Waiting nine months to hold her child was so worth it. She was so, so perfect. Even if Rachel wasn't expecting the baby for another week or two, she was still so happy to have her home. They already had everything at home ready for her, and Rachel had never been more excited. Of course, Rachel was going to miss having just alone time with Finn late at night just sitting in front of the TV, but she knew that it wasn't going to matter in the end. Now, they were a family, and they were going to be forever. "I'd be happy if she looked a little like me. But i just want her to be taller than me when she's older. Maybe not as tall as you, but definitely not as short as me." Rachel was so happy that they were both so excited and so eager to start their lives together for real this time. This time, it wasn't just them putting a ring on their fingers, it was bringing a child into the world.
"It's been a crazy year, but it's been my absolute favorite year. It went by so quickly. If anyone asked me how long we've been together, I'd probably say a few years, because that's what it feels like." Pausing for a moment, she chuckled softly. "We are crazy, but that's okay. I like us being crazy. If we weren't crazy, you wouldn't be standing next to me in this hospital room right now." She told him softly, her sighing as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. After a few minutes, she let herself relax into the bed, her trying to fight to keep her eyes open to look down at Sophia who was already asleep again. "Can you take her?" She asked Finn, her passing Sophia over to him. "I can't keep my eyes open anymore." Rachel told him, her sighing out softly when Sophia was out of her arms. Rachel reached over to the side table to get her phone, her texting Blaine quickly to tell him to come over to the hospital when he had the chance. That she needed him. After texting him the room number and putting her phone down, she relaxed more into the bed, Rachel looking over at Finn. "When he gets here, just give him Sophia or put her in the little bed that's in the corner and put it near me. I really do want you to go out with your parents and give yourself some time to go home and get stuff."
Rachel leaned up to kiss him before looking at the wall for a moment, her looking over to Carole and Burt. "Thank you so much for coming. I really do appreciate it. And I'm thanking you in advance for all the help you're going to give us. But for right now, I really do need a couple of hours to sleep or just even shut my eyes." Pausing, she bit down on her bottom lip. "If she looks like she's hungry in a little bit, just wake me up even if you don't want to." After a few moments, Rachel was off without much effort at all, her more exhausted than she had probably ever been in her life. Having a baby wasn't exactly easy, and she knew that she'd be cherishing what little amounts of sleep she could manage in the next couple of weeks. Because with this little addition to the family, she doubted that she'd be able to sleep through the night for quite a while.
I've Been Dying to Meet You
"Yeah, I can get them to wait, baby. I’d rather them see Sophia at our apartment anyway," Finn said, knowing that Puck and Quinn could wait to see his daughter. He was, however, definitely going to tell them that she was finally born, that his daughter was really in the world now. When Rachel told him to listen to his mother, he smiled sheepishly, knowing that he did need to stop worrying. If she was fine, then she was fine. Leaning back in his chair, he watched with a small smile on his face as Rachel spoke to his mom. It made him happy that they were so close - even if they did team up on him sometimes. When Rachel coughed slightly, Sophia’s eyes flew open and Finn smiled at the sight of his daughter. She started crying from being awoken so suddenly and when she seemed to be hungry, he couldn’t help but feel surprised. How could such a tiny person be so hungry? At his mom’s mention of him being an extremely hungry baby, he couldn’t help the sheepish expression on his face. "I appreciate a full stomach, what can I say?" he said, immediately shrinking back slightly when Rachel glared at him. He was pretty sure that she still had her scary pregnancy hormones and he hoped desperately that Sophia didn’t have his exact eating habits.
Burt was laughing at his expression and Finn glared at his step-father, which sadly only caused him to laugh more. “Hopefully she won’t have to eat as much as I did. If that’s even the truth, you know. I have no memory of that,” he said as he crossed his arms defensively. Taking his eyes off of Rachel and Sophia for a moment, Finn pulled out his cell phone, knowing that he wanted to at least text some people the good news. After sending off a few text messages to Puck, Quinn and a few of his friends from work, he slipped his phone back into his pocket. He already knew that Sophia was going to have a lot of people wanting to see her and even better for him and Rachel, a lot of available babysitters. Finn leaned his elbows on the edge of the bed as he looked at Sophia with an expression of complete adoration. “I hope she looks just like you, Rach,” he whispered as he moved his gaze to his wife. “I know right now she’s a little mix of us… but I think a little Rachel walking around our apartment will be perfect,” he said softly, reaching his hand out to gently run through the small bit of hair on his daughters hair. She was already so perfect and it amazed him that he loved her so much so quickly.
"Can you believe that we’ve only been together for a little over a year and we’re already married with a baby?" he said, a laugh escaping his lips as he looked at Rachel. "Most people would consider us crazy." Finn leaned over to capture her lips in a soft kiss, knowing that this whole experience of having a baby only made him love Rachel more. While things had started out troublesome for them in the beginning of the pregnancy, they were back to normal. They were back to being in love and happy. In fact, he was pretty sure that if it wasn’t for Sophia that their relationship might have been in a very different place. It was their daughter that had brought him back home to Rachel, that had caused them to really work through everything. "I love you, Rach," he whispered as he looked at her with a small smile on his face. "I’m happy that we’re here now… I wouldn’t want this with anyone else." Finn smiled before he ran his hand gently through her hair, tucking a strand behind her ear as he looked at her lovingly.

