The Date || Lilith and Avery

Avery had been initially challenged by the idea of his perfect date. He had never really dated. So it had taken a little time to come up with his plan and set it up. Now it was here and he was greatly looking forward to it. He left out the outfit on their bed and a small note saying he would return in one hour to collect her.

Lilith: Perfect.

Lilith: Anything particular you'd like me to wear for you?

Avery: I'll pick it out. You'll see.

Avery: Friday night.

As soon as she heard the music, Lil knew where to find Avery. Being stuck on a boat with a bunch of strangers wasn’t exactly her idea of a fun way to spend the evening, but at least she had Avery to keep her company. Settling herself onto the Wolf’s lap with a chuckle, she looped an arm around his neck, wiggling with excitement. “Oh, really? Am I allowed to know any details yet?” 

As her arm went around his neck, he leaned in to sniff hers and place just a quick little lick on the curve of her throat below her ear. Satisfied he settle back again slightly to meet her eyes. He was about to answer when he heard a scream from outside the room and the music came to a screeching halt. Rising to his feet, he placed Lilith on hers but kept the bulk of his body in front of her, hand still woven through hers. “Stay with me.” he whispered to her.

Avery sat in rapt attention as the musicians played. The boat part was significantly less interesting that the music. As his pretty female approached, he reached over and tugged her down onto his lap. He leaned in and whispered, “I started to plan our date little songbird.”

     “LOOK, IT’S NOT  that I’m saying there aren’t like – stuffy and practical uses for magic,”  she said, shrugging,  “it’s just that – well.   What’s the point of being a psychic if you can’t photobomb every unsuspecting human that passes ?  like.   What’s more exciting than simple mayhem ?”

“I’m not sure what you mean? Do you just go into their minds?” Avery considered and realized he would not enjoy his thoughts always being read in such a manner. “What if what you see disturbs you?” he asked curiously.

After her turn, Lilith sat back and watched eagerly as Avery made his attempt. When the end came about looking too close to call, she bit her lower lip, trying not to grin. “I think we should definitely both win. You plan your perfect date, and we’ll see just how naughty I can be, really earn that spanking. But I do think you should take that bunny. It is awfully cute,” she teased, reaching out and twining her fingers through his. “What do you wanna do next? There’s a whole lot we can see or do before the fireworks.” 

“All right. I like that arrangement very much.” Avery replied before leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. He collected the small bunny and carried it with him as he held her hand. He didn’t recall holding hands with anyone before. It was rather nice. She felt very small. “Hmmm... do you want to walk around the selling tables or get food?” he offered solicitously as he was already picturing a date that his small female might enjoy.

Lilith flushed a deep red when Avery called her bluff and she shook her head quickly. “Nope. No need to tell him anything. I’m sure his day will go just fine without you sharing that.” As much as it had caught her off guard, she did enjoy it when the Wolf teased her. Especially if it made him smile. The more time they spent together, the more often he smiled around her, and Lil adored it. When the game started, her aim had been slightly off, but after a few seconds she was hitting the target. After that it seemed like the game was over in a flash, but she was fairly proud of herself, even if losing was definitely not a bad option. She leaned over and bumped Avery with her shoulder, grinning sweetly up at him. “Your turn!”

Avery chuckled softly. “As you wish my little songbird.” He murmured as enjoyed the flush of her cheek. He watched her play and was impressed at how well she did. She was a clever little Witch. He found the game more unusual than he expected and his victory was not a certain thing. In fact, by the end it appeared they were about tied. “Hmmm.... so both of us win or neither of us?”

“I’ve been doing this work since I was six years old and could hold a wrench properly. I’ve worked for this since then and I finally was old enough to take the certification course. I’m just so jazzed it went through,” she couldn’t help but gush. Her hard work paid off. Especially since she was the best of her siblings at running diagnostics. Machines spoke to her. “Yeah, Hecate. She’s back at the hotel, we’re meeting up later. I’m too excited to celebrate this sober. But absolutely. Let’s do it.”

Avery nodded approvingly. Clever women were what he was accustomed to and at least this female’s work made logically sense to him. So he could be pleased and understand it. This was very good. “Yes. That is her name.” he agreed. “Come, we will get you a drink to begin your celebrations and you can finish the night with your mate.”

Avery looked impressed. “Nice. That’s a lot of work I understand. Congratulations.” He replied cheerfully. “Can I buy you and your .... where is your girlfriend tonight? The sparkly redhead right?” He glanced around curiously. “Anyway, drink to celebrate?” he offered.

Finally, the day had arrived. It was the day she’d looked forward to since she was six years old and she helped her father change a flat. 

Skyler Nevaeh Abbott was now, officially, a certified mechanic. It wasn’t a lucrative industry, but she could now work in a garage legally and eventually open her own. She sat at Witch’s Brew, a shot of tequila in her hand.

“It’s not much, but I am drinking because I’m finally a certified mechanic!”

“A good deal for both of us” she corrected just as quietly before letting out a throaty chuckle. “I’m counting on that, Avery, believe me.” She moved over with him to the water gun race game, giving him a squeeze before moving to settle onto one of the stools. After tossing a couple of bills on the counter for the two of them, she turned back to Avery, patting the stool next to her with a grin. “So what other prize are you going to pick if you win?” she asked, nodding up toward the stuffed animals hanging from the walls as she took hold of the small squirt gun, weighing it in her hands. “I mean, you could tell the man behind the counter the prize you really want, but somehow I think that’s something you’d rather keep to yourself,” Lil added with a laugh.

Avery looked at the little Witch and said, “Are you sure about that ... cause I will tell him ... if you want me too.” He teased with a soft laugh. “I’ll take the little stuffed bunny. Reminds me of dinner ... and your sweet little bum.” Avery dusted a kiss over her cheek and watched her try her hand at the game.

“Oh?  Things going that well with your cute little witch?”  Dei laughed softly, nudging his brother’s arm.  “I’m glad to hear it brother.  You two seem a good match.  And she’s pretty.’

Avery shrugged cheerfully. “We enjoyed the American holiday celebrations. There were many fun games.” And he wasn’t talking about at the festivities but he wasn’t about to share such detail with his lovely sister. “She is. But she is also very ..... fierce ... just in her own small way.” Avery commented as he turned onto the freeway that would lead to the wild green space where a wolf could safely run. “What else have you been up to Dozer?”

She climbed into his car and perched on the chair, watching the man with amusement.  “I’ve been talking more with my vampire yes.  I saw her on the fourth of july.  And she got me a pretty necklace. How are things with your witch?”

“Good.” Avery nodded with a soft sigh. He was genuinely worried about his sister’s marriage, wanting nothing more for her than to be genuinely happy. He had learned a great deal about her during their time in New Orleans, including the fact that her birth mother’s status in the pack troubled her as much as it did. It never occurred to him if he were honest. She was only ever Dozer - his sister. “My witch is ....” A smile quirked his lips thinking of everything they had done the night before, “A very good female.”

Dei quickly stepped into her room to change into shorts and a T-shirt, doing her best to be quick before her brother became too impatient.  “Give me a minute brother!”  Laughing a bit, she came back out and kissed his cheek. “Come on! Lets go mr.impatient.”

He felt better when they stepped outside and there was air over his skin again. He walked over to his car and opened the door for Dozer, waiting until she climbed inside before slamming the door after her. He circled around. “So have you been talking much to your Vampire?”
