Alright, folks, what is the overall opinion of this?

Self-driving semi hits the road: There will always be a licensed truck driver‬ in the driver’s seat but the Freightliner Trucks Inspiration is designed and equipped to drive itself on limited access interstates. A human driver will take full control when the truck is in city and suburban driving situations.

Be safe out there, drivers!

Open Letter to Cory Booker

Senator Cory Booker, Before you advocate on behalf of "sleepy truckers" please come talk to us and do some research. With the Hours of Service as they currently are at this moment truckers must be off duty/in sleeper at least 10 hours per day, every day. Truckers are only allowed to drive a total of 11 hours. So we are getting plenty of down time and rest as it is. Also, with the rollback we can now take our 34 hour restart (34 consecutive hours off duty) when ever we want or need, every week, twice a week even, instead of having to work 168 hours before we can take 34 hours off. This actually ensures we are MORE rested more frequently. Further, letting us take our restart on our own hours, rather than a mandated time of 1-5am, ensures we sleep better and are all not getting back on the roads during early morning rush hour traffic with the rest of working America. Trust us when we say safety is our top priority. A vast majority of drivers have many millions of miles with no accidents. We want to get home to our families too, just like every one else. What Does BB19 Do?

We've had a few comments about the new app on Google Play, Breaker Breaker 19 (or BB19). This app, from our team of awesome truckers and developers is a simplified app for a reason: We don't want people to be worried about an app while they are driving!

If you're using crazy apps like the heavy social apps (yes, even Facebook) while you're driving, then you may be driving with some distractions. We know that eating and talking on the phone are distracting enough while you're driving. We're trying to make BB19 as an app that is less distracting than the rest.

Currently, BB19 is designed to allow a driver to quickly report road, weather, traffic, DOT activity and other conditions on your active route. Because we're keeping data updated - both from drivers and from information bureaus - your information at your fingertips (on the app) should be updated frequently. Frankly, the more drivers using the app, the better.

The BB19 app, it its current form, is more like a dashboard puppy. It's designed to let you know what's coming up on your route. Hopefully, you're helping others out as well by reporting what you saw or passed on the road as well.

Here's what the app has going for it now:

Bridges and vertical clearances

Road closings

Rest stops

Truck friendly parking areas

"Go Juice" stops (diesel for CDL)

Coops/Weigh Stations (including CAT Scales)

Other Points of Interest

All this information is currently FREE! The professional trucking team (an ornery and hard to please group we work with here at Breaker Breaker 19 Inc.) has determined that the upcoming editions of BB19 will need all sorts of great additions to make everyone absolutely love the app.