It wasn't that Rachel didn't want Finn here with her and Sophia. It wasn't a way to get him away so she could have Sophia all to herself. She knew that Finn needed to go home and change, and she really did want Finn to change and get comfortable in sweatpants and a t-shirt or something, because she knew that he'd be here for the next day or two until both Rachel and Sophia were cleared to go. She wanted to get out of the hospital as soon as possible, and she knew that she'd be asking the nurse multiple times if they could leave tomorrow night. When Finn started talking about everyone coming by the hospital, she sighed. Rachel didn't want to sleep, but she did want to relax. "Can you tell them to maybe wait until we're home? I don't want to make the nurses angry because I'm having so many people over and I'm trying to see if I can get out of here quickly. If they do come when I'm still in the hospital, just make them come sometime late tomorrow. I want some time alone with you and Sophia, too. My dads are probably almost here, too. I'm going to feel bad if they come to visit and I'm sleeping the entire time."
When Finn continued to try and get her to sleep, Rachel couldn't help but laugh at Carole's words. "Listen to your mom." She teased him, her slapping him lightly on the arm. "I'm fine, Finn. I'm trying to spend as much time with Sophia as possible. Carrying her around for nine months is one thing, but actually feeling her in your arms is completely different." Rachel looked up to Carole, smiling softly. "It's unlike anything else. This feeling. Not just holding her, but... you know what I mean." Carole nodded and smiled, rubbing her leg slightly over the sheets. "I know exactly what you mean. It only gets better, I promise. The men feel it too, of course. But you know, for women, it's different. You sleep whenever you want to, Rachel. I wouldn't let go of her, either. She's perfect." Rachel sighed before looking down at Sophia, seeing her eyes open after Rachel coughed slightly. Rachel bit down on her lip, closing her eyes for a second. "Shhh, Mommy's sorry." She whispered softly, trying to rock her softly to bring her back to sleep.
"Go back to sleep." However, it seemed like she wasn't having it, and she kept her eyes open, Rachel seeing her face scrunch up. "Don't cry, baby. You were so good for the first hour you were alive." Rachel couldn't help but chuckle at her words, her running her hand along the side of her face. Rachel eventually put her finger to her daughter's lip, Rachel laughing softly when she tried to start sucking on it. "You are definitely not hungry yet. I just fed you less than an hour and a half ago." Carole chuckled, her shrugging. "Who knows, she might be hungry. She might have Finn's hunger. You should hope not. He would wake me up so many times in the night to be fed." Rachel glared at Finn. "Your kid better not wake me up five million times in the night. I'll kill you." Rachel honestly didn't care, but she liked sleeping, and she hoped that their daughter would quickly develop a way to sleep through the night after a few months.
I've Been Dying to Meet You
"I think your height is cute. Plus, I definitely wouldn’t want her to be my height," Finn said with a laugh, knowing that being tall only contributed to his awkwardness most of the time. When Rachel assured him that she was fine and that she didn’t need a nap, he nodded, watching her closely before deciding that he just had to trust her on that. He handed Sophia back to her and he smiled lovingly at the both of them, still unable to believe that this was all really happening. Him and Rachel were really parents. "She’s so perfect," he whispered as they watched their daughter sleeping peacefully. While it was still totally dark out, it was finally getting closer to sunrise and Finn couldn’t believe that him and Rachel had been up all night long. In fact, he had been up for much longer than he would have liked since he had been working so late. However, the birth of their daughter was more than worth it and now that she was with them he didn’t want to leave her side for a moment. "I - Rach… I want to stay here with you and Sophia," he said from where he was seated beside the bed.
“Finn, it will probably be good for you to get up and get some breakfast with us. Give Rachel some time to relax with Blaine. We won’t keep you out long, I promise. We can head back to your apartment and make sure everything his ready for Sophia and you can change out of your work clothes," Carole said, causing Finn to sigh before he nodded. As much as he didn’t want to leave his daughter or his wife’s side, he knew that he needed to get things taken care of as well. "I should probably call into work too. Plus, Puck and Quinn will want to know about Sophia. I’m sure they’ll both stop by later," he said, a small smile on his face as he thought about how excited his friends would be when they found out his little girl was born. "We’ll head out in a few hours then," he said with a nod before he brought his gaze back to Rachel and Sophia, a small smile on his face as he watched the two of them lovingly. "Does that mean that you’ll get some rest for me?" he asked Rachel, leaning over to press a kiss to her cheek. "I know you say you’re not tired and stuff but I just… you know I’m always worrying about you," he whispered as he ran a hand gently up and down along the smooth skin of her arm. Rachel had clearly been through a lot and he was more than surprised that she hadn’t wanted to sleep yet.
When Finn felt a hand on his shoulder and he looked up to find his mom, he could see a amused expression on her face. “I know you told me that he was constantly worried about you, Rachel, but I didn’t think it was this bad," she said, causing him to frown since his mom was clearly teasing him. "I’m not that bad!" he said defensively, immediately being shushed by his mother since Sophia was sleeping. "Then stop asking her to nap every five minutes. Rachel will nap when she wants to rest. I swear, your father was the same way when I had you," she told him as she moved closer to the bed to get a good look at Sophia again. At the mention of his dad, Finn smiled sadly, his gaze fixated on his daughter. It broke his heart to know that his father would never meet Sophia, that he would never know Rachel. While he had healed from the loss, there were still those moments where the emptiness of not having his father weighed heavily on his shoulders. Finn sighed as he kept himself close to Rachel and the baby, knowing that he loved his little family more than anything.

Rachel was so happy that they were finally a family. For nine long months, she had been waiting for this day. And while Finn wanted her to get rest and wanted her to sleep as much as possible, she didn't want to. She wanted to stay awake and hold her daughter until she really was too exhausted to keep her eyes open. "She's probably going to be taller than me by the time she's five," Rachel joked, a laugh leaving her lips. "Kidding. But I hope she ends up being taller than me. It's not fun to be this short. Especially at the food store. That's when it's a major inconvenience. So hopefully she at least gets to be a few inches taller than me. Once I got to high school, I pretty much stopped growing after sophomore year." Rachel knew that their daughter was going to be extremely spoiled. She already had more clothes than Rachel knew what to do with. Her nursery was stocked with tons of things, and she honestly doubted she'd have to do much shopping for a good while. At the baby shower she had that her friends made for her, she had gotten practically everything she could need.
"I don't need a nap right now, Finn. I'm fine. I want to stay up and I want to be with everyone. If I really start to basically fall asleep holding her, then I'll take a nap. You can even go out to eat with them or something. I'm not going to be that stressed out for a couple of hours with a newborn. It's already weird not having her close to me." She told him, Rachel holding onto his hand. "Can I have her back?" Rachel asked softly, her reaching out to take her and bring her back against her chest. As soon as Sophia was in her arms, she sighed contently, her relaxing against the bed and just staring at her. Rachel stared at the way Sophia's little hands would move slightly as she slept, her mouth even moving. Even the smallest twitches were adorable. As her eyebrows scrunched up while she slept, Rachel brought her finger to her forehead, rubbing her skin to relax her. Once she calmed down again, Rachel smiled softly down at her, her finger just running along her skin as she tried to memorize every inch of her. "You're all mine now," She murmured.
Rachel didn't want to move too much with Sophia in her arms, because she knew that she wanted Sophia to sleep as much as possible now so Rachel could enjoy just looking at her and being close to her. Of course, she wanted to see her eyes and to see her moving around, but this was enough. "You better be nice later and let me sleep for an hour or two," She said softly to Sophia, a small smile on her face before looking up for a few moments, her eyes moving to look at the window. It was completely dark out, but she also knew that the sun would be rising soon. After a moment, she looked to Finn and Burt and Carole who were relaxing around the room. "Maybe the three of you can go out for breakfast in a couple of hours. If you go, I'll nap now for as long as I can. I know you're hungry, Finn. And I can make you bring me something back or I can ask the nurse for food. Plus, I need to call up Blaine. He's already going to kill me because I never called him again about going into labor. But... he'll be here, my dads are coming, so... I don't want to make you guys sit in a room the entire time you're here. I know that you probably don't care because she's here, but still."
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn smiled softly when Rachel understood why he had been freaking out over the baby. It definitely made him feel better to know that she wasn’t upset with the way he had overreacted. It wasn’t much longer before his mom practically ran into their room and he smiled as Rachel handed her Sophia. Already he could tell that his mom was absolutely smitten with their daughter. When she heard that Sophia’s middle name was Caroline, he could tell that his mom was tearing up. “She’s gonna grow up with the best Grandma ever, just like I had the best mom,” he said with a small smile on his face as he looked at his mom. Finn already knew that his mom and Burt intended on moving to New York so that she could be closer to Sophia and he was excited to have her around more. He was excited for her to get to see his and Rachel’s daughter grow up. When Rachel took his hand in hers, Finn looked at her lovingly as he ran his thumb up and down along the back of her palm. “You know I’ll get you anything you need, Rach,” he told her before pressing a kiss to her cheek.
"Hopefully she won’t cry or scream too much. I know that her not crying is unavoidable but I hope she’s an overall calm baby. So far it seems like she will be." A laugh escaped his lips at Rachel’s words and he followed her gaze to their daughter. "She’s pretty exhausted from the whole being alive thing." Carole smiled at the both of them before she handed him Sophia and Finn looked down at his now sleeping daughter adoringly. "I still can’t believe how small she is," he breathed out as he pressed a kiss to her tiny forehead. "She might be small now but that doesn’t mean she won’t grow fast. You were such a tiny baby, Finn and look at you now," his mom said as she watched him with Sophia happily. While Finn was still nervous about being able to do everything right as a dad, holding Sophia and feeling protective over her was completely natural to him. He knew that he would gladly hold his daughter in his arms all day and just relax with her. "I’m so happy she’s finally here. We finally have her here with us," he whispered, looking up at Rachel with love in his eyes as he kept Sophia tucked safely against his chest.
"I can already tell she’s going to be so spoiled. Between both her grandparents and us… god, she’s going to be the center of all our worlds," he said with a laugh. Finn knew that his mom would definitely be doing absolutely everything for Sophia, just as he knew Rachel’s dads would be as well. "Rach, are you sure you don’t want to take a nap? It might be a good idea for you to sleep whenever she does so that you can get some rest," he told her, concern etched across his face as he looked at his wife. While Finn had been up all night as well, he wanted Rachel to get as much sleep as possible after giving birth. He could tell just by looking at her that she was exhausted and he was determined to do as much for her as he could while she rested. "I know you’ll want to stay up and hold her and all that as much as possible but you need to rest too, okay? You’ve been up all night," he said softly as he took her hand in his, the other still supporting Sophia against his chest.

