The scene where Yelena and Ava are kind of teasing Walker while they’re talking about weapons kind of breaks me. Like, I’m sure he’s a bit aware they’re making fun of him but he’s really happy to be included and apart of something. His tone of voice is different, calm and like he’s just hanging out with friends. I flash back to tfatws where Walker and Lamar continuously tried to work with Bucky and Sam and kept getting shut down and now he’s with a lil team who actually kind of wants him. I’m gonna throw up.

rewatching the hunger games movies and i'm actually insane about the epilogue having two primary colors featured and it's katniss and peeta's favorite colors, the green of the meadow and the orange of the sunset, those colors creating a peaceful afternoon just as katniss and peeta have created a peaceful world for their children

This may be my favourite scene from the whole movie,

When Yelena said in the vault that Val was getting rid of them cause they were burden, John immediately said "speak for yourself cause not me" or something like that. It may come off arrogant but if we look deeper, it came from a belief of being valued and not being a burden like he was to US government who discarded him without blinking an eye after everything he did for his country.

Then came Val with a friendly caring attitude and manipulation, giving him a false hope for a clean slate, told him he is valuable. You can look up the scene at FATWS, how he was nodding and shaking his head along Val like a child listening to his mom (she did the same with Bob in TB, acting all motherly to control him, to give her the parental figure he never had).

John fell for that manipulation unlike Yelena and Ava who probably guessed Val was shady (female intuition at its best) and accepted their fate as being replaceable.

But to John, it came off as another stab in the back. Cause he got used as a tool again, being discarded when he ran out of use.

That's why he was more aggressive while facing her. Because he couldn't believe the person he trusted again, betrayed him like that.

You'll see how he developed trust issues after realizing Val's betrayal. Not trusting Ava to come back or Yelena to help. But when they proved him wrong, he didn't hesitate to risk his life to keep them safe.

Shielding Ava behind his back to protect her against bullet, shielding Bucky, helping Yelena, even removing the sharp blade from his shoulder to help Bob.

He oddly reminds me of dogs. Show them ounce of affection and you'd get a loyal friend for life.

Of course he has fault and acts like a jerk. Same as a wounded dog barking and biting the hands that trying to help him.

I'm not dissolving him of his faults but I can understand why he acts like that. Notice how he stopped being rude to everyone after leaving the vault?

Cause in his mind they're already his trusted allies who won't betray him. His behavior changes to friendly instead of hostile. Like a wild cat getting tamed lol.

I don't know what type of dog he would be but if he was cat it'd be Pelas cat or a stray cat - grumpy and hissy at first but all friendly after trusting you. 🤣

PS: John is a bottom even in straight relationship. You can't convince me otherwise.

I doubt that MCU writers ever really intended to make John Walker a true charming character, but time and time again, this man proves to be the single most beautifully tragic figures from the franchise.

From a boy who aspired to be a hero like Steve Rogers, to a young adult that was enlisted in the military and improved himself beyond human limits to become the pinnacle of mankind evolution both mentally and physically, continued his path and earned three badges of honor with no superpower which earned him the right to be given the mantle of Captain America, and he was so humble about it that he was willing to endure all insults just to have Sam and Bucky guide him. The weight of expectations heavy on his shoulders, the scars of war sins fresh in the heart, he became bitter and no one was really there to help him when he was falling. No one gave a damn, as if he was not a hero at all. He lost his friend in war, and his killing of a man that almost helped kill not only John himself but also Sam and Bucky did taint his image. The same Bucky and Sam who treated John like he was a warmongering soldier, John still cared about their well being but all they wanted was the shield and breaking him down. John lost his job, the world turned on him, and that suffered him. It put such toll on him that even his wife took their child and left him, which still haunted him.

When Yelena asked what is going on with John whilst he was mentally influenced by Void to relive his nightmare, he said "i am fine." All that bossy attitude and bitterness is a facade that makes it so easy to mistake him for one of the biggest jerks they will ever see in his life. They belittle them, even accuse him of killing an innocent man who was in fact an active terrorist, but he still cooperates with and supports Yelena, Bob, Ava and Alexei. Then Bucky comes, and perhaps Bucky is now the only person who is sort of on terms with John, Alexei being the only one who was never mean to John, and John does not flinch to jump in to save Bucky disregarding his own well being when bullets were about to lay waste to the winter soldier. John looks out for Ava when he barely knew her to save her life, and he never stops revealing his true self to the audience and his team.

There is a rage that he conveys through unkind words, but his eyes tell so much about the sorrowful soul of his that aches for a sense of belonging. He desires respect and fair treatment, and by remaining resilient and sacrificing it all, you can say he finally has a family he can count on with Thunderbolts.

John Walker is a perfect soldier. But, what matters most...

Is that he is a hero with a golden heart.

His story really tears my heart to piece.
