this was written before the release of black forest cookie. guess who's got new ideas
got lost on a crazy side quest, which is figuring out what the craziest combination of yandere cookie run x reader is and i realized: yn is a witch. which also begs a lot of questions. is it possible to have a character yearning obsessively for a reader who is their god and have it be enticing if they're COOKIES??? is there a market for that. would anyone read that

Aglaea isn't sure why you keep coming to her as your first choice of company. At first she assumed you might just be another citizen infatuated with the idea of living legends and heroes who will save the future of the land, but just the briefest observation proved otherwise. What you seek is something much more dangerous. Since you've caught her attention, she pays every free moment listening for you through her all-reaching connection of threads. How you long to see the world beyond the sky, to follow your endless imagination. She's listened in as you spin stories of other worlds, and beasts that soar through the sky, and how others become similarly enraptured by your voice. At first, she waved off the issue. While it may turn into something worse, few seemed to think more of your stories than as fiction. If she did not have her duties, if she did not have the weight of the world resting upon her shoulders, then perhaps she would be more willing to let herself be soothed by your ballads and poems of a far off world. Then the travelers from afar came. Everything you ever dreamed of was waiting on the tongues of these strangers. Aglaea might be cruel, but not without reason. It starts as a simple initial prevention, to ensure your paths never cross. But fate soon proves that things are much less controllable than she hoped. If you learned the truth, you would need to be dealt with. You would be a threat to all your fellow citizens, to your family, to the fate of Amphoreus. She cannot allow that, and she cannot allow you to be in that position. Even if she need lock you away, with or without your knowledge and permission, so be it. There is no future wherein she would allow fate to tear you from her sight.

pros of having ruan mei as a partner: she'll test your dna for any genetic mutations, risk of disease, possible chronic conditions being carried, etc etc.
cons of having ruan mei as a partner: non-zero chance of her using your dna to then clone you and experiment with the clone by infecting it with various mutations and subjecting it to horrifying tests then showing you the end results

Hi!! When will you update “Call it Academic Curiosity”? It’s been far too long, comeback!
check ao3...... new chapter just dropped....
slightly shorter than the other ones, but because i have a very specific outline in mind for pacing! i unfortunately have a curse where everything i write is in the style of dramatic literature (i.e, plays) because that's what i'm trained in

fascinated by amphoreus as it is now... very excited for the next stages of the main quest, but my first thoughts have gone to the possibility of a yn who is also a memokeeper, apprenticing under black swan... you go with your mentor with the astral express and decide to remain with them on their way to amphoreus, but you're there when the car goes down and crashes. traveling with them through this strange unknown world but you're a memokeeper-- you aren't bound by a physical body and you choose to separate momentarily from your nameless companions. only to end up accidentally ALSO breaking the rules of 'tell no one about the world beyond the sky'... because how can you not? you're not a physical body. you've pledged yourself to the memories of the universe. aglaea would need to see to it that you're kept in check... but maybe some others would be enticed by the stories of the universe, like phainon... perhaps something to do with your role as a record-taker of history, and phainon's current legend being in the making? could be interesting...

half return - Kafka x Reader
1051 words | no warnings | BELOW THE CUT!!!
note: this one is just a short imagine I had for a half-baked idea
“You seem lost.” From between her lips, a puff of smoke is exhaled, and the cigarette is offered to you– enticing, yet with heavy consequences should you take it. Though, considering your current company, you fear you might be too far gone to care for consequence. You take it, pressing it against your own mouth. The taste of Kafka’s lipstick is bitter, an unknown flavor, but distinct.
“I don’t understand why you had to do it.”
“Elio said it had to, so it had to. I would’ve thought you’d been able to piece it together by now.”
“Did you have to abandon her?”
She falls silent at the question. Instead, Kafka leans forward on the railing of the balcony, fetching another cigarette from her pocket. Above you, the hotel’s balcony is covered by an awning–the only thing keeping you both dry from the rain. It falls fast to the street several dozen floors below, and the distance seems to call to you.
“Destiny’s Slave said it had to be.”
With a click, she lights the cigarette.
“I wish you hadn’t done it.”
“I wish I hadn’t either.”
You wondered how Stelle must’ve felt. You wondered for hours, pacing the hotel room waiting for Kafka to return from Herta Space Station. Silver Wolf stopped by every half hour, at first out of duty, and then out of genuine worry that you might’ve been on the verge of causing harm to someone.
Was she afraid? She’d have no memories, you were told. Everything you’d ever done with her cumulated to nothing but the set up for a pawn to be used by Elio’s great future. Kafka had done her part, certainly, and she was the girl’s favorite. But you loved her. You loved her so much, as if she were made from your very skin and you only felt nauseous imagining how scared she’d feel when she woke up with a Stellaron deep inside her.
Beside you, Kafka tries to gently settle her hand on your shoulder. It’s shrugged off quickly.
“Don’t touch me.”
“You know the rules. So do I.”
“I begged Elio. I begged him not to let this happen, not to let her go.”
“You know just as well as I do how stubborn he can be. The script says she’ll find her way back to us, some day.”
“You can’t be alright with this.”
She exhales, smoke rising into the air.
“I only do what I’m told.” Then, she turns, with something of a sly grin. “And with some harmless fun on the side to pass the time.”
The joke isn’t funny. She must know it, but times must be desperate considering you’ve shrugged off every invitation for intimacy since Elio showed you the script. Kafka didn’t need to agree to this, and yet she did. She chose to be the one to abandon the child you practically raised together.
“I miss her. I miss her so much.”
“Give it time, dear. She’s strong. She’ll get into trouble, but nothing she can’t get out of.” Her hand guides your face towards hers– and you let her. Even when she sounds somber, her face betrays nothing. It’s the way she’s always been. Is she grieving too? Or does she lack anything beneath that pretty face?
“She’ll be back. So, why don’t we enjoy this temporary time alone, hm? Relax a bit.” Kafka plants her lips against your cheek, then against your jaw, and further into the crook of your neck. As much as you’d like to pretend there’s passion in it, you can’t tell her true intentions. Is it boredom that draws her to you?
In her spare hand, the cigarette continues to burn. You jerk away, and she pauses, pulling back by only a fraction. A cool breath is blown onto the newly forming bruises, but you put the sensation out of mind. It’s a method of distraction, and only that.
“What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” You mock. “Stop acting like this isn’t… like you didn’t just leave my kid.”
Kafka has enough sense to withdraw at least, and an uncomfortable gap grows between you two. The rain is cold, and the thin sweater you’d put on does little against the wind. You knew what would happen today, and yet nothing could’ve prepared you for the sinking dread of knowing it had truly happened. The reality is always harsher than the expectation.
Stelle wasn’t yours in any traditional way. But you taught her what she knew. You told her stories, you brushed her hair, you mended her clothes when she returned from a mission.
“Kafka,” you begin carefully, “I don’t think I’m staying with the Stellaron Hunters.”
Nothing is said. Her cigarette returns to her lips.
“I have to know she’s alright.”
“You have a bounty, you know.” She reminds you.
“And?”
“It’d mean a lot of trouble if the IPC picked you up. Don’t put Bladie and I through the hassle of getting you back.”
Between your fingers, you twirl the cigarette she gave you. Then, you drop it over the side of the balcony. You lose sight of it quickly, and you don’t care to search for it as you turn around to face the glass door. Kafka doesn’t stop you as you slide it back, and pause at the threshold.
“Elio’s script doesn’t need me, does it?”
The pause is all you need to know. You step through the door, back into the cold dark hotel room. Kafka watches from the balcony as you gather your things, the only sound being that of the rain falling outside. Once your things are packed neatly, you place down the burner phone Silver Wolf provided you at the beginning of the mission. It sits on the bed like flowers over a grave.
You never were that much of a Stellaron Hunter. Not like the others. Your specialties were only needed to ensure no one died of infection or malnutrition– but medicinal expertise was a common commodity these days, and they’d find a workaround easily.
Turning back to the balcony door, you meet her eyes. Goodbye isn’t as hard as you expected it to be. Was that how she felt?
“I’ll see you. Eventually.” You say, before slinging your bag over your shoulder and heading towards the door.
“Eventually.” Kafka sighs.