Rachel chuckled softly when Finn commented on her already knowing what she was doing. Yes, a lot of maternal instinct was going to kick in as she was around her daughter more and more, but burping your baby after you feed them was common sense. She had read her fair share of pregnancy books -- she had tried to get Finn to read them, but he found himself bored too quickly -- so she knew what she was doing, for the most part. For not having a mother, she figured that she could do this. No matter what, she was going to protect and keep her little girl safe. "Finn, it's okay that you're freaking out a little bit. I get that you're nervous about the whole thing and that I kept teasing you about the baby coming, so I get that you were freaking out over the entire thing. We've been through a lot, it's only natural. I was freaking out on the inside, but I was trying to stay calm. Me freaking out is only going to cause more problems. I'm just glad that she's happy and healthy."
When the door to her room shot open, Rachel swore she almost had a heart attack. When she saw Carole and Burt enter, Rachel took in a deep breath to calm her racing heart. Smiling at his mom's words, she held onto her daughter a little more tightly. "Carole, it's okay. It would have been okay if you would have gotten here when Finn and I were already home. You'd still see her no matter what, even if it was a little later." Rachel paused for a moment, looking up at her. "You can hold her for a while, if you want. She hasn't been fussy yet but she really hasn't been passed around too much. Plus, she just ate so she should fall asleep for a bit. Hopefully." Rachel handed Sophia over to her, placing her in the arms of the older woman carefully. "Her name is Sophia. Sophia Caroline Hudson." Rachel smiled softly at Carole as the older woman looked at her with shining eyes. "We wanted her to have something of you. I never really had a mom, so... you've been that for me through most of this. So when she gets older, I want her to know that."
When she saw Carole keep looking down at Sophia, Burt getting a small turn at holding her before she was passed back to Carole, Rachel could help but use this as her time to relax, her getting more comfortable and sighing softly as she looked over to Finn with a smile before reaching out to take his hand. "My dads will probably end up coming later tonight, so... maybe when they get here, you can run home for things. But I'll probably make you run out to get me food before then," She said with a tired laugh, her tucking a piece of hair behind her head. When she noticed that Sophia wasn't crying yet, she let herself relax more. "Well, at least she's not screaming yet so I can relax. We haven't had her for that long, but she really hasn't cried too much yet. She's been pretty wide awake except for right now. She is sleeping, right? Because being a newborn is so stressful," Rachel joked lightly, her smiling over at Sophia.
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn nodded when Rachel told him that she didn’t want to take a nap just yet. “Anything you need you just let me know, baby,” he said softly as he watched her with Sophia, his heart swelling with more love than he had ever felt before. They were a family and nothing made him happier than knowing that. “I know… I can’t believe that she’s really here. Sophia is gonna have some serious protective parents because I already don’t want anything bad to happen to her either. She’s so perfect,” he whispered softly as he sat close to the two of them. Finn dipped his head down to press a kiss to Rachel’s cheek, knowing that he loved her and Sophia more than he could even put into words. When she said that their daughter was a perfect mixture of them, he smiled. “She really is, isn’t she? I can’t believe how perfect she is. We made that, we should be proud” he said with a laugh. “I can’t wait to go home too. I just want us to be comfortable in our apartment instead of the hospital. I can’t wait for Sophia to be in her nursery too. It’ll all feel even more real now that we’ll have her in her room.”
While they had planned to have a baby, Finn still was in slight shock at the fact that this was all real. He was a father and that was something that made him incredibly happy. All he could hope for was that he would be a good dad and that his and Rachel’s daughter would be happy. Finn was glad that he didn’t have to worry about their child having anything but the best mother in the world. When Sophia started fussing slightly, he watched as Rachel instinctively knew just what to do, a small smile on his face as she burped the baby gently. “You already know exactly what you’re doing, you know. God, you’re such a good mom, Rach. I love you so much,” he told her as he leaned down to capture her lips in a soft kiss. When Finn felt a tiny hand on is chin, he looked down at Sophia and smiled as the baby stared up at both him and Rachel. “Sorry baby girl, I didn’t forget you,” he said with a smile as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. Gently, Finn ran his hand over Sophia’s small fingers, watching her carefully as she wrapped her fingers around one of his. “I can’t believe how tiny she is, you know? She’s just so perfect,” he breathed out in awe as he stared down at his and Rachel’s adorable daughter.
"I’m sorry that I’ve been so panicked over the past few days… and especially today. I guess I was just nervous because I wanted everything to go perfectly. But she’s here and… and you’re both okay and that’s all I could have ever asked for," he whispered, a smile on his face as he looked from Sophia to Rachel. These two girls were his life now and he knew that he would do absolutely anything for them. As Finn contented himself with sitting with Rachel as they admired their daughter, he door to their room practically flew open as his mother hurried inside. An exhausted Burt followed behind her and Finn couldn’t help but laugh since he knew his mother had probably gotten on a flight the moment he told her Rachel was in labor. "Oh my goodness, she’s so beautiful," his mom said as she rushed over to the other side of the bed to look at Sophia, tears falling down her cheeks. "I’m so sorry I wasn’t here sooner, I got into a huge fight with a woman at the airport over my last minute tickets," she said softly, not taking her eyes off Sophia as she looked down at her with a smile on his face.

