So I haven’t finished a fully rendered art piece since like…… September? Last year? Yeah-been a minute 😅. Life has been quite hectic. Have a bite sized snip of a much larger WIP I’m working on for a close friend~

I wanted to redraw these panels from Robots in Disguise issue #22, "Soundwaves".

Such great dialogue between the two of them here.

We were fighting with the composition and the format of the sketchbook, as we wanted to make this nice split - light parts for Soundwave, and dark backgrounds for Megatron. Ultimately, it led us to an interesting idea:

Normally in the notebook they look like this

Megatron needs to be contained, as he hates to stay on his place when the page is turned XD

They are both connected to the background with specifically bent paper that allows to hide them if the notebook needs to be closed, or extend them to their correct positions on the light and dark side of the piece.

It also makes this cool effect of the two falling together through space, as they are not firmly glued to the pages, but it's unfortunately not that visible on the photo itself ;-;

HOOOOOOO BOY starting the new year off with a Soundwave painting that I thought was going to be a QUICK piece. Haha nope it took about 20 hours :)))) ANYWAYS this pic has a lot that went into it, with the main inspiration being Kintsugi and the album cover for Broken Machine by Nothing but Thieves (by the way that album is pretty much ALL bangers and I have a couple songs from it on my Sweeb playlist :,)) There’s also some stuff on this that references my RiD2015 rewrite project ;) No, I will not be elaborating on WHAT that stuff is 😘 Oh yeah. All that Cybertronian is translatable <3 I’ll be putting this bad boy up on my Redbubble later because methinks it’ll make a good phone case and I need a new one anyways <33
