These Beautiful Ponds in the Utah Desert Are Not Photoshopped
Located in Moab, Utah, these stunning deep blue body of waters are potash evaporation ponds. Although they are an artificial creation, the drying ponds’ purpose is used as the world’s largest producer of potassium chloride or potash. Known as the most important fertilizer in the world, the potash is harvested deep within the Earth.
They are created by inserting hot water into the reserve. Then it becomes melted and is pumped into the surface. Once they evaporate within 300 days, the crystals are the only remains.
Although the brightly colored ponds seem out of place, their beauty behaves as a powerful and stunning juxtaposition against the dusty landscape.