Rachel was happy that she'd have time to rest, but she also didn't want to waste any time and let go of Sophia. She wanted to be awake to help her daughter and to feed her and change her if she needed to. She was sure that Finn wouldn't want her to move for the next couple of days while she was here, so even if she wanted to do something, Finn was more than likely to step in to help her. When the nurse came back into the room with Sophia, a smile rose on Rachel's face, her gladly reaching out to hold onto her daughter. "I will. I'm sure I'll be okay, though." She commented as the nurse started to walk out of the room, Rachel smiling as she looked down at her daughter. "Hi, Sophia." Rachel said softly, her thumb rubbing over her soft cheek. Now that Sophia was more awake, Rachel was so happy to see her moving around and staring up at her even if her eyesight wasn't the greatest.
"I'll feed her now and we'll see. I don't know if I'm going to want to sleep. I am tired, but I'll be able to make it. Maybe once your mom or my dads get here, I'll take a nap or something. Plus, I might need you to go home to get me some clothes and something decent to eat." She told him as she continued to look down at Sophia. When she saw her tongue sticking out, her mouth moving, it was obvious that she was hungry. Rachel was just happy that she wasn't screaming and crying for food. Taking the shoulder of her hospital gown down, and after a little bit of coaxing, she could finally feel Sophia latch on and start to feed. Being a mother was a crazy but totally amazing experience. It felt great to have someone be dependent on her even just after minutes of being in the world. Looking up to Finn after a moment, she sighed contently before closing her eyes for a moment. "It already feels weird to be a mother. She's ours, you know? It's... it's crazy. I never want anything to happen to her."
After switching Sophia to the other side of her chest, she let her hand run over her small head, Rachel's fingers curling around the small bit of hair that was there on her daughter's head. "She's the perfect little mixture of us. I'm sure that one of us will show more in her as she gets a little older, but... God. She's just so beautiful. And a lot of newborns aren't." She said with a small laugh, Rachel biting down onto her bottom lip. "I can't wait to go home and take care of her there. I want her to sleep in her crib and to put her in actual cute little clothes that I bought for her." When Sophia eventually pulled back from Rachel and began fussing slightly, Rachel fixed her gown and tried to burp her, her looking over at Finn. When she eventually heard a little noise escape her, Rachel giggled softly, pulling her away to kiss her on the forehead.
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn nodded when Rachel told him that if they ever decided to have another baby that she wanted an epidural. “The pain is over now, at least. You’re so strong, baby,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head before she moved back to lay against the pillows. A small smile was on his face as he looked at his wife, knowing that he was the luckiest man in the world to have her. “I’m glad it went kind of fast too. I’m not gonna lie I almost did kind of pass out,” he said with a laugh. When she rubbed his hand gently, Finn looked at her with love in his eyes, immediately shaking his head when she apologized for hurting his hand. “You may have come close to breaking it but don’t worry, Rach, you didn’t,” he told her with a playful smile on his face. “Plus, any pain I feel in my hand doesn’t compare to what you just went through so I have no complaining rights.” Finn dipped his head down to press a loving kiss to her forehead, his hand that wasn’t in hers gently running through her soft hair. He was pretty sure that he only continued to fall for Rachel more and more than he already had.
"I can’t wait to take her home… it’ll be all the more real once we’re there. I’ll have a couple of weeks off of work to just spend with you and Sophia and I can’t wait," he said happily as he laced their fingers together. When she told him that she wished her going into labor hadn’t happened at four in the morning, he nodded in agreement. Finn definitely had wished he could have been home with her instead of at work, but everything had ended up working itself out in the end. "Once they bring Sophia back you’ll have time to rest. I’ll make sure of that," he said, knowing that he wanted her to be able to get as much sleep as possible. When she apologized for their huge fight in the past, the fight they had just before they had known she was pregnant, he looked down sadly. "I’m sorry too, you know. I was such an asshole when we had that fight. I’m so glad it’s over… that we’re okay. I was so scared that I was gonna lose you," he whispered as he squeezed her hand gently. "There isn’t anyone else I’d rather be doing this with either. You’re it for me, Rach. I love you… and I love our daughter too," he told her, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips before he pulled away slowly.
When the nurse came back into the room, his face lit up at the sight of his daughter and he smiled as the woman handed Sophia to Rachel. “Since you wanted to breastfeed it’s probably best if you try that now. If you need any help just let me know, okay?” The nurse smiled at the both of them before leaving the room. Finn’s gaze was immediately locked onto Sophia, still in complete amazement that this little girl was part him and part Rachel. Never before in his life had he felt such adoration for someone so quickly but he already knew that he would do absolutely anything for his little girl. “I can’t believe we’re parents,” he breathed out as he leaned down to press a kiss to Sophia’s forehead. “After you feed her… I want you to get some rest, okay? Our parents are probably going to be here soon so I’ll get to rest too once they’re here,” he said, knowing that he didn’t mind staying up with Sophia while he waited for their parents to arrive.

Rachel wanted to hold onto her daughter forever, and she wished that Sophia wouldn't ever have to leave her arms. Already, it was weird knowing that she wasn't pregnant anymore. Finn wasn't speaking to her belly, he wasn't rubbing her skin to somehow communicate with the baby, he was holding her and speaking directly to her, and it was so weird. "We are." She whispered softly, looking up at him. Before long, Sophia was out of their arms, being held by a nurse and being taken away, her sighing and fiddling with the sheets on her bed. She wanted to relax, yet she also wanted her daughter. Seeing Finn move over to kiss her, she kissed him back softly, her smiling as he pulled away. "I know. I know, it's crazy."
Rachel sighed as he pulled her closer to him, her smiling tiredly at his words. "Believe me, I know I had a baby. Whoever said the miracle of birth is amazing obviously was not talking about the actual giving birth part. It sucks. Really bad. If we ever decide to have another baby, I'm getting here early and getting an epidural. That was the worst pain ever." She complained, her leaning into him to try and relax. She pulled away from his embrace after a moment, settling onto the bed as she closed her eyes for a minute. "I'm just glad it didn't take hours and hours. It wasn't fast, but... I know that some people go through that for a really long time. I seriously wouldn't be able to do it." She chuckled softly, her reaching out to rub his hand softly. "I'm sorry for breaking your hand," Rachel smiled softly, her biting down on her lip.
"After a while we can have her back and can dress her and... hopefully tomorrow night or the day after, if nothing is wrong, we can take her home and... it'll be amazing." Rachel sighed, closing her eyes to relax. "I wish this didn't have to happen at almost four in the morning, though. I wish I could have slept for a bit before everything and then I probably wouldn't be so tired." Honestly, it was worth it. Already, she knew that going through everything was so worth it. "I know this is long in the past, but... I'm still so sorry for everything. I'm just happy that we fixed things. And I know that you're not just here for her. I know you still love me and that you care for me." Rachel sighed, looking down. "I know that everything is going to be hard, but there really isn't anyone else that I'd rather be doing this with."
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn watched Rachel and their daughter with adoration in his eyes, unable to believe that this was real. God, he was a dad. When she said that they were a family, he could feel his eyes welling up with tears as he nodded, a shaky smile on his face. Finally after the huge fight they had, after the long nine months of her being pregnant, their daughter was with them. “She’s beautiful,” he whispered as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed with Rachel, running his hand gently through her hair as he looked down at their daughter. “I - yeah, yeah. Sophia Caroline Hudson,” he said softly, blinking rapidly as he tried to keep his tears at bay to the best of his ability. Sophia was perfect and he didn’t think he would ever forget this moment. He didn’t think he would ever forget how happy it made him to look at the two most important girls in his world. When Rachel told him to hold Sophia, however, he immediately grew nervous. God, he was a father and he had never even held a baby before.
However, before he could say anything Rachel handed him their daughter and he made sure to be careful holding her. When she told him to keep her neck supported, he nodded, his eyes filling with tears as he looked down at their daughter. “God… she’s so perfect,” he breathed out as he dipped his head down to press a kiss to her forehead. “H - Hi Sophia… I’m your Daddy. And I love you so much,” he whispered, his voice cracking from emotion as a few tears fell down his cheeks. Finn looked up at Rachel and laughed softly, knowing that he had never been so happy before. “We’re parents, baby,” he said softly, a smile on his face before he brought his gaze back to Sophia. After the two of them had a few moments to spend with Sophia, the nurse took her away so that she could get her shots and get a proper bath.
Finn wiped away any remaining tears on his face before he wrapped his arms gently around Rachel and captured her lips in a soft kiss. “I love you so much,” he whispered before he pulled away slowly, his eyes meeting hers as he smiled at her. “I can’t believe we’re a family… I - we have a baby.” Finn immediately leaned down to press another kiss to her lips, unable to contain his happiness if he tried. “You are so amazing, you know that? You just had a baby, Rach,” he breathed out, looking at her happily as he held her close to him, knowing that he was the luckiest guy in the world to have Rachel and their daughter in his life.

