"Don't give him a prop. Don't leave a prop within his reach. Because you're always gonna get some sort of baffoonery with it. I was just like, 'Oh my God, what's he doing now?' While he's doing that, we're missing important exposition. But, more often than not, it turns out to be a lot of fun, but uh, sometimes you go, 'Oh my God, take that cup away from him.' And the more you try to take it away from him, the more he wants to pick it up and play with it."
-Michael Shanks, on directing Ricard Dean Anderson (Commentary, Stargate SG-1 | "Double Jeopardy")

a scene must be included PRIOR to sex where the characters READ their birth certificates OUT LOUD so the reader will know they were born on the SAME DATE to avoid any disgusting AGE GAPS

You ever been in a fandom with a big ship that makes you feel like you’re looking at one of those colour blindness tests and you’re failing, like idk what y’all are excited about it but I cannot fucking see it

Jack O'Neill whump
Stargate SG1 is famous for its Daniel Jackson whump, but the show creators seemed to enjoy beating up all their characters 😈

This is your semi frequent reminder that there is no official AO3 app
All those are unofficial and available on the Google play store as of August 13th 2025. They mirror AO3's content and insert ads, for which the developer gets paid by page impression (that's every time the ad appears in the fic you're reading) not just clicks.
No money goes to AO3, nor to the fic writer. It goes to the person who did the bare minimum.
Many of these apps have poorly worded or non existent privacy policies, so they may also be mining as much data as possible and selling that on to unknown third parties.
Please, just use the official AO3 site and the browser.

it's fascinating to me when people announce they're leaving a fandom. personally if ive ever had even a passing interest in a piece of media that baby is taking up permanent residence in my brain. there are shows i haven't watched in 15 years that i would still consider myself a fan of if it happened to come up in conversation. what do you mean you can just leave. how.

My lukewarm take is that one of the greatest privileges of all is the ability to exist as the «default setting», being seen as just a person, and not as a representative of a group of people who share your gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or cultural/religious background. Which is why the «not all men» pushback against any mention of structural sexism was what it was. Because suddenly people who were used to being the default setting were being made into representatives of their gender, having to prove that they were better than the stereotypes forced upon them. And they did not like that one bit.
