Supply Air Respirators:
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA’s) use supplied air from a cylinder carried by the user.
Airline respirators require a compressor or cylinder(s) and an airline hose to the user.
Supply air respirators are necessary in oxygen deficient atmospheres.
When using a supply air respirator, have a back-up person with a SCBA standing nearby.
Air-Purifying Respirators:
Air purifying respirators use ambient air and cannot be used in oxygen deficient atmospheres, immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) atmospheres, or areas where the identity or concentration of an airborne contaminant is unknown.
Ambient air is purified by a chemical cartridge, canister, or particulate filter.
Users must select the proper cartridge/canister/filter.
Cartridges and canisters must be replaced if the user notices an odor, taste, or throat irritation. Wet, damaged, and grossly contaminated cartridges/canisters must also be replaced.
Powered air- purifying respirators use filtered ambient air in a positive-pressure continuous flow mode.
Disposable or single-use respirators are made of cloth or paper and are primarily used for nuisance dusts or odors.
All filters (HEPA, dust pads, and disposable respirators) must be replaced if any of the following conditions occur: Breathing becomes difficult.
Filter or dust respirator becomes damaged, visibly dirty, wet, or contaminated on the inside.
Mask Types:
Full face mask covers the face from the hairline to below the chin. This type of mask provides eye protection.
Half-face mask covers the face from above the nose to below the chin.

Some Narrative/Storytelling tips from an wanna-be writer
Use interesting character names
Why name your character Sarah when you could name her something more complex and memorable like Lexington or Hazel? Basic run-of-the-mill names come across as boring and are likely to make your character more bland as a result. There’s a reason that people remember Katniss and Peeta over Sophie and Josh. Also, you can add name symbolism to enrich your themes and characters. In Siddhartha, the main character shares a first name with the famous Buddha and the themes of philosophy and religion are that much more complex. (Plus it’s a cool Easter egg)
Use Symbols and Motifs (that are relevant to the plot/theme)
These can be anything, from religious symbols to ancient civilization motifs, heck even death. In Croak, the main plot is centered around the idea of death and the afterlife so symbols like black hoods, scythes, and even death puns are littered throughout the series. In Kill la Kill (manga not book but whatever), scissors, thread, and clothes are used to relate to the plot of sailor uniforms and fashion (as well as deep symbols to the themes). You want to give your book a vibe instead of a hodgepodge of different ideas and themes stacked on top of one and other. Be focused and direct with your setting and symbols.
Strike a balance between introspection, dialogue, and description
The worst thing, personally, for reading old classic novels is that there is so little dialogue and character interaction. Almost everything is description or character introspection which can be a drag to get through. On the other hand however, barely anyone wants to read straight scripts with only dialogue. There needs to be a healthy balance between the three to get a good feel for the characters, the setting, and the relationships and bonds.
Don’t be so blatant with your themes
Nothing’s worse than having a character bring up deep philosophical conversation in the middle of a casual conversation. Your theme, if you include one, should integrate seamlessly into your story and should really be shown rather than told. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is an anime that accomplishes sliding philosophical thought into conversation to great effect while still feeling natural. There also shouldn’t be a huge time stopping conversation spilling all your themes out at once. Take it slow and make it meaningful, not some gaudy piece of crap.
*These are just a few things I’ve noticed! Of course there are exceptions and this isn’t the end-all-be-all when it comes to good storytelling. Feel free to add more!