At this point, Rachel could barely tell one second from the next. She couldn't even tell what was going on because she was just feeling so many things at once. Finn was helpful even if he couldn't do very much, and for that, she was extremely grateful. Just holding onto his hand was helpful because she needed to transfer the pain somehow. He was not getting out of this with nothing. As soon as she began a large push, she kept quiet, her practically collapsing against the hospital bed once she felt the pressure leave her body. Just hearing her baby cry was enough to make her teary eyed, Rachel watching them move every inch with her baby in their arms. After their little girl was cleaned up and in her arms, Rachel could feel a few tears running over her cheeks. She was so beautiful, and already, Rachel knew that she would already do anything for her.
"Hi, baby." She whispered out, sniffling as she heard their daughter stop crying, her eyes closed and her tiny hands moving slightly over the blanket she was wrapped in and in the air, grasping onto nothing. "We're a family." She said softly as she looked over to Finn, her thumb moving to rub over their daughter's cheek as she looked at her little face. "She's ours." Rachel said shakily, her pointer finger running over the features of her daughter's face. Her little nose, her tiny lips, her cheeks... everywhere. "She's perfect." Rachel pulled her hand away and moved it around her daughter, a sigh leaving her lips. "She's just... God. Sophia Caroline Hudson, right? Or Isabella? Is that what we decided on? I know we had a couple of options, right?" Rachel asked Finn as she looked back up to him, her moving her other hand to wipe at her eyes to get any of the excess moisture off of her skin.
Rachel didn't care what else was happening to her -- all she cared about was that her daughter was here and that she was happy and seemingly healthy. "Here, hold her." Rachel said softly, lifting her arms slightly to give him to her. "They're going to have to take her away for a bit to give her some shots and to give her an actual bath, so... we'll have some time apart from her. She's perfect, isn't she?" She said softly as she placed her in Finn's arms, looking up at him. "Make sure you keep her neck supported." She told him, Rachel biting down on her bottom lip. "I want to just... to never let go of her. I want to hold onto her forever."
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn could tell that Rachel was in serious pain, that she was scared to start pushing. He wished there was more she could do than just hold her hand but he knew that he would be there for her as best as he could. When she started pushing, he could feel how tight her grip was on his hand and he winced slightly. There was no doubt she was bruising his hand, not that he would say anything about it, of course. Finn kept his mouth shut when she started telling him that he would never be able to touch her again. He hoped desperately that she didn’t really mean that. “You can do this, Rach. I know you can,” he told her, looking at her with love in his eyes as he dipped his head down to press a kiss to her forehead. She was having their baby and god, he was so amazed. In just a matter of minutes they were going to meet their daughter. They were going to hold and be able to love their little girl and he knew that while he was terrified he was excited all the same. “She’s almost here, baby,” he said with a small smile as he brushed her hair back from her face.
When the doctor asked him if he wanted to see the head crowning, Finn - against his better judgement - moved slightly so he could look. His face immediately grew pale at seeing his and Rachel’s daughters head crowning and he moved back up to his wife. “God… she’s… she’s definitely almost here, Rach,” he said as he struggled to keep himself together. Finn had promised her that he wouldn’t pass out and he knew that he would keep that promise to the best of his ability. “You’re so close… we’re gonna get to meet our little girl so soon,” he told her as he focused on her face. His hand was still clasped tightly in hers as he brushed his other hand gently through her hair. In the final moments of their daughters birth, Finn felt as if everything was in slow motion. His jaw dropped the second he heard a sharp cry and when he saw the beautiful little girl in the doctors arms, Finn felt as if he was in shock. He was a dad and no words could describe how crazy that was. In the best way, of course. Finn declined cutting the umbilical cord since the last thing he wanted to do was make himself pass out and once the baby was cleaned off she was placed safely in Rachel’s arms.
While the doctor was speaking to them, Finn barely heard anything as he stared at the tiny little bundle that was in Rachel’s arms. He immediately moved closer to them as he wrapped his arms around Rachel, looking at her with love in his eyes. “You did it, Rach. You did it. We have a baby,” he whispered as he peppered her face briefly with kisses. Finn stared at the baby in shock, still not able to understand that this situation was real. He was a dad and that fact still hadn’t resonated with him. “She’s so tiny,” he breathed out, his eyes focused on the tiny hand that was wrapped around the small blanket over her. Finn looked at the little girl - their daughter - in a state of shock as he glanced between her and Rachel. These were his two girls and he knew that he would do absolutely anything to make sure that they were safe, That everything was okay.