you know what would be really agonizing for albedo? finding out that rhinedottir took on an apprentice, similar to mona and her master. and if that apprentice came to mondstadt, and everything about them served as a glaring reminder that rhinedottir chose you, not him (for whatever reason he can't seem to fully grasp). and thus begins the period of his observations. what makes you a more ideal apprentice than him? what makes you tick? what hidden value is he not seeing that trumps his own as a functional homunculus? but of course, close observation of something can naturally induce some degree of fondness for it. except that fondness would be irreversibly intertwined with his own feelings of jealousy and inadequacy regarding his creator that he's yet to fully process on his own (much less when in regards to this new stranger he's enamored with for, of course, strictly professional and academic purposes. not anything else. of course.)

Throwing out an idea I had like two-ish years ago, which is Childe x yn who is in some sort of religious position within Snezhnaya because I think not enough people take into account his very dedicated faithfulness to his culture and traditions.... Childe with a yn who he can't pursue because it's against every teaching he's been brought up with, and a direct violation of his religious faith. But the urge is there. If it were any other religious affiliation he'd waste no time in trying to pursue you, but when it's his own? What greater enemy is there than your faith in contrast to your desires?

Call it Academic Curiosity
Realizing I should probably post the link here for self-reference...
https://archiveofourown.org/works/62299174/chapters/159396931
Your relationship with Ruan Mei as her assistant has... not been going well. In a poorly-timed coincidence, Ruan Mei receives an invitation to Penacony's Charmony Festival, and brings you along. Unfortunately, being a Vidyadhara with a past you aren't looking to revisit and being in Penacony's delirious Dreamscape does not blend well. For Ruan Mei, it makes you all the more interesting of a research specimen. For Acheron, it makes you a face she thinks she knows. Now, your estranged boss and a Galaxy Ranger you swear you've never seen before is one set of obstacles in your pursuit of purely academic matters. Not to mention, the Oak Family's influence only adds to your stress. You should've just gone back to the Alchemy Commission.
Love interests: Ruan Mei, Acheron, and Sunday Status: Ongoing

Intro
Hi!!!! This is a blog dedicated just for fanfiction writing, mostly just as a place to put my reader insert content, but I do like writing character pairings!! You'll just have to go digging, I guess.
I use any pronouns, feel free to call me by any combination of my blog name (basa, fritter, etc), and I am an adult!!! And while I don't write smut, this will probably not be a space for minors, so be warned I don't want any ageless/underage blogs here just in case.
There's a lot of fandoms I enjoy writing for, but right now I'm in a Hoyoverse game brain rot, so that'll be the current majority of stuff here. There will be other fandoms later on! Like mentioned before, I don't really write smut, but I do like writing psychological-inclined pieces from time to time which some people might consider 'dark' (?), but it's not Dead Dove by any means (just as a fair warning!)
My top favorite characters: Albedo (genshin), Herta (hsr), Ruan Mei (hsr), Dr. Ratio (hsr), Sunday (hsr), Raiden Shogun (genshin), Furina (genshin) and more!!!
Feel free to send in requests or little asks, I'll probably respond eventually!
