Jackie/Nat + mean
"Why are you so fucking mean all the time, Jesus!"
That hit Jackie right in the gut. No one had ever called her that before, likely because she never was mean to anyone else, but something about Natalie Scatorccio got under her skin the way no one else ever had before. In her teenage brain, she assumed it was dislike for Nat's brash, unapologetic ways — so completely opposite of Jackie's carefully crafted image — and that stirred up a flurry of emotions inside of her, namely jealousy, but also something else she couldn't quite name, and that terrified her.
So, she did what came easily to her; to belittle and project onto the other girl, even though she tasted bile with every hateful word that escaped her lips, because the alternative was to accept that she didn't hate her at all, quite the opposite in fact, and that was something Jackie Taylor could never admit.

Dr. Samira Mohan, Dr. Trinity Santos, and the fine line of using personal experience and trusting your gut…
Samira Mohan listens to Trinity Santos treat their patient Jenna. Mohan’s method of care is based on establishing trust and connection with her patients. Santos comes in with a different perspective—and a lot of baggage, too. Distraction? She should nip this in the bud. She wonders if the doctors in charge of her father’s care thought their personal experience mattered more than her father’s own feelings. She wonders if one of the doctors on the team who failed her father tried to distract him, too. She knows it didn’t work. He was hurting, and he didn’t get the help he needed or deserved. Samira can’t forget that.
Trinity Santos listens to Samira Mohan’s observations on her bedside manner. Santos is highly opinionated, yes, but she can take constructive criticism. Aggressive energy? Okay, yeah, she probably needs to tone it down a notch to better help her patients. But she can’t let up when her instinct screams at her. She has ignored her instincts before, and when she did, she failed her friend. She was hurting, and she didn’t get the help she needed or deserved. Trinity can’t forget that.
Santos trusts her gut, using her personal experience to save a patient’s life. She takes the fall for a delay in care that wasn’t hers in the process. Grief is traveling through time, making its way to the present, its claws long scarred in Samira’s skin. In every patient, she sees her father in the way doctors handle their care—guess she’s bringing her own baggage, too. Maybe this is the type of doctor that her father needed, someone who trusted their gut and was willing to act on it. Maybe there was a doctor on her father’s team who knew they were missing something, but didn’t speak up. She should encourage this. Patients need a doctor like Santos (her father probably needed a doctor like Santos). Mohan listens to her instincts in the way Santos does, and she succeeds in helping her stroke patient, Vera. A good balance of patient advocacy and trusting her gut based on her medical training. That’s what her father needed. When Santos is doubted and berated by Langdon, Mohan tells her she is very good at this job. A doctor like Santos needs to make it here.
Mohan trusts her gut, saving a patient with an intracranial bleed from a method seen in a case report. She makes a quick decision. Grief is traveling through time, making its way to the present, its claws long scarred in Trinity’s skin. It comes back in full force as she looks at this patient, Max. He doesn’t think his life is one worth living. Her friend thought that, too, and she doesn’t spend a day regretting that she couldn’t stop her from thinking that way. Well, if Mohan can speed up, then Santos can slow down. Here, maybe, is when her personal experience is germane. Here, maybe, she can make her experience count. She can try some “I” statements and hopefully get through to him before it’s too late. She can establish trust and a connection with him to the extent that she handles his care, so he doesn’t fall through the cracks like her friend did (like Mohan’s father did, too). When Mohan makes a risky choice even though her confidence has been waning all day, Santos tells Mohan, “That’s sick.” A doctor like Mohan needs to make it here.

could i ask for lottienat + 'finally'? 🥹
Lottie is frozen in place, eyes wide in shock as she registers that Natalie is kissing her, her Natalie is kissing her. After all of these years, she'd lost hope of every seeing her again, let alone her longtime feelings being reciprocated.
When she feels Natalie pull away after a lack of a response, Lottie pulls her back in, wrapping her arms around her neck and pressing kiss after kiss to smiling lips, giggles filling the space between them.
When they're forced to separate after oxygen becomes necessary, they rest their foreheads against one another and soak up the moment, Lottie breaking the silence a few seconds later.
"About damn time."