Rachel really wasn't ready to do this. She wasn't ready to push and be in an incredible amount of pain. She was ready to meet her daughter, yes, but she was not ready for this. She wished that she could have gotten here earlier when she first started feeling a bit worse so she could have gotten an epidural and had it be successful so she didn't have to feel all of this pain right now. But honestly? She knew that she needed to just suck it up because this was bringing her daughter into the world, and she had no other choice. This was the only way. As soon as the nurses came into the room and started examining her again, quickly exiting to get a doctor, she breathed out shakily, her shaking her head at his words. "No, I am not ready. I don't think anybody can be ready for this at all. This is definitely not okay. I don't wish this feeling on anyone."
As soon as the doctor walked back in, the smile on his face was almost making her angry. She didn't want any smiles right now. This definitely was not the time for that. "Okay, Rachel," He started as he put gloves on, him grabbing a seat by the end of the bed that she was sitting on. "Now, with the next contraction, I want you to start pushing, okay?" Rachel just nodded, her honestly wishing that she could just take one second and push this baby out. She wanted to make this as easy and as short as possible, but she doubted that it was going to happen. "Okay." She simply said in response, her words shaky. "Just a few pushes and your baby is going to be brought into this world. Just think, you'll be holding her in your arms. It'll make all of this pain worth it, I promise." With the next contraction she felt, she tried to start pushing down, the doctor helping her as he tried to talk her through how to push more effectively and how exactly it was supposed to feel. The feeling was unlike anything she could ever describe, and she really couldn't even wrap her head around it.
As soon as the feeling passed, she collapsed back against the bed, her hand tightening in Finn's as the doctor immediately made her start pushing again, trying to help her at least get the head through. "You're never touching me ever again!" She yelled to Finn, her crying out softly as she leaned back against the bed, her trying to breathe. "I can't." She moaned out, her hand going to her forehead as she gripped onto her hair slightly, the doctor trying to push her legs further towards her stomach to aid the baby in dropping down more. "As soon as you feel the contraction again, you need to give me a really big push, okay? The head is almost out. I can see it." That was all the incentive she needed -- if it meant getting this over with, she'd do it. Rachel took a deep breath and started pushing again, her face burning with the effort as she gripped onto Finn's hand tightly, her trying to hold back any noise. After the doctor counted from ten down to one, she collapsed back against the bed, the doctor telling her how well she was doing. But she really didn't feel as if she was making any progress at all.
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn watched Rachel worriedly when she moved to stand up, her hands on his shoulders for support as she rocked back and forth on her feet. “I’d rather be going through pain than you. I don’t like seeing you hurting,” he said softly as he watched her, wanting to make sure that she was okay. When she told him not to talk during her contractions, he nodded, not wanting to upset her or make her uncomfortable in any way whatsoever. “I won’t say anything, baby. Just take nice deep breaths though, okay? Just like the doctor said,” he whispered as he moved to run his hand gently up and down her arm. When she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips, Finn smiled softly and looked at her with love in his eyes as she pulled away. God, he loved Rachel so much and he was so incredibly proud of her for being so strong. For going through so much pain for their little girl. “Anything you say won’t be held against you, don’t worry. Say whatever you need to, baby. I love you so much,” he whispered as he ran his hand gently through her soft hair. He could see just from looking into her eyes that she was already exhausted and he wanted more than anything to make her feel better. To make things easier for her. However, Finn knew that all he could do was be there for her.
When another contraction wracked her body, he could feel her tighten her grip on his shoulders. “Believe me, if I could have the baby for you, I would,” he said as he slid his hands up and down along her arms soothingly in an effort to make her feel better. He could tell that the pain was getting worse from her expression on her face and he couldn’t help but worry about her. Even though he knew the pain was natural and supposed to happen, he wanted to make her feel better. Every contraction seemed to be more intense than the last and when she moved back onto the bed he started to rub her back gently. When she told him that he was never having sex with her again, he stayed silent. Finn knew better than to say anything since he didn’t want to get her angry. The last thing he needed was his pregnant and in labor wife to be pissed off at him too. “I - you want to push? Okay… okay. Wow… this is really happening,” he breathed out as he held onto her hand, his thumb running over the back of her palm gently. He watched as she pressed the button to call the nurse, knowing that she didn’t want him leaving her side. There was no way that he intended to leave her side anyway since he needed to be there for her and make sure that she was okay. “I’m not gonna pass out, I promise. I mean - I want to pass out a little bit because this is kind of crazy… but I won’t. I promise I’m gonna be here for you the whole time.”
Finn dipped his head down to press a kiss to Rachel’s forehead, his hand that wasn’t in hers moving up to brush her hair away from her face. He looked up when a nurse walked into the room and he smiled nervously at the woman. “She said that she’s ready to push,” he told the nurse, feeling excited and nervous all at the same time. Finn watched as the woman immediately checked to see how dilated Rachel was and when she said that she was ten centimeters, his eyes widened. After leaving to go get the doctor so Rachel could start pushing, he brought his focus back to his wife. “You ready, baby? All this pain is going to be over soon and we’ll have our little girl with us,” he said, looking at her nervously as he gave her a small smile. “I love you. I love you so much,” he breathed out. Never before in his life had he felt so nervous and unprepared for something but he also knew that he was so thrilled to finally meet their daughter. For all the waiting to finally be over with so they could hold their little girl. “Squeeze my hand as much as you need to. Anything you need… I’m right here for you,” he said as they waited for the doctor, knowing that in just minutes she would get to start pushing.

Rachel liked to think that she had a pretty high pain tolerance. However, she hated the doctors. She had gotten a bit better about the doctors and needles since she had been pregnant because she had been dealing with constant blood tests and people poking and prodding at her. She was sure she had her doctor and nurses touch her more than Finn had in the past month. Of course, she didn't care. She wanted her baby to be healthy, and she'd happily endure anything she had to. But this? The endless contractions? She wasn't exactly too happy about this. Once Finn helped her into a sitting position, him holding her hand and trying to soothe her, she allowed herself to take a few deep breaths, closing her eyes. "Yeah. She's not in the mood to wait another week and a half for the time we both planned for. I'm happy but this really sucks." She groaned, her feeling the pain subside for a while.
When Rachel felt him pull her closer, she put an arm around him slightly, her just trying to relax. "You're fine, Finn. It's okay. I'm in pain, yeah. But it's for our little girl and I don't want to complain, but fuck." She managed a light laugh before she got off of the bed, her hands moving to Finn's shoulders as she started to rock back and forth on her feet, one side to the other. She wanted to speed this up as much as possible, and she figured that moving would help even if it felt like her body was on fire and she was in more pain than she ever imagined was possible. She remembered reading somewhere that moving and being on your feet would help the process speed up, and she needed that more than anything. "You definitely do not want to wish this upon yourself." She stayed quiet for a couple of minutes before speaking again, her looking Finn in the eyes. "Please don't talk during my contractions, okay? I seriously can't take anything more than I already have to deal with." She just needed quiet so she could breathe through it and attempt to not collapse or cry out from the pain. Rachel leaned forward to kiss him slightly, her forehead against his. "I apologize in advance for anything I might say to you when I give birth to our kid." She chuckled.
A part of her wished that she had asked for an epidural as soon as she got here, because she knew that it was probably too late now to even bother. As soon as the pain started up again, Rachel gripped onto Finn's shoulders a bit tighter, her shutting her eyes. "Fuck." She moaned out, her trying to rock back and forth to distract herself. "Next time, you're having the kid," She whimpered out, her breathing out shakily. Rachel honestly didn't know how long all of this was lasting, but she knew that contraction after contraction was happening, and every single time was getting worse and she was feeling more and more pressure. After a while, she shook her head after a contraction, her tightening her hand on his arm so she could make her way back up to the bed, her scooting her way back up into a laying position so she could get onto her side. "You are never having sex with me ever again." She said with teary eyes as she gripped onto the side of the bed. Keeping her eyes closed, she bit down onto her lip, her trying to ignore the pain as much as she could. "I think I need to push. Seriously." She told him, turning onto her back and letting her head fall back against the bed. She pushed the button on the side of her bed, trying to call the nurse so she didn't have to make Finn run around to find someone. "You better not pass out. I'll kill you."
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn was terrified to be a father. As excited as he was to meet his and Rachel’s daughter and to have her in their lives, he was incredibly scared. Maybe it was because it was really happening and Rachel was finally in labor but everything was beginning to hit him full force. Once Rachel was in the hospital and in her hospital gown, Finn took a seat in the chair beside her bed, making sure he was as close to her as possible. When she asked him if he could call her dads, he nodded, giving her a small smile. “Of course, Rach. Anything you need, you know I’m here for,” he said before he grabbed his cell phone and immediately called Hiram. It took a few tries but her father picked up the phone and once he informed him that Rachel was in labor, he knew her fathers would be there as soon as they could. “Your dad said they’ll probably get a flight in the morning… well I guess it technically is morning right now. But they’ll be here in the afternoon as early as possible,” he said. Finn watched Rachel worriedly as another contraction wracked through her body.
While he knew that contractions were totally normal, he hated seeing his wife in pain. All he wanted to do was figure out a way to make her feel better. Once the nurses told Rachel to lay back on the bed, he saw her reach for his hand and he immediately took her small hand in his. Finn laced their fingers together as he looked at her worriedly, hoping that him being there was offering her some soft of comfort. “I’ve got your hand, Rach. I’m right here… anything you need, I’m right here,” he told her, looking at her sadly as she whimpered in pain. Finn brought their joined hands up to his lips before he pressed a kiss to the back of her palm, looking at her with love in his eyes. “You’re the strongest person I know. I hope you know that, baby. I love you so much.” The nurses quickly determined she was eight centimeters dilated and while he knew they had a ways to go, they were still so close to her having to push. They were so close to their daughter being born. When she told him that she wanted get up since it was painful to lay still, he looked at her worriedly but nodded. “Okay, okay, I’ll help you up a little bit. But stop moving yourself. I’m sure your muscles are already tired enough, let me help you,” he said as he helped pull her up into a sitting position. Finn moved to sit beside her on the edge of the bed, wrapping an arm around her as his other hand was still intertwined with hers.
"I guess she couldn’t wait for her due date, huh? Just like her Mommy… all ahead of schedule," Finn said with a small smile on his face as he looked at Rachel. He pressed a kiss to her cheek as squeezed her hand comfortingly, hoping that he was helping her feel a little better. While he was panicking slightly, he was trying his best to be strong and supportive for her. The last thing he wanted was to make her angry or freak her out even more and Finn knew that he would keep his fears to himself. "I - are you excited? I was gonna ask how you’re feeling but I know that’s probably a stupid question. I know you’re in pain and - god, I wish I could go through it all for you, I hate that this hurts you, baby," he told her as he looked at her worriedly, running his thumb over the back of her palm. "Sorry that I’m probably rambling too," he said with a sigh, holding her close to him before he pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