The Bike and the Boat
Emma and Killian take a day out from Storybrooke’s chaos to enjoy a quiet afternoon in the woodland
RATED T
-
“A bike ride,” Emma had suggested, as the two of them rolled up into granny’s, their breaths almost gone from the storm outside. If there was one thing that topped the sudden appearance of overdressed ice princesses, it was mother nature, and her unnecessary need to cause chaos.
It was always a struggle dealing with the balance of personal and professional life; in fact it wasn’t a balance in the slightest. Storybrooke never slept, which meant that the Sheriff never did too, however today was, supposedly, meant to be an exception.
Killian suggested the two of them gratified themselves with a sail under the sun, although plans averted almost immediately once they set foot into the pockets of wind outdoors that battered brutally at their bodies, taking not only their voices from them but their plans too.
They had fallen into Granny’s, the arms of breeze jostling them into the loud clatter and chatter of lunchtime, the smell of toast and coffee and Killian’s scent easing the tension in her shoulders.
“A bike ride?” he questioned, his brows bumping together in confusion, “I’ve lived approximately seventy thousand days yet never in one of them have I recalled this term.”
Emma swung herself into one of the booths that fenced around the outside of the diner, the menu finding itself in her hands before she was seated.
“That's because back in the enchanted forest you had horses,” she said, her eyes materialising from the menu.
“Aye, and they were quite the nuisance. What of it?”
“Well now,” she replied, placing the menu onto the table, “we upgraded! I guess you could say that bikes are more efficient since they’re smaller and, well, not animals,” she chucked, waiting for Killian’s delayed response.
Taking a breath to fill Killian’s silence, she gave him a grin.
“I think you’ve seen enough blue from the look in your eyes,” she said, addressing him with an arched brow. It was true: Killian’s eyes were a sea of their own, and widening her search, she could see him drowning away in his own consciousness.
However, it never occurred to her that perhaps he was losing himself in the woodlands of her own pair. The green wash glittering in her eye gave a soft glow. Green and blue: when they mix, cyan is created.
“Aye, you’re right,” he began, the daylight waking him from his trance, “I’d love to see more of the forest.”
Surprisingly, this day still remained to be the only one whereby Emma walked out of Granny’s with an empty stomach. The strength of the wind seemed to be weakening as the afternoon progressed, and with a backpack filled with unhealthy snacks, Emma, and her slightly nervous pirate boyfriend, left civilisation.
“I’ll hold it in place while you get on the top,” she said, looking up to see him give a waggle of his brow suggestively.
“Unfortunately, now is not the time for the innuendos. Can you just get on so we can make an afternoon of this?”
With a polite nod, he swallowed his chatter and mounted the craft with concentration and a dry throat. He smiled sheepishly up at her once he found a balance and motioning his head, Emma joined him on his left.
“That looked very well practised,” she giggled.
“What can I say? I appear to be a natural.”
After minutes of jiggle and swaying for control, Killian caught up with Emma who was peddling rather gently in motion to the trees. Her hair sailed behind her in thick tresses of blonde and the red summer dress she wore sweeped over the skin of her thigh. The wind was settling and Killian had no thoughts of going back to his element because he was so very intoxicated by hers.
They rested beside a pebbled bank that allowed close access to the still flow of the river. It snaked around the woodland and away from their view. She turned to him with a natural flare discing around the green in her eye, the same green that summer generously painted the trees with.
“This is my release,” she began, gesturing to the view, “you have your boat and I have my bike.” She took a long pause. “When I was a kid this was always my escape; sometimes you just want to be alone, you know? Nature was my only friend; they’d listen to me without calling me pathetic and they’d always be there when I was down. I know my life is all I could ever want it to be, but even still, I always fall back to this place because it reminds me of my childhood. Not because of how shitty it was, but because it reminds me of how far I’ve come.”
Killian caught a glimpse of Emma and the spark in her eye that remained present. Coming to think of it, he wondered if the spark was really there or if he was the only one who could see it, because he too, had the same spark in his eyes. What Emma had described was his life.
He desperately wanted to reply, he did, however the green of the woodland and the blue of the lake and the pink tinge on Emma’s lips left him speechless. Instead he replied with a kiss and together they relished in the lushious sensation of nature; the delicate brush of grass and the leather feel of the leaves and the wash of water that was the perfect mix between warm and cool.
It was only until Emma peered down into the kind shallows that she realised it beared Killian’s reflection. Killian was nature and all parts of it. He was her escape but most importantly, he was her friend

Writing Tip June 4th
A list of body language phrases.
I’ve included a very comprehensive list, organized by the type of body movement, hand and arm movements, facial expressions etc. In some cases, a phrase fits more than one heading, so it may appear twice. Possible emotions are given after each BL phrase unless the emotion is indicated within the phrase. (They are underlined for emphasis, not due to a hyperlink.)
