion, I think you look quite lovely."
"What about the least humble?"
"What?"
"If that's your most humble opinion, then what is your least humble one?"
"Hmm. In my least humble opinion, I believe that anyone who sees you in that dress and cannot be you or have you should want to kill themselves."
"Nice."