Rachel honestly just needed Finn to calm down and not be so freaked out, because what else did they expect to happen? Even if he was home, she was sure that he'd be freaking out just as much, if not more. "Finn-" She tried, her wanting him to stop himself from continuing to ramble on and on."Finn, stop." She moaned out, her looking over at him. "Our baby isn't going to hate you, Finn. She's going to love you. So please. Please calm down and stop stressing me out because I might be tempted to strangle you." Rachel wanted to feel comforted by the hand on her back, rubbing her soothingly, but she couldn't. "Rubbing my back isn't helping." She whimpered, her leaning back against the seat slightly as she took a few deep breaths. Rachel closed her eyes as they got to the hospital, her honestly exhausted already. She hadn't been sleeping well and all day she had been dealing with pain, and it wasn't exactly easy. When Finn walked out of the car and started to run into the hospital, she looked at Nick, putting a hand to her face.
"He's such a fucking idiot right now, I swear. Whoever said having a baby was a beautiful experience was a liar." She spat out, her looking out of the car as she tried to get out by herself, her hand on her stomach. "It's fine, it's fine. Just get me inside." She held onto him as she started to walk with him into the hospital, her more than happy that there was a wheelchair waiting for her because she could honestly barely feel her legs because she was so worked up. She was nervous, she was terrified, and she was in pain, and she just wanted to have her baby and not worry about any of this anymore. Once she was pushed into the room, Rachel was being helped into a gown, nurses helping her up onto a hospital bed. Once she was in a sitting position on the side of the bed, she put her hands to her face, Rachel groaning out. "Finn." She said quickly, her taking in a deep, shaky breath. "Can you call my dads? Please? They're not going to get here extremely soon, obviously, but I... God, I want them to know."
After a few more moments of breathing, Rachel could feel another wave of contractions wash over her, her small hands moving to grip onto the side of the bed. After a bit of breathing, the pain lessened, and she was able to open her eyes and calm herself. When a nurse walked up to her, she explained her symptoms for the past almost six hours, her trying to manage deep breaths through all of it. "How close together are your contractions?" Rachel shook her head, her trying to think. "I.. I don't know. A few minutes? Not under two minutes but definitely not longer than four. They've been lasting close to a minute, I think." When she was instructed to lay back on the bed, her reaching out for Finn's hand. "This is not fun." She breathed out as she saw the nurses moving around her, them trying to judge how far along she was. When they said she was around eight centimeters, she groaned, knowing that she'd be dealing with this for a while longer. "Hold my hand. Please." Rachel grabbed his hand tightly and shut her eyes again, whimpering softly. "I need to get up." She told him, her trying to sit up and use his hand for support. "I can't- I can't sit through these contractions. It hurts too much to just lay still."
I've Been Dying to Meet You
Finn ignored when Rachel told him that she would laugh at him freaking out but that she was in too much pain. He was too overwhelmed to even register her comment as he looked at her worriedly, immediately taking the bag from her as he wrapped an arm around her waist in support. “We’re gonna get you to the emergency room as fast as possible, baby. Luckily we have a cop car so we can get there as fast as we can,” he said, holding her close as she clung to him while a contraction went through her. God, he could already tell that she was going to kill his hand once she was in the hospital. “My mom will get here as soon as she can, you know that,” he said. Finn knew that his mom was a huge support system for Rachel and he knew that the second she found out Rachel was in labor that she would be there. Well, that she would be on the first available flight out to see them. “I guess our little girl didn’t want to wait any longer,” he said with a nervous smile. While Finn was obviously excited for the baby, he was terrified all the same. What if he was a terrible father?
Shaking the thoughts out of his head, Finn led Rachel to the cop car. Nick luckily had moved to the drivers seat and Finn got in the back of the car with Rachel as his friend started driving them to the hospital. When his mom called back, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. He knew that the plane ride only took about an hour or two and he hoped that she would be able to get to them before the baby arrived. His mom always helped both him and Rachel relax and he knew that they needed her, especially since he could feel himself getting more and more panicked. After his mom assured them that she would be on the quickest flight, he focused back on Rachel. “You okay, baby?” he asked her as he ran his hand soothingly up and down her back in an effort to help her relax. “I’m sorry that I’m freaking out a little bit. I’m really trying not to because I know that you need me to be strong. I’m just scared because, god, I’m going to be a dad and I know you’re going to be a good mom but I don’t know if I’ll be good at this. What if she hates me? What if she cries every time I hold her and I suck at this?” he rambled nervously. While Finn had been able to prepare for this, actually having their baby was something that he was pretty sure nothing could prepare him for.
However, before he could freak himself out any more, they were at the hospital and Finn rushed out of the car in a hurry. Accidentally leaving Rachel behind, he ran into the hospital before he started practically demanding that someone help his wife who was having a baby. When he started receiving stares as if he was crazy, Finn realized immediately that Rachel wasn’t beside him. Cursing under his breath, he rushed back outside to his wife and smiled sheepishly at her before helping her inside. “Sorry baby,” he apologized as he helped her into the hospital. Thankfully one of the nurses was there with a wheelchair and once Rachel was seated, Finn’s only job was to hold the back as he followed along to the room that she would be in. “God, I can’t believe this is really happening,” he breathed out as he ran a hand over his face. Two in the morning was definitely not the time that he thought their little girl would want to greet the world. Finn felt panicked and completely off guard but he tried his best to push that aside to help Rachel feel better as much as he possible could.

