I added some textures in the background (I scanned different materials and thought those suited it the best) and sound effects to give it more life.
I used Photoshop to edit the animation sequence and then Premiere Pro to edit the sounds.
All the sounds I used are from Freesound.org.

Rough editing.
I just put all the scenes I have done so far in the timeline, to sync it properly with the background music.
I put up the animatic to fill up the remaining scenes.
I will be adding diegetic sound and maybe do some experimentations for the backgrounds.

Music
When we had the meeting with the composers, I talked with the ones that made more similar work to what I was looking for. I ended up agreeing with Barbora to work on the sound for my film. As soon as she saw my animatic she got ideas and all the inspirations she was thinking of were really similar to what I had in mind.
We have been talking with each other to see the progress we have been making so far. She had to stop working on my project to finish the ones she has to hand in, but I didn’t pressure her to get it done. I also am not able to finish my film before the deadline so I understand her part.
I did ask her for some music that she has been using as an inspiration and she ended up sending me Eric Satie’s Gymnopedie no.1. She even cut it down to the length of my animatic and sped it up accordingly. So that will be what I’ll use for now.
But we will stay in contact and she says she really wants to keep working on the overall sound for my film, so I am really excited to hear what she makes.

Final thoughts
I think doing a project like this is essential for the stage I am at. The more I can know about my options in the future the better.
The database is something that I will continue updating over time. It is helpful to know what studios want and work with. I will also search studios outside London and outside the UK.
I’ll also try to make a habit of contacting people from the industry. It was not as complicated as I thought, and everyone was nice and gave great advice. I must admit the contacts I chose weren’t diverse as 3 of them are from the same studio. But I follow the studio on Instagram and sometimes they have Instagram takeovers were the animators show what they do normally on a day. Having that information already made it easier to tailor my questions. And the fact that they didn’t start working on the industry a long time ago made me think they have the ‘freshest’ advice on how to get in.

Overview - Netflix Animation Virtual Speaker Series
I am really happy I decided to sign up for these zoom calls.
It was really inspiring hearing all the different experiences and advice. Most of the speakers were people that worked on my favorite shows and films I grew up watching, which was an happy coincidence, and a big mood booster.
Throughout all sessions there were some things they all would say, so this is like a little sum up of all the sessions:
- Do what makes you happy because your passion shows through, bring your style, not what you think they want;
- Accept everything you can when you start out on the industry and never stop learning, also don’t be afraid to ask for advice and to participate;
- A portfolio with less work but with greater quality  will always be better than one with more but not so good projects;
- Have different portfolios depending on the job type;
- Go to festivals, try to network and don’t be shy, most of animation people are introverts so they get you;
- Work on your kindness and communication.

Self-Reflection: Grad Film Assistance
 I was paired with Zachary for this brief, and since his work is so experimental, I was excited about getting to help him out. I found it very interesting, the way he mixed different mediums to create his animation.
 For the first two weeks helping him out everything went well. I liked going to the ceramics studios and getting hands on a project again, trying to find different solutions for whatever problem we had with the materials. For the 2D animation part he kindly sent me a pdf describing what I needed to do and sent me all the assets. We would message back and forth just to make sure I was doing the right thing and that he liked it.
 After that he didn’t have anything else for me to do so I would just text him every other week to reassure him I was available to help him on whatever he needed for his project. He did have most of the 2D animation done even before we were assigned together. So, I just asked him to send some of the tests he has done, for me to put here on the blog.
 If this wasn’t the situation we were in, he did say he could teach me how to use Blender and I could have helped more with the ceramics and the projections. I would have liked to do the 40 hours, but it really wasn’t possible because he didn’t send me anything. But I’ll help if he does have any other ideas to add on his film.

Zachary also kindly sent me his Making-Of video so I just edited together the parts were I helped him with the process.
The first clip shows him making holes on a tube. When the ceramic dried I helped him opening up some of the holes and cleaning the tube inside. We also had to drill more holes on the plastic tube that went inside that ceramic one.
The second clip shows the part were I helped animating being projected on one of the ceramics he did.
And then the last one is him trying out to project the animation on the water fountain.
The final result came out really amazing!
