In season two of Buffy, before everything went crazy, there’s an episode where we meet Kendra.

In that episode, Buffy tells Angel that she wants her life back. And out of all the things he could have said, he says, ‘Before me?’

A 200-year-old man not even a 13-year-old would have said that.

That’s the difference between Angel and Spike.

Angel makes Buffy’s life revolve around him.

Spike, on the other hand, would never say ‘before me.’ He would offer several solutions so she could have the life she wanted.
