a small idea came to mind, i was thinking about this and maybe I should draw it, I guess it’s a head-canon?? maybe ill make some head-canons in the next post :)

anyways ill tell ya!

Johnny, despite being known as the pet of the gang and practically the runt, was extremely talented in art and music. extremely talented. he drew realistic pictures of the gang and of the world he wished it could be. he also was a song writer and sang his own songs he made. he had a beautiful voice, very lovely, a few minor voice cracks, since he wasn’t a fully developed man yet but he rarely used his delightful voice to sing. he’d save all his work, hoping one day, it could go out to the world and the people could see what he made. his pictures and songs had deep meanings in them, mostly about the world he was currently living in, some would be about his home life but mostly it was about hoping he could someday change the world when he grew a bit older. he tried to show his pieces to the gang but they wouldn’t bother to look and only pushed him away or simply ignored him. but the two people he wanted his pieces to be noticed by was Ponyboy and Dallas. but did it ever happen? sadly no. he mostly came to Ponyboy, always asking once he finished a piece he’d been writing for a song for quite some time if it was alright. but the younger boy would always say he was busy as if his things were more important than Johnny’s. and the same would for his stunning art pieces. it happened each and every time, he first lost hope in Dallas and now he was losing hope in Pony. all those hours of hard work and dedication felt like shit to him, as if the drawings and writing weren’t perfect enough to them. all the work went to waste and he felt disappointed in himself like he wasn’t enough. when tragedy struck and he passed away, Pony one day came home from his classes and went to his room like usual, he sat down on his bed and threw his socks off and relaxed. but when his bare feet touched the ground, he heard a paper crunch. he glanced down to see a paper, it was all crumbled up. he picked it up, seeing Johnny’s name on the paper and a title which said ‘One Day’. It was a piece of paper with lyrics on it that Johnny had left nearly days before the night of murder. Pony thought it was nothing until he began to read each and every word of the song. when he finished, he was holding the crumbled paper in his hands, now trembling with tears running down his face. he looked down once more to see another paper, it was a full drawing of both Johnny Cade and Ponyboy Curtis as younger kids based off a photo that Mrs. Curtis took years before she passed away. Ponyboy then smiled weakly as tears fell onto the beautiful art piece, gently tracing Johnny’s smile on the paper. he realized he made a mistake, he began to remember all the times he had pushed and ignored Johnny when he tried to show him something. now he sat there feeling like the cruelest person in the world for doing that to his bestest friend. now he was left all alone, without Johnny, wishing he could tell the slight boy that he was sorry. but that never will happen now, will it?
