for the first like 14 years of my life i thought that the story of saint valentine and valentines day were a celebration of a massive gay polyamorous marriage and let me tell you, i was sorely disappointed when i learned i had massively misunderstood that story

The girl who was my elementary school girl friend just got engaged and I’m sitting here single wearing a pug shirt and hamburger underwear

My last relationship was emotionally abusive with a woman 10 years older than me. I lost all of my friends, I was convinced into thinking my family hated me, and I was made to feel like I was nothing.

She would ignore me, make me apologise when she hurt me, and never apologised to me or acknowledged she was in the wrong. She made me believe I was worthless. I saw no escape from the relationship, and contemplated suicide.

Now, I have a boyfriend who makes me feel happier than I have in over 3 years. He makes me feel like someone worth being here. He is my best friend. I plan to marry him, and spend the rest of my life with him. I am no longer depressed, I am less anxious than I was, and mentally healthier overall.

It does get better. Not straight away, but it does. I promise.