Rachel honestly didn't care what Finn was doing, she just needed him to get to her as soon as possible. "Yes, I'm having the baby. God, Finn." Moving into the nursery that they had prepared, her holding onto whatever she could, Rachel grabbed the baby bag that was on the changing table. It had everything that they would need to bring the baby home and to keep the baby comfortable while they were at the hospital. "I will time them, I will." Honestly, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to, but she'd try her hardest. She could barely think straight let alone try to use the effort and try to time them. She didn't even worry about her phone anymore as she moved back into the living room, her holding onto the couch and leaning against it to stabilize herself. Minutes later, she could see Finn barge into the apartment, her wanting to laugh at the expression on his face. "I would laugh at you freaking out but I'm in too much pain."
Rachel took in a deep breath, her handing Finn the bag. "Just hold onto this. It has my stuff and the baby's stuff. I'm okay, I just- god, I need to get to the emergency room so I can lay down and... and I need to call your mom again and tell her what's happening and... I can't believe this is happening." Shaking her head, she grabbed onto his arm, starting to walk towards the front door. "I tried calling your mom before but she didn't answer and I- I know that she's going to want to be at the hospital." Rachel gripped onto him tightly as a contraction ran through her abdomen, her biting down on her bottom lip. "Having a baby sounds great until it feels like this. It all sounds so wonderful and it was, god, it was. But this is definitely not wonderful at all." She complained as she walked out of the apartment with him, leading him back downstairs towards where she guessed his cop car was.
"If your daughter makes me suffer through contractions for hours on end and she's just playing with me right now, I might just go crazy. Why can't men have the baby?" She whimpered as the pain lessened and she was able to walk normally. Rachel grabbed her phone when she felt it vibrate in her pocket, seeing Carole's name on the caller ID. She quickly answered it, Rachel taking deep breaths. "Hi, Carole. I... I'm sorry for waking you up so late but my water broke and Finn and I are going to the hospital. I know that you can't get here right away, but... As soon as you can, I'd love to see you there after I actually have her. And I know that Finn would love to have you there so he won't pass out or anything." Rachel actually managed a laugh before she gripped onto Finn tightly again, her biting down on her bottom lip. "I'm going to go but... I'll see you, okay?"
I've Been Dying to Meet You
As Rachel got closer to her due date, Finn found himself being less and less willing to leave her. While he knew that he needed to work, he hated being away from her at odd hours of the day when all he wanted to do was take care of her as much as possible. Before he had left for work, Finn had noticed her discomfort, however, he had made himself go to work only after she assured him it was only from something that she ate. Late nights were always difficult for Finn to work when he wanted to be home with his wife but he knew that it would pay off when he had better hours once their baby was born. His boss was being extremely kind with how flexible he would be with his hours once the baby was born as long as he worked what he could before hand. Both him and Nick were in the process of an investigation when his phone started going off, however, before Finn could reach for it he had to bring his focus back to his work. “Is that Rachel?" Nick, his partner, asked him as the two of them watched the scene before them closely. Being in the gang unit meant a lot of undercover investigations but Finn knew that while sometimes boring it was always worth it when they managed to catch the bad guys. It was why he started the job in the first place after all.
"I think so, I’ll call her back when I can but she’s been pranking me with her fake ‘I’m going into labor’ things all week. It’s like she’s trying to make me pass out again," Finn said with a sigh, wishing his wife hadn’t found his passing out so hilarious. When his phone rang a second time, however, he immediately started getting nervous. What could she be calling about at two in the morning? "I hope she’s not trying to get me to go get her food. She knows I’m working right now," Finn said, hoping that everything was okay. When she called him a third time only minutes later, Finn’s resolve broke as he grabbed his phone. "Baby, what’s wrong?" he asked her curiously. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be on the phone but he knew that from the sound of his wife’s voice that she needed him. When she told him that her water broke, Finn felt his heart practically stop as his jaw dropped in shock. She was being serious this time, he could tell from her voice and the way she was breathing and Finn felt like his entire body was paralyzed. "I… you’re having the baby… Nick, Rachel’s having the baby," he said, causing his friend to look at him in shock. "Rach… I’ll be there, I promise. I - try and relax as much as you can and um… time between contractions like they said to do in that book," he told her as he immediately pulled away from the sidewalk where they were parked.
“Finn, we were in the middle of an investigation!" Nick said as he looked at him in shock. "My wife is in labor and I’m going to fucking be there no matter what," Finn told him, turning on the police sirens as he started speeding through the city to get to his and Rachel’s apartment. Never before in his life had he been so thankful that he was a cop. The drive to the apartment, to Finn, felt like it had taken forever and when he got there he immediately jumped out of the car. He hurried into the apartment and the second his eyes landed on Rachel his eyes filled with concern. "Oh god, Rach. I’m sorry it took me a while… I - I took the police car and I sped all the way here I promise," he said as he wrapped his arms around her before peppering her face with loving kisses. "Are you okay? How are you feeling? Is the baby okay? Oh my god we’re going to have a baby. The baby is coming," he breathed out, completely overwhelmed by the whole situation as he looked at her in shock.

I've Been Dying to Meet You
Rachel was exhausted. She was feeling cramps that felt like bad menstrual cramps for the past few hours, but she doubted it was anything serious. Rachel just kept putting it off on the fact that the baby barely had room to move anymore so it was bothering her. Honestly? For the entire pregnancy, she had been learning everything. Everything was so new and confusing, and she didn't know how to separate one symptom from the next. So when her and Finn had been watching TV before he left for work, she had downplayed her symptoms, her blaming it on something she ate. She never wanted to make him worry or anything, because ever since she was nearing her due date more and more, he was watching her every move and helping her with everything. She just needed Finn not to worry for one night. So after a few hours of him being gone, Rachel decided to finally get up off of the couch, her moving to get a glass of water for herself. When she filled up the glass and put it on the counter. Her hand gripped onto the counter for a moment, her moving to grab her glass.
The second she had the glass in her hand, moving to take it to her lips, she could feel it. The sure sign of her water breaking. Rachel stood still for a moment before finally allowing herself to panic slightly because Finn was probably far from home and it wasn't like she could call him and have him just take her to the hospital in seconds. Breathing out shakily, Rachel made her way to the bathroom, changing her pants after she cleaned herself up slightly, her reaching for her phone on the counter. After trying Finn once and getting his voicemail after a couple of rings, she tried Carole and Blaine, but of course, it was close to two in the morning, and she doubted that they were even awake. When she finally decided to call Finn again, she counted the rings, her immediately starting to talk when she heard the ringing stop and heard a bit of noise on the other line.
"Finn?" She asked quickly, her breathing out slowly as her hand rested on her stomach. Now wasn't an ideal time, but she couldn't exactly pick and choose when she wanted her baby to be born. "My water broke. I swear, this time I'm not joking. Please don't pass out." She knew that she had teased him a couple of times about her going into labor, but she really didn't want him to think that she was lying now. She was definitely not in the mood to be on the phone with him, trying to convince him that she wasn't lying. "I thought that... that the pain I was having was just from dinner or something, but god- It's definitely not. It hurts now. And if you don't teleport here within the next few seconds I'm going to be very tempted to get an ambulance to take me to the hospital." Rachel groaned after a moment, her moving slowly back into the living room. "I feel like I can't walk, yet if I sit, I know there's no way I'm going to be able to get back up." She didn't even care if she hadn't really been paying attention to anything he said or was asking her, she just really needed him here because it was already quickly starting to get unbearable as her slight discomfort was turning into actual, terrible pain.

Finn: I know but I'll be home more than I am now. Even when I do go back to work, my boss is gonna give me better hours.
Rachel: True. It'll work out and be fine.

Finn: No you won't, baby. We'll be going through all this together and I promise I'll be here as much as I can to give you some relaxation time.
Rachel: I will be. But I'll have an excuse. I'll be really tired and cranky, but so will you, so it's okay. I don't expect you to be home all of the time once you go back to work. I'll have my friends and your mom if I ever need some help.

Finn: Oh I know that we're probably gonna go insane. Luckily we'll also have a daughter to keep us occupied and sleep deprived so we won't have to think about it all the time.
Rachel: True. I'm probably going to be so cranky all of the time.

Finn: I know, I know. I will be totally content with you taking care of me until you're ready. I promise.
Rachel: Okay. Because I mean, six weeks is a long time but honestly? We'll see if that's enough time. We're both probably going to go insane after a week, let alone a month and a half.

Finn: I know and I love you for that. But it's not the same as being with you.
Finn: (:
Rachel: I know, but we are /not/ rushing into something like that.
