Carefully a finger stroked over one of the leaves atop it’s head, smiling quite happily at the  t i n y  creature in his hand.

              he watches the boy’s fascination  ---  it’s a feeling he can empathize with.  his most EARNEST hope is to foster that.  he knows the subject had lacked severely in some of hogwarts’ prior years   ----   &  yet, he couldn’t help but find HOPE in the interest of any pupils.  after all,  he knew his life was finite, as were the aging magizoologists of his era.  the biodiversity of the future wizarding world depended on kids such as the one before him now.

              ‘  yes,  quite,   a bit of a scoundrel at times, though.  ’   he catches the bowtruckle just as it attempts to leap from the redhead’s shoulder,  waving a scolding finger before the small stature.   grinning,  he returns it to ron’s hand, continuing where his thought trail had left off,   ‘  have you ever considered entering the N.E.W.T level in care of magical creatures next year ?  you’ll get to work with so much more than the little ones I can bring to larger lessons.  ’
