Maisie may have been seeing things but she thought that maybe Nolan had relaxed a bit too. Looking around she tried her hardest to hide her small smile not wanting him to get the impression that she thought he was being more than friendly. “Y-you love the swings? Well, it’s our secret alright? Pinky promise.” She held up her pinky finger and let her ocean blue gaze lift to the others, a hint of excitement lighting her face.
Seeing the girl get her bearings was more than a little helpful for Nolan, who had not had his own bearings since he learned how to walk. Titles had only put more pressure on Nolan. His parents, school and sport. All on top of that, weird fake social classes that meant he was some weird god-like figure. It was insane. “That’s a cool park, I go running there sometimes,” he smirked, “Don’t tell anyone but I love the swings, let’s go.”

“i-- y-y-you think i’m a sweet girl?” maisie’s cheeks turned a bright red and she ducked her head, letting her hair fall to hide the color, and smiled softly to herself. they were just words yet they held so much power. “certain people are nice... b-but most just dont even notice me. i don’t mind.” her blue gaze lifted to the boys and she shrugged as part of her answer. “the nerdy sh-shit part.”
“don’t sweat it. wait really? but you seem like one of those hella sweet girls, i’m sure people are always doing nice things for you and you don’t even notice.” he grinned at her before looking down at the paper and let out a tired sigh. “that seems like so much work… was it homework or do you just really enjoy doing nerdy shit?”

Maisie stood a bit taller, a bit more confident, and found that - despite the fact that the other was a jock - maybe he was right. Maybe his title of Jock was all that, just a title. And maybe hers as nerd meant nothing as well. She could only hope. For now she would focus on the bright side and that was that maybe she had just made a new friend. Someone outside of her small little world and someone who could make her life just a bit brighter. “I was thinking just the one on the edge of c-campus? They have this swing set th-that I love. Unless going on the swings is too silly. I just f-find it comforting. And I also love to go on little walks so we could follow this trail they have. It’s r-really nice.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” he responded automatically, placing a light touch on her elbow. “I’d love to go with you, what park shall we be travelling to?” he asked, his mouth opening slightly, allowing his skin to move his misted stubble across his chin, highlighting his bone structure. He enjoyed outdoors, it was natural, let him be him. Although being around Maisie would change that a bit, the sentiment was the same.

“Jane the Virgin? Wh-whats that about? Sounds interesting. I just n-never have time to watch anything anymore.” Maisie smiled gently at the others introduction and held out her hand. “I’m Maisie. It’s really n-nice to meet you. You know, if you ever need help with the studying bit I’m always around to help!”
“Wow, really? I’m the sort of person who needs Netflix to survive. They have tons of movies, tv shows, and documentaries. So it’s great if you wanna procrastinate. I just finished binge watching Jane the Virgin, which took less than a week. Clearly, I’m a very productive person,” she laughed. “Hey, it’s no problem! Just saying the truth. I’m Catalina, by the way. I don’t think we’ve met.”

Maisie giggled. So it was sort of silly that she had bought a unicorn pool floaty and was wearing a unicorn swimsuit, however, the girl wanted this summer to be fun and it was an aesthetic right? Besides, no one else would really see her. Felix was the only person she trusted herself to go swimming with because she knew they didn’t care what she looked like in a bikini. “How about Bartholomew? Or Genevieve? Something regal!”
“Wow, that’s a cool floaty.” Felix grinned, watching their friend on top of the giant unicorn as they sat on the edge of the pool. While they weren’t much of a swimmer, Felix found it difficult to say no to their best friend, especially with how nice of a day it was. Raising an eyebrow, the teen pulled their hair into a ponytail before they submerged themselves into the water, feeling their shirt fill up with water. “I say we name it. A rad unicorn like that needs an even rad-er name.”

“I um-- t-trust me it’s not just a name. P-people take that sort of thing to heart b-but thank you. I appreciate it. Y-you’re very kind.” Maisie pushed some of her hair behind her ear and smiled a bit brighter. She wasn’t completely relaxed but this was at least a start. “Nolan. I-I know. I mean, I’ve just... seen you around. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Maisie’s eyebrows knit together and she found herself giggling at the others stopped sentences. She knew the feeling all too well. “If you’d like t-to join me, I wouldn’t mind the company. I mean, if thats what you were offering.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it. When it comes down to it, it’s all just a name,” Nolan stated, not believing a word of it but wanting to comfort the girl somewhat. “Rambling is also okay, don’t worry. I’m Nolan,” he smiled, bright white teeth flashing, seeming unnaturally perfect. “You need any help? You shouldn’t go by yourself. People aren’t exactly proven to be great…” he paused, maintain optimism, “But you know, have fun Maisie!”

“Um why? I m-mean I hear clubs are fun and stuff but I have just as much f-fun doing other things like studying.”
“Yikes, Nothing people haven’t seen before.” Dylan chuckled, “It’s cool, I found a friend who could do it, but you should invest in one.”

“I-i-its okay. Y-you and I... I’m a d-dork and you’re.... wow you’re a p-popular so its really... I mean we come from two different spectrums. Am I r-rambling? I’m rambling aren’t I? I’m Maisie.” The girl blushed faintly, once more finding her anxiety creeping into her social skills, and hid her hands so the other might not see them shake. “Oh n-nothing is up. Not with me. I was just... going to the park for a bit.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever met you before, sorry,” Nolan stated as he bumped into the person. He tried to be as nice as possible, but it was always hard when people were always trying to take advantage of you.
“What’s up?”

“I’ve h-heard of this Netflix, never been able to b-buy a subscription though. What do you watch on it?” Maisie was curious. Many people found it hard to focus on their studies. She, on the other hand, found it hard to focus on anything but her studies. They distracted her from her rather dull reality. “Oh th-thank you...”
“I totally get what you mean. Although, I can’t complain too much because after about an hour of studying I usually give up and spend the rest of the afternoon on Netflix. Then I need to wake up extra early in the morning to finish whatever homework I have left. No wonder I don’t get any sleep. But thank you! You seem really nice as well. And I’m not just saying that because you complimented me first,” she teased.

Maisie giggled, “That was very clever! I’m, well, I w-was headed to the labs. I’m a b-bit bored so I was just going to experiment a little.”
“Oh, I’m a little startled but other than that, doing great.” She gave the other a smile in return, “So, uh, what landed you here?”
